Just been outside the feed the cat who has his food in the outhouse. There, hanging from the old pipework are 3 absolutely huge cocoons. They are hideous! Black and more than 4 inches long. They weren't there yesterday. What the hell is going to come out? AIBU to be very worried?

WhetherOrNot · 14/05/2015 17:36

We don't know what it is - so let's.........cut it in half, burn it, burn the shed, destroy it, pour petrol on it and set fire to the whole thing, break it.

Niiiiiiiice Shock

UterusUterusGhali · 14/05/2015 17:37

Fungus.

ChristianGreyIsAJackass · 14/05/2015 17:43

OP... ARE YOU DEAD?

QOD · 14/05/2015 18:01

Why are the experts spelling mould as mold?

Furball · 14/05/2015 18:04

If it was a fungus - would it grow so quickly?

Wellwellwell3holesintheground · 14/05/2015 18:13

I've sent the photo to my Aunt who is a moth expert and also knows lots about fungus. Will report back!

Wellwellwell3holesintheground · 14/05/2015 18:15

But I reckon it was laid by

Is mold an Amercan spelling ?
OP is busy, having her photo taken for the press and planning what to wear on Good Morning tomorrow.

flora717 · 14/05/2015 18:20

Hmmm. No OP for a while, it was Midlands. I better review the local news for indications of mysterious alien invaders.

2boys2girls · 14/05/2015 18:27

It may have been growing a while before becoming very noticeable

ArabellaStrange · 14/05/2015 18:28

I specifically went off app in order to view the pictures. I am impressed with op's bravery of putting her hand near it.
I think the hairspray flame thrower would be the best option. If it's a moth cocoon, well too bad, it was a silly place to put it!

SonceyD0g · 14/05/2015 18:38

Where is the cat???

Haven't read the whole thread yet, sorry. Do you live anywhere near an airport?

SoupDragon · 14/05/2015 18:47

Mutated Otherworld Life-sucking Demon. MOLD

dementedma · 14/05/2015 18:55

Does the op have pre teens? If so, count them. If any are missing I think I have the answer. This looks like the pupation of a previously p!easant pre-teen, and it will shortly erupt furiously and spawn a teenager. Don't touch it, or even try to communicate with it any level for the next 5 years!

Effendi · 14/05/2015 19:11

WTAF? I can never unsee that now. :(

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 14/05/2015 19:11

Err Is it the MN hive mind?

BobbyDazzler1 · 14/05/2015 19:17

If you leave cat food in the out house you'll have furry friends of the rat variety too before long!

MrsSheRa · 14/05/2015 19:18

Don't know what's making me feel worse, the op's mould cocoon or BMW's moss ball of tiny spiders Shock

The thing is, it's not going to change now is it, this is its final form. So the issue is whether or not it can be removed?

Or does it continue to grow??

Sad
