There is a tiny elderly Korean lady in my garden and I want to go out.

Sold our summerhouse on gum tree. Dude came to look at it this morning about 9am, paid and was back by 11 to dismantle it. DH all togged up to assist but the guy politely and firmly refused as he wanted to take it apart himself so he could put it back together himself.

He pulled his van into our side return and installed a tiny elderly Korean lady (he is also Korean) on a deck chair on our patio.

He then spent an hour writing on every plank and taking 1500 photographs.

He then spent two hours peeling off the roof felt painstakingly. Korean lady has been to toilet twice. As far as I can see she is here for the day out.

However she has just been to the car and produced steaming hot noodles, broth and vegetables and they have had a lovely leisurely lunch on the patio.

He has just now resumed work and has actually started to remove the planks. Slowly. Methodically. I know because he has told me that there are 85 planks. Plus window. To removed and carry to car. DHs help has again been refused although he has taken matters into his own hands a bit and is carrying planks to car.

Elderly lady back on deck chair.

Help!! We want to go out and thought that this would take 2-3 hours max. It's been 4 and only the roof felt is off. We could lock the back door and leave them in the garden but what about elderly lady's toilet needs???? And water etc? They have a little tea break (from a flask) every now and then and have refused drinks but they must need water at some point.

moggiek · 09/08/2014 17:30

Weird, but wonderful!!

MrsChickPea · 09/08/2014 17:33

Are you going to offer EKL to stay for dinner? She might cook it - imagine!

londonrach · 09/08/2014 17:33

Lol grunt useful for washing...not sure us want to eat it. (Threatens autocorrect with 100 and 1000s for the soap, soup joke and returns to deck chair..)

StillFrigginRexManningDay · 09/08/2014 17:33

EKL sounds wonderful. What a great thread.

MrsChickPea · 09/08/2014 17:35

Yes, this is a very relaxing thread... I wish I could take computer outside and sit in a deck chair and get in the mood (but the wind is beginning to pick up - and I'm not too far from New Malden). Perhaps time to bring EKL indoors....

Jinsei · 09/08/2014 17:35

What a lovely thread. So sweet that your ds has taken a shine to EKL. :)

TSSDNCOP · 09/08/2014 17:35

Awesome. I may go for a pair. EKL and EKM. Every home should have some.

aprilanne · 09/08/2014 17:35

oh well this is a bit diffrent from the moaning threads .sorry to laugh .but watch they dont come out with camp beds and sleeping bags

CherryEarrings · 09/08/2014 17:36

I live near New Malden too, wonderful Korean community hereabouts.
Young Korean girl neighbour spent a whole day recently painting the cement between the crazy paving on their huge driveway. Very elderly gentleman spent the whole day watching her whilst occasionally moving his chair a little bit.
They never spoke, it was so peaceful.

FantasticButtocks · 09/08/2014 17:36

I feel sure she is going to produce a fully cooked meal in a flask for supper Grin

WitchWay · 09/08/2014 17:36

It's getting on - she'll be wanting dinner soon see if she'll cook something for you

Grin
MrsChickPea · 09/08/2014 17:37

I think EKL is definitely there for the night (or at least VERY late).

enormouse · 09/08/2014 17:38

Smile I love this thread.

I'd happy pitch this to dragons den, grunt. I'd only want 75% 60% 45% of the business. Grin.

EKLs are an untapped resource obviously. I like to think that there will be hordes of MNetters hanging around Korean supermarkets and restaurants, trying to find their own EKL off the back of this thread.

Bathsheba · 09/08/2014 17:42

I want an EKL...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gruntfuttock · 09/08/2014 17:43

Yes, I'm planning to borrow one of my DH's fishing nets to aid with the capture. Yes, only one, I'm not a greedy EKLnapper.

RockinHippy · 09/08/2014 17:44

Loving this :)

and shamelessly place marking

littlewhitebag · 09/08/2014 17:45

This is a lovely thread. I am waiting with bated breath for the next instalment of EKL and the Day of the Summerhouse.

EKL is in a sunny patch and seems ok. Quite warm in the garden although yes, a little breezy. Will monitor.

I strongly suspect a rats nest in vicinity of summerhouse as things have been chewed and sure I saw rat droppings and the cats have bought in three rats in last two weeks. There is a huge pile of timber which was down the gap between summerhouse and fence which DH is about to move. I really want to see EKL does when faced with rats. Just kill them with her presence I suspect, as they are Bad* and she is inherently Good.

*I like rats really.

Valpollicella · 09/08/2014 17:53

Brilliant. I could be with you on ooh, 40 mins if the bus shows Grin

I want to meet this soul soothing cat taming EKL

MrsChickPea · 09/08/2014 17:53

OK... KM left over an hour a go ... has he got much more summerhouse to dismantle/collect?

Boysclothes · 09/08/2014 17:53

KM is back!! With a white young man? What is this? Can some other family already have adopted EKL?
