There is a tiny elderly Korean lady in my garden and I want to go out.

Sold our summerhouse on gum tree. Dude came to look at it this morning about 9am, paid and was back by 11 to dismantle it. DH all togged up to assist but the guy politely and firmly refused as he wanted to take it apart himself so he could put it back together himself.

He pulled his van into our side return and installed a tiny elderly Korean lady (he is also Korean) on a deck chair on our patio.

He then spent an hour writing on every plank and taking 1500 photographs.

He then spent two hours peeling off the roof felt painstakingly. Korean lady has been to toilet twice. As far as I can see she is here for the day out.

However she has just been to the car and produced steaming hot noodles, broth and vegetables and they have had a lovely leisurely lunch on the patio.

He has just now resumed work and has actually started to remove the planks. Slowly. Methodically. I know because he has told me that there are 85 planks. Plus window. To removed and carry to car. DHs help has again been refused although he has taken matters into his own hands a bit and is carrying planks to car.

Elderly lady back on deck chair.

Help!! We want to go out and thought that this would take 2-3 hours max. It's been 4 and only the roof felt is off. We could lock the back door and leave them in the garden but what about elderly lady's toilet needs???? And water etc? They have a little tea break (from a flask) every now and then and have refused drinks but they must need water at some point.

Omg OP I love you! This thread is gold. You have a hilarious writing style and I too am bereft that EKL has gone home. Bless her.

emotionsecho · 09/08/2014 18:44

A day with an EKL with special powers, much better than a day at the Garden Centre.Smile.

Boysclothes · 09/08/2014 18:45

The chair EKL was on is at back of picture. She was sitting in it where the front green chair is. Sigh at lovely EKL memories

What a lovely thread. I've only just found it and had to stop halfway through to open more hobnobs.

I love the silent relationship that she and DS had.

I miss ELK

(yes I know this lady is Japanese but in my mind it is what ELK looked like)

There is a tiny elderly Korean lady in my garden and I want to go out.
Lala5 · 09/08/2014 18:48

I was on tenterhooks all throughout and now feel bereft at lack of EKL and white men in hot pants.

You should start EKL nanny agency. All nannies guaranteed to hypnotise small children into behaving.

I miss EKL

Pipbin · 09/08/2014 18:49

Sorry EKL not ELK.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 09/08/2014 18:50

I like your garden. Smile

LiberalLibertines · 09/08/2014 18:50

Awwww she sounds adorable!

Hope she enjoys the summer house and geraniums :)

LiberalLibertines · 09/08/2014 18:51

Grin at her not taking your dhs say so on the geraniums

TSSDNCOP · 09/08/2014 18:51

There's another thread where a 12 yo DD wouldn't get in the car to go on holiday.

EKL would have nailed that little Madame.

Bakeoffcakes · 09/08/2014 18:53

Boysclothes what a lovely thread!

Can't she come back tomorrow for another adventure?

misdee · 09/08/2014 18:54

What a lovely lovely thread. I feel all sad that she has gone :(

AlpacaLypse · 09/08/2014 18:56

Nominating for Classics too. Thank you OP Smile

enormouse · 09/08/2014 18:57

I see her more as Diana rigg/olenna tyrell from game of thrones but Korean. Also with the same no nonsense don't fuck with me attitude.

MrsChickPea · 09/08/2014 18:58

Summerhouse was on the right... but where on the right? On the patio (where all the toys are)... looks like another shed/summerhouse down the end of the garden. I so wish my garden was that big. Also looks like it's rained... or you've washed all your patio. Come back!
TSSDNCOP... that thread about the 12 yo was quite horrid... OP didn't come back (at last check) so assume made it on holiday... but I don't really understand why a 12 yo wouldn't want to go on holiday. I only have a DS8... fingers crossed he'll be with me forever!

Muskey · 09/08/2014 18:58

Nooooooooo I have only just found this thread hoe could I have missed this....it's like my life is over before it has even begun.....I want an ekl of my own do you think they would have them in Harrods.

HesterShaw · 09/08/2014 18:59

Maybe someone should translate this thread into Korean so she can know what joy she brought.

Lovely image of a cross generational with not a word in common thingy going on

GarlicAugustus · 09/08/2014 19:00

Thanks for a wonderful thread! The garden centre will still be there tomorrow - but a day hosting an enigmatic EKL is a rare experience to be cherished Grin

Boysclothes · 09/08/2014 19:01

Yes on the patio in front of the toys. The shed down the end is called the Power Shed (cos it has power) the shed opposite on the left is the Other Shed and we have a further shed in the side return called the Small Shed. The wet patches are from the Karchering.

Op please start a series. You have a gift of story telling. Pip cartoon picture was from a lovely cartoon I watched once. You don't know its name please

Boysclothes · 09/08/2014 19:03

Pip she looked pretty lunch exactly like that except she was wearing a translucent pink plastic visor.
