There is a tiny elderly Korean lady in my garden and I want to go out.

Sold our summerhouse on gum tree. Dude came to look at it this morning about 9am, paid and was back by 11 to dismantle it. DH all togged up to assist but the guy politely and firmly refused as he wanted to take it apart himself so he could put it back together himself.

He pulled his van into our side return and installed a tiny elderly Korean lady (he is also Korean) on a deck chair on our patio.

He then spent an hour writing on every plank and taking 1500 photographs.

He then spent two hours peeling off the roof felt painstakingly. Korean lady has been to toilet twice. As far as I can see she is here for the day out.

However she has just been to the car and produced steaming hot noodles, broth and vegetables and they have had a lovely leisurely lunch on the patio.

He has just now resumed work and has actually started to remove the planks. Slowly. Methodically. I know because he has told me that there are 85 planks. Plus window. To removed and carry to car. DHs help has again been refused although he has taken matters into his own hands a bit and is carrying planks to car.

Elderly lady back on deck chair.

Help!! We want to go out and thought that this would take 2-3 hours max. It's been 4 and only the roof felt is off. We could lock the back door and leave them in the garden but what about elderly lady's toilet needs???? And water etc? They have a little tea break (from a flask) every now and then and have refused drinks but they must need water at some point.

I feel quite deflated now really.

WireCat · 09/08/2014 18:20

Just beautiful!

WitchWay · 09/08/2014 18:21

Hmm - she could be laundering money through your toddler...

tagragra · 09/08/2014 18:22

can I just say that ,if they were younger and you had instructions how to put it back together it would be different story.
I had 2 young joiners that put together a small summer house and it took them almost the whole day to do it.
don't know ,I also thought an hour or two will do it ,I was wrong or were they milking it.

Hanginggardenofboobylon · 09/08/2014 18:23

Gruntfuttock · 09/08/2014 18:27

Oh Sad

brave smile ---> Smile

Thank you for letting us vicariously share your tiny EKL experience, OP.

Barbie1 · 09/08/2014 18:28

Having just spent the last year living in Korea I can honestly say the older ladies (ajumammas) certainly have some kind of effect on the younger generations. Children go from being feral to perfect angels in their presence Smile

Shame I wasn't here earlier. I could of told you a few friendly Korean words!

londonrach · 09/08/2014 18:28

Have reported to mn to ask to move into classics. Seems I'm one of many op so fingers crossed we can enjoy this one in years to come. Op you must take up writing...

Allalonenow · 09/08/2014 18:30

Oooh I was hoping there would be drinks and snacks and later dinner on the patio Smile

EmilyByrdStarr · 09/08/2014 18:33

I am loving AIBU today. I have spent most of today watching North and South on the back of the P and P Colin Firth AIBU thread and popping on here for updates. DH even had left over noodles for lunch in solidarity and maybe because it was that or make his own
Thankyou OP for a lovely thread, feel all peaceful now.

What are you replacing the summerhouse with?

Notagainmun · 09/08/2014 18:40

Lovely thread, sad it is over.

enormouse · 09/08/2014 18:41

You've definitely brightened my day, Op.

Bless EKL, hopefully she'll enjoy her lovely summerhouse and we'll keep enjoying this thread. I've nominated it too.

I want to be an EKL when I grow up, spreading joy and soup and a wee bit of criminality far and wide.
