There is a tiny elderly Korean lady in my garden and I want to go out.

Sold our summerhouse on gum tree. Dude came to look at it this morning about 9am, paid and was back by 11 to dismantle it. DH all togged up to assist but the guy politely and firmly refused as he wanted to take it apart himself so he could put it back together himself.

He pulled his van into our side return and installed a tiny elderly Korean lady (he is also Korean) on a deck chair on our patio.

He then spent an hour writing on every plank and taking 1500 photographs.

He then spent two hours peeling off the roof felt painstakingly. Korean lady has been to toilet twice. As far as I can see she is here for the day out.

However she has just been to the car and produced steaming hot noodles, broth and vegetables and they have had a lovely leisurely lunch on the patio.

He has just now resumed work and has actually started to remove the planks. Slowly. Methodically. I know because he has told me that there are 85 planks. Plus window. To removed and carry to car. DHs help has again been refused although he has taken matters into his own hands a bit and is carrying planks to car.

Elderly lady back on deck chair.

Help!! We want to go out and thought that this would take 2-3 hours max. It's been 4 and only the roof felt is off. We could lock the back door and leave them in the garden but what about elderly lady's toilet needs???? And water etc? They have a little tea break (from a flask) every now and then and have refused drinks but they must need water at some point.

This thread has made me smile, how lovely. Smile

MrsChickPea · 09/08/2014 19:05

WOW... you are the shed family. Perhaps you could sell another one to KM? Possibly. Please... Otherwise I think you need to start a Blog. It's easy. Just start with talking about day to day life. Weirdly it's the boring, normal stuff that gets people really involved. Really. Please do it. You'd be great.

bikermouse1 · 09/08/2014 19:06

Ahhhh, it was like a mid-summer night's dream. And the boy, and the cat, all under her Spell...

Feel bereft that it's come to an end.

Snot fair

IAmAPaleontologist · 09/08/2014 19:07

getting this on my threads to read on the computer at leisure instead of dodgy app.

flamingtoaster · 09/08/2014 19:07

Thank you, Boysclothes, for a wonderful thread which has entertained both me and DH.

TaraRhode · 09/08/2014 19:08

Lololol "except she was wearing a translucent pink plastic visor."

Boysclothes · 09/08/2014 19:08

Aw thanks mrschick. That's a lovely thing to say. Sadly I think the presence of EKL inspired me because otherwise am pretty dull.

london- it's from My Neighbour Totoro. Excellent film.

MrsChickPea · 09/08/2014 19:12

No you're not dull... and your writing about the experience today (which really probably not that interesting in the real world) was brilliant and you had loads of us sat here waiting for the next bit (and I had far better things to do than watch MN.. but I couldn't leave)... so I would say you are definitely not dull. You're writing skills are great. Have a think...

YouTheCat · 09/08/2014 19:12

OP, are you Arthur 'Two Sheds' Jackson?

enormouse · 09/08/2014 19:12

Ach no boys I think you write really well too.

This story has had it all, comedy, tragedy, pathos, discourse on the frailty of the human condition, murder of spiders, sheds, soup.

I think we need to apply EKLs philosophies to all threads on mumsnet. WWEKLD ( what would EKL do?)

TheFirstOfHerName · 09/08/2014 19:13

Lol at "Other Shed". If you end up getting rid of power shed & small shed, it will still be known as "the other shed" and everyone will wonder why.

Boysclothes · 09/08/2014 19:14

I've got four sheds, You (three now). 33% better than this Jackson person.

Seconded re your writing and thanks ear. Watched it once and thought it was amazing. (Off to look at amazon now).

TheFirstOfHerName · 09/08/2014 19:15

WWEKLD? needs its own topic really.

TheFirstOfHerName · 09/08/2014 19:16

We only have Big Shed, Little Shed and a very dilapidated wooden playhouse.

wafflyversatile · 09/08/2014 19:17

are you spending the money from the summer house on grief therapy?

Boysclothes · 09/08/2014 19:18

It WAS going to be on some sort of slate/gravel for the immediate back of the house but now may be on tracing EKL.

AtYourCervix · 09/08/2014 19:20

I actually feel a bit emotional.

how weird and yet lovely.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 09/08/2014 19:23

I loved this, thank you OP and EKL for a little magic x

enormouse · 09/08/2014 19:24

How I imagine EKL to look. Smile

Gruntfuttock · 09/08/2014 19:24

I agree, you should definitely write a blog. You're a really talented writer.

Just think, you'd get a million followers in no time, become an internet sensation. Get a publishing deal! Then you'll be a millionaire like JK Rowling! All because of a tiny EKL.

Erm, did I get a bit carried away? Blush

anewyear · 09/08/2014 19:26

Read first an last pages, I love it.
