The Beginning

The Middle

The end?

So... Long story short... There are horses, soon there should not be (I'm not good at summaries, they make me sound unreasonable).

We have a date! This Saturday! The horses should be taken away to pastures new, so we can roam the meadow in gingham dresses (dh looks good in a gingham dress) and we can have FuckYouFestivals to our heart's content.

There will be choirs and drums and bands and weapons and stackable goats and so much more!

Anyone who's read the threads knows I love a lurker. I can you see you out there. Go on, jump in while the thread's all new and shiny. You know you want to Wink

Is the layby mud/water-free? If so I accept the terms, it'll be an improvement!

PeriodFeatures · 12/02/2014 23:15

De Lurking. And marking place. I'd like to know all about Saturday. I'm a bit worriedthat when they leave they are going to sew prawns into your field. And how are you going to keep the grass down now?

If you are interested I have a couple of ponies.

I'll have to come and check for prawns first though...

PeriodFeatures · 12/02/2014 23:17

I bet I know you UniS.

Devon is small. Purveyors of curried goat are smaller still.. in Devon.

Jux · 12/02/2014 23:26

Oh, I think I know your Carribean lady too, UniS. She used to have a stall at our local market on Saturdays. Very delicious. Nice woman too. I wonder if she'll be back in the summer. Crossing my fingers.

Perhaps she could be persuaded to come to FYF too if we promised her many varieties of goat.

steppemum · 13/02/2014 00:05

I'm claiming the purple scarves for the clean up crew (I like a bit of purple)

Blimey you lot - 9 pages and I only missed one day!! (I do have to do some work between all this chat, in this case painting the lounge ceiling AGAIN, and it still looks like it needs another coat...mutter... mutter... mutter... mutter)

Enrique I did realise I had volunteered to clean up after the festival, but if you can refer back to thread one
(calls Wing in for the defence)
I did say I was bringing my pyrotechnically minding ds, who inherited his pyrotechnic gene from...ahem...an unknown source.

Clean up will involve a very large bonfire, which will double as a way to keep our antipodean friends warm.

hmmm, maybe the red scarves should be for the fire wardens?

PS, I would have eaten the cheesecake

PedantMarina · 13/02/2014 06:32

Pixel, for shame!

There is NO such thing as too much Star Trek.

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 13/02/2014 07:43

Oh sweet electricity, precious wifi!

About five minutes after my last post the whole area lost power. It came back on after midnight sometime. No heating. No lights. No MN Shock

I shall catch up shortly.

UniS · 13/02/2014 08:14

jux and p.f. you might know me its not a vast place and there are only so many festivals. I'll be at the Exeter food fest but I'm not a caterer.

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 13/02/2014 08:35

Enrique, I'm going to have to get that scarf! Grin Mr Chris will love it too. His gingham dress is rather short, and he is rather tall, so we need a strong distraction.

What colour should I wear as the founder of FYF?

Alpaca, bloody cats, they didn't have to rub your nose in it (so to speak)

Cantabile, the butcher will be kept had at work. I mentioned we got left a cat too, didn't i? Well I've now been told it wasn't just one. There are 3/4 wandering around that belong to the house. Kebabs anyone?

Ida, the colour coding is a stroke of genius. I'm sorry you had to share your icecream. We cooked by candlelight last night. Thank god we have a gas hob. It wasn't safe to go outside so we would've had to make do with... Well... Ice cream I suppose :)

Cherrylips, love a delurker! Welcome! And thank you :)

UniS, stackable goats are just practical on so many levels (see what I did there?!)

Littledrummer, first aider? Side note: why does my auto correct want to change aider to spider? You can be first spider if you'd like. No power is a terrible thing. We had to spend an evening without gadgets the teen spoke to us! Ok, so it was mostly about how he couldn't use his gadgets and couldn't live in the dark ages Grin but it counts!

Pixel, camp doughnuts? I have never had these. They sound good. But no horses! At a push I know someone who would happily take on yours out of the kindness of her heart Wink she's got a lovely field, it'll be ready on Saturday. Interested?

Alpaca, your dcs sound amazing. Loving the humour, appropriate song choice and all :) glad to hear you've got them in training.

PeriodFeatures, she might. I wouldn't put it past her to lay landmines. I'm still pondering what they might do with the shelter. We'll happily keep it, but I can see UW throwing a "and we'll be back for the shelter at some point" over her shoulder as she drives away. Then there will be a satisfying. Click of a padlock and I'll growl, "no you bloody won't", then I'll walk off into the sunset to Wild West music.

I'm liking the sound of the curried goat lady, can we persuade her to come too? Jux, find her and bring her!

Streppe, I like a good cleansing fire :) it'll be a lovely ending to a lovely FYF

Pedant, Grin we'll promise not to leave the red scarved in dangerous situations.

IdaBlankenship · 13/02/2014 08:47

Morning Chris, well after all the flickering and a rather impressive bolt of lightning, the electricity stayed on. So the ice cream was sacrificed in vain. Sorry to hear about your dark evening - I hope you had a woodburner on (I am imagining your house as all woodburners, beams and maybe an old Rayburn?) and were cosy.
We had a power cut a few years back (pre-kids) on Christmas Eve, the family all played board games and talked and got a bit tiddly - it was lovely

mistlethrush · 13/02/2014 08:52

Glad you're back on-line FYC - and I hope that nothing of yours is too damaged? (Apart from the shock of having to speak to the teenager of course).

We're a lot further east, but lots of damage around - trees down, main arterial route into the city centre blocked this morning - and they've had gangs out all night too, so that one must have been a big one.

The dog opted to stay on the sofa last night, despite it not being in the same room as me... it was clearly TOO COLD for her in the bedroom (where she normally sleeps at least part of the night).

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 13/02/2014 08:52

Ida, sadly we are in the the process of getting one put in at the moment! There's a fireplace but it's blocked by birds nests, so we couldn't use that either.

I do have a big, iron, candle-fuelled chandelier though. It was brilliant.

I might have opened the fizz that dh had bought for Saturday Blush

OP posts:
FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 13/02/2014 08:55

Mistle, I've never seen weather like it. All the roads were closed by late evening due to trees, but they're all clear again now. I haven't examined the sheds yet. Dh said that some things that had been stored at the back of one of them has been blown into the garden.

Everyone seems a bit shell shocked.

OP posts:
SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 13/02/2014 08:59

Hello everyone. Grin How's tricks?

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 13/02/2014 09:03

Saggy! Long time no see. We survived the night :). How's you?

OP posts:
EauPea · 13/02/2014 09:18

Glad you survived the night Chris, we got off lightly just two roof tiles missing. Time to prepare for tomorrows onslaught.

Still should be nice for Saturday Grin

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 13/02/2014 09:21

I'm ok. roof still intact, ponies still where I left them, baby still hanging in there! Smile You?
I haven't seen any updates recently! Wink

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 13/02/2014 09:48

Eau, I've just had a nose about and everything looks pretty much as it was. One of our sheds is quite tumbledown, I was expecting it to be even worse this morning, but it actually looks pretty solid still.

As long as Saturday is lovely I don't care. Although today is supposed to be horse trailer day nothing so far.

Saggy, all quiet on the western front Wink hopefully that's a good thing! Feel free to enquire whenever you like!

OP posts:
enriquetheringbearinglizard · 13/02/2014 11:08

Hi Saggy.

So we all seem reasonably still-standing then?
Mention of power cuts and I got the candles and matches ready, but it was ok here just rough as.

Chris I think as the founder members you and Mr FYC should have your own choice of scarf, except I already waded in Blush Perhaps you should have two each and twist them?

Pixel ha has Chris is definitely on to you Grin

and now I'm slightly scared of steppemum Shock

QOD · 13/02/2014 11:16

Yeah!!!! I will pop in the £ shop and get the pens today Grin

steppemum · 13/02/2014 11:23

I'm nice really!

bring your marshmallows for the clean up fire (just don't drop the packets on the floor)
Wink

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 13/02/2014 12:16

QOD, let me know if you see anything else we might need :)

Enrique, as scarf-discover and resident FYF-shopper you are forgiven.

Steppe, am stocking up right now. Can we have baked potatoes too?!

OP posts:
FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 13/02/2014 12:38

I get a big fat zero for my observational abilities. Suddenly heard chainsaws and next door have an ENORMOUS tree down over their drive Shock they're going to take forever to clear that.

OP posts:
EauPea · 13/02/2014 12:45

Ooo free firewood Grin

Could you ask the them to keep a huge section of the trunk to block off access after fyf?

QOD · 13/02/2014 12:46

Okay, when I was in there the other day they had lots of Niall from One Direction face masks. I'll get some.
