The Beginning

The Middle

The end?

So... Long story short... There are horses, soon there should not be (I'm not good at summaries, they make me sound unreasonable).

We have a date! This Saturday! The horses should be taken away to pastures new, so we can roam the meadow in gingham dresses (dh looks good in a gingham dress) and we can have FuckYouFestivals to our heart's content.

There will be choirs and drums and bands and weapons and stackable goats and so much more!

Anyone who's read the threads knows I love a lurker. I can you see you out there. Go on, jump in while the thread's all new and shiny. You know you want to Wink

No allergies to either of thise, thank crap. And we have a nice supply of stuff, at varying levels of wonkiness-inducing (DP has a variety of pain issues from time to time). I have chosen night-time pain reliever, so might not be compos mentis much more.

Chilling and watching Captain America. Would kill for some popcorn. Or booze (both forbidden - double Sad ).

IdaBlankenship · 19/02/2014 17:43

I go away and leave you all for a couple of day and look what happens... ferrets indeed! I cannot get onboard with any ideas involving rodents - stackable or otherwise.

Today I overheard two women discussing what they would do with a lottery win, one of them said they would set up a horse rescue sanctuary as "there are so many of them, sad, abandoned horses in fields". I wanted to tell her, "there's one less for you to worry about in Wales, love".

PedantMarina · 19/02/2014 18:18

runs in slo-mo to chill-out William Tell Overture<

trips over rock<
slo-mo falls<

Niiiighty niiiight

PS - ha! let's see if anybody gets that reference.

DejaVuAllOverAgain · 19/02/2014 19:14

Evening :)

enriquetheringbearinglizard · 19/02/2014 22:29

just the ferrets and me rocking in a corner then

Hope it's better when you wake up Marina.

Mistle, no ferrets, think smaller and yet infinitely more annoying!
I did once go and watch a ferret race at the village fair where the ferrets steadfastly refused to be fit for purpose. Very disappointing.

steppemum · 19/02/2014 22:47

enrique - I got all excited about the ferret racing when we went to village fair (actually I am pretty sure it was a Fayre)

They went - On You Marks... Get Set.... GO

and nothing happened.

It took the fastest ferret about 10 minutes to wander through all the obstacles.

PedantMarina · 20/02/2014 05:52

OMGs, do none of you watch Bugs Bunny?!? it was the one with the mad scientist, and "if an eeenteresting monster can't have eeenteresting hair, I don't know what to think. bobby pin, please."

oh, and, appropriately, it's also got lots of flooding.

PedantMarina · 20/02/2014 05:54

thanks, enrique

DejaVuAllOverAgain · 20/02/2014 07:41

I used to watch Bugs Bunny years ago but stopped when my DC did Grin

Hope you're feeling better this morning.

At work again this afternoon but then I have the weekend off Grin

Finally got around to ordering my horse scarf yesterday so that should be here in the next few days. In the meantime I shall look around for horse scarves although I don't think any of you are near me.

FuschiaChrisAndNigeria · 20/02/2014 07:44

Oh no! Sorry, was AWOL last night. Pedant, you have all my sympathy. I hope you're feeling better today. I had to have my wisdom teeth out under GA a few years ago. It wasn't fun. I felt like I'd been punched in the face.

Hope those painkillers are working.

Enrique, similar happen to me in France. Miserable.

Mistle, I think tooth pendants will have to be a FYF thing too.

Ida Grin at the horse sanctuary. Next time you'll have to say something. I wore my scarf all day yesterday. As yet no one has noticed :(

Deja, morning :)

Pedant, I'm sorry I loathe bugs with an irrational passion.

Steppe, if you can't race them, what good are they?!

FuschiaChrisAndNigeria · 20/02/2014 07:46

I'm going to have to clarify: I love bugs, I hate Bugs. I hope that clarified things.

FuschiaChrisAndNigeria · 20/02/2014 07:51

Enrique! I am most happy that this business will soon be concluded with the happiness of all and god!

Unfortunately I have not yet had the monies that are of requirement for the release of the millionty.

This is very sadness. And now my sister has got a terrible illness that is most expensive to treat and I cannot get the dollars to pay the doctors. This is very hard. But we are knowing that god is bringing you to be helping us at these times.

So please send moneygram as soon as is ok, to "notascamohnonotonebitascam" care of western union and we will be able to do good for my sister and her pain. She is sending much love too and says you are a godly and good woman and not at all how you sound. This is good.

Jux · 20/02/2014 11:00

Grin FYC

Bugs are not fun, whichever type you are speaking of. Well, I quite like stag beetles because one said thank you to me once and follwed me down the road after I had rescued it when it had been stuck on its back, waving its little legs increasingly hopelessly in the air. Anyway, hope the bug-ridden are soon free of them!

We were meant to be going to London today for dd's big half term treat. There's an exhibition she wanted to visit. When we got up at an astonishingly inhuman hour (7am actually, so perfectly reasonable really, but hey, it's half term) she and dh decided they didn't want to go as it was raining. Um, that's what happens in this country? "Pah" I thought. And "pah" again. Perhaps "Pshaw" too.

And now the sun is shining and it's a beautiful day, and dh and dd are repairing her autoharp.

Ooooh! We have an autoharp! Did I mention that before? Can dd play her autoharp at FYF?

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 20/02/2014 11:59

What is an Autoharp?! It sounds brilliant. Bring it.

I love stag beetles. I've only seen one once. It came into my work because it was raining. It was great. We spent the rest of the day googling stag beetles good times.

I'm disappointed in your dh and dd. I hope they're prepared for the fact that it always rains in Wales. I'm worried you won't make it to FYF Shock

Afternoon All.

Steppemum I was going to wonder if we went to the same Village Fete/Fair/Fayre, but yours was clearly superior if the ferrets had obstacles, ours only had drainpipes. They had a real lack of interest in going from one end to the other though and kept doing U turns. I think the whole event just fizzled out if I remember correctly.

Stag Beetles sound much more interesting, they sound very sociable actually. I haven't seen too many, but I tell you what we get and we usually get them in the house from the log baskets, they're unpleasant so and sos
Devil's Coach HORSE
How weird is that on a thread about ridding yourself of interloping horses? Grin
I've just told DH this and he's laughing and saying 'they want stag beetles removing now?' he's a bit confused at the tangent 'couldn't they just have gone with the horses?'

says you are a godly and good woman and not at all how you sound
Humph. I think I've rather taken offence at that and might let someone else take charge of the millionty trillion pound windfall.
I shall spend my goodwill deposit on gin instead Angry
*but I will share my gin and make Brew for those who can't indulge, because I've done my first ever successful neat link. Yay me.

MrsNutella · 20/02/2014 14:19

Hello. I am almost keeping up. Do we have a date yet for FYF? I need to book flights!! Smile

And I am willing to send necessary details for my hundrety squillion pounds but only to a prince.
Thank you.

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 20/02/2014 14:44

MrsN maybe we should combine it with the caravan removal Grin

Ooh ooh! Oddly enough the only other beetle incursion I've had at work (different office) was the devil's coach horse!!

Weird. They are creepy looking.

£5000 on gin? That's either a large quantity or bloody good gin!

Can I have some?

OP posts:
Jux · 20/02/2014 15:11

Wow! That Devil's Coach Horse is something else! How cool is that? A cross between a stag beetle and a scorpion, and they're carnivorous! They just keep giving Grin It would make a good monster for Primeval, wouldn't it? Or maybe an alien for Dr Who to grapple with.

I'm astonished that you people have seen so few stag beetles. We were constantly running away from them in my youth. There were what seemed like millions in our garden. I remember one raising itself on its hind legs and hissing at my toe, once.

I wish spiders were less plentiful, but there always seem to be more of them. Die out you ugly scampering beasts, die.

DH is on the last felt. This is an autoharp. There are scrapings of old glue, crumbs of old felt, bits of paper peeled from the backs of the new felts.... The kitchen is a scene of devastation.

Jux · 20/02/2014 15:16

Oh, and rain won't stop us from coming to Wales. It's just that dh doesn't like driving in bad weather Hmm. In fact, we spent the first leg of our honeymoon(such as it was) in a tent in a field in Llangenith at the end of March. We camped there every year until I couldn't camp any more, but dh and dd still go most years for a couple of days at least.

I snort at rain. I shall be at FYF!

IdaBlankenship · 20/02/2014 15:19

So Jux does that mean you are organising the folk section of the festival?

enriquetheringbearinglizard · 20/02/2014 15:43

I'm very happy to share gin Smile and Devil's Coach Horses. They're certainly feisty little buggers, very aggressive despite the relative size difference. They know no fear.

Am very surprised that anyone else encounters spiders as I truly thought the entire British spider population had set up camp in our house Confused

That autoharp looks just the job for the FYI, very portable.

Dare I say it, we have some sun.

IdaBlankenship · 20/02/2014 15:53

No Enrique, I think I am running the UK's premier spider safari park. You can spot herds of them in their natural habitat roaming the walls whilst I throw them live bait in order to make my escape

Jux · 20/02/2014 18:08

Oh Ida so that's how you do it! I wish I'd known that before. We are silently cowering in an understairs cupboard hoping that the ravening hoards will give up looking for us and go elsewhere! Mind you, sometimes the cats will eat some. A very good reason for the existence of cats, imo.

I know little of folk except very traditional classical folk (Britten/Pears type stuff). I'll let dd organise it. She's becoming quite an afficionado with very wide ranging and eclectic taste.

IdaBlankenship · 20/02/2014 18:52

I shall grow a beard and dig out my corduroy in honour of the FYF folk revival. I am also partial to a sea shanty if anyone knows any?
