The Beginning

The Middle

The end?

So... Long story short... There are horses, soon there should not be (I'm not good at summaries, they make me sound unreasonable).

We have a date! This Saturday! The horses should be taken away to pastures new, so we can roam the meadow in gingham dresses (dh looks good in a gingham dress) and we can have FuckYouFestivals to our heart's content.

There will be choirs and drums and bands and weapons and stackable goats and so much more!

Anyone who's read the threads knows I love a lurker. I can you see you out there. Go on, jump in while the thread's all new and shiny. You know you want to Wink

Eep at flickering power!!

Hoepfully they won't use the weather as an excuse not to come and remove him! Is the other horse still there?

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 14/02/2014 09:36

Jersey, yup, both still there. Unfortunately the weather could actually become a valid excuse if it's really bad.

Just had another email from RL!

She's on her way back to the area today. She says she can't get hold of UW but her, horse box man, and horse-knowledge Lady (henceforth known as HBM and HKL!) are meeting at the field tomorrow morning at 10.30!

She's determined even if no one else is!

mistlethrush · 14/02/2014 10:15

I would think that, with a trio of horse-savy people, they should be able to load them. Probably a no nonsense approach and no anxious pussy footing about (which I'm sure UW would do) will get them in with as little agro as possible.

You never know, you might even be horse-free before I leave for my rehearsal!

FlyLikeABird · 14/02/2014 10:16

This is fabulous news, hooray for RL. Very excited for you, fingers crossed the weather doesn't throw a spanner in the works.

I hope you've got some good supplies in for tomorrow, I would imagine trying to load the stallion should be quite eventful, especially if it's windy. I would pull up a chair, have some Brew and Cake and watch from the warmth of indoors. There again I don't get out much Grin

Greenkit · 14/02/2014 10:24

12 pages, I cant read 12 pages...

Anyway, good luck tomorrow, if the people take their horse and it just leaves the mad stallion, cant the RSPCA come get him as he will have been abandoned?

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 14/02/2014 10:35

Greenkit, don't blame you! As far as I can tell the RSPCA wouldn't be interested as he's not actually in a state of neglect. And if he was in a state of neglect they'd probably try to prosecute me!

Fly, I think that's what I'll be doing :)

I think I need a soundtrack for tomorrow. Might have to be Bon Jovi And his steel horse. Unless anyone's got a better suggestion.

Mistle, I actually hope UW decides she can't cope with it all and stays away. I'd happily go and help if that was the case. I'm fearless around large animals, and would happily help with the calmness. I just hope the wind dies down. Nothing riles a horse like a windy day.

OP posts:
Morgause · 14/02/2014 10:37

Could they put off the meeting until 1pm? I'm out until then.

steppemum · 14/02/2014 10:46

I am out too Morgause, we need a sulkers corner for those who miss the big event.

I actually am beginning to like RL I think she is going to great lengths to keep this on track despite UW expert attempts to undermine it all.

I am still bagging purple scarf

PS. Chris you will have your baked spuds in the bonfire, you wish is my command

JerseySpud · 14/02/2014 11:00

Hurrah for RL!

Fingers crossed this is the end of the saga for you

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 14/02/2014 11:06

Morgause, Grin no!!! It'll probably take them until then anyway.

Steppe, I believe that RL is a genuinely very nice person. I think she's the driving force behind it all now. I have a lot of time for her. All her contact has been polite, apologetic, helpful and understanding. I don't think she had any idea that UW was behaving as she was. And yay to spuds! Mmmmm, fire baked potatoes with melted butter

Can I make barbecued rum bananas? I don't even like bananas, but I love these.

Jersey, I'm hoping the good vibes from mners will see them out tomorrow!

AngelaDaviesHair · 14/02/2014 11:09

You know, RL might have to be invited to FYF at this rate.

I think UW is Boss of Absolutely Everything, until the going gets tough when she scarpers, so RL may have been left in the lurch.

PedantMarina · 14/02/2014 11:11

AIBU to feel a little soppy that all my fave MNers clearly read all the same freds I do? Seriously, welling up. And on Valentine's Day! What a mug I am.

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 14/02/2014 11:23

Angela, I'd happily have RL at FYF, I think she'd fit right in. I think your analysis could well be right.

Pedant if you're unreasonable then i am too!

We don't do valentine's day. But dh bought me some earrings :) they're very nice. I'll wear them for FYF. And in typical northern style he declared, "when I saw them there wasn't a price tag, the ones next to them were £50, and I thought 'what the hell, FYChris is worth it', so I went to the counter and asked how much they were. '£18' came the reply, 'but they're on offer, down to £6'. So I bought them for you. Because they're green. And you like green. And I would've bought them if they'd been really expensive, but it's so much better that they were cheap" Grin
I do love my dh.

OK, Pixel, you've fallen off the list. TNG was the BEST incarnation of Star Trek to date. Tell me Patrick Stewart doesn't give you shivers! G'wan, I dares ya! And don't even get me started about Brent Spiner in those days.

Oh, and I've never liked Shitner. I only watch ST:TOS if I've had a few drinks and want a laugh.

That said, I do love the re-boot. As does DS.

IdaBlankenship · 14/02/2014 11:26

Great news Chris! Hoorah for RL - she should get a honorary scarf too.

Since so many of you have not seen it, we should definitely have the final Quantum Leap on the big screen - there won't be a dry eye in the field I tell you!

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 14/02/2014 11:34

Pedant, I love Patrick Stewart. He never ceases to astonish me. Such an inspiring man. I have to say I'm more of a comic book geek than a Star Trek geek Blush

Ida, what a great idea! I will send her a scarf!

Does Al ever settle down?

AmyMumsnet · 14/02/2014 11:39

Someone told us there was a festival going on? We were hoping to move the location to classics if that's alright with you!

Now where's my candyfloss?

PedantMarina · 14/02/2014 11:40

This takes me right back to my "Pages" days.

Before digital television or broadband (I sound about 90, sitting on a rocking chair on the front porch, I does), when television networks in this country thought they had us by the curlies (this was also in the daysh back when very few of ush bothered to shave Down There, ye shee), there was Pages Bar, in Pimlico.

Every week during the season, they'd Fedex over the latest instalment of whichever Star Trek, and we'd all sit around and watch it, months ahead of whenever the local channels thought they'd bother.

They had Star Trek themed decor, you could dress up Trekkie or any other geek genre (they also had Buffy and Quantum Leap and other theme nights), and they had fabulous Halloween and New Year's eve parties. Some people made up videos, my favourite one was to Bohemian Rhapsody and it featured pre-teen Jean Luc (from the Rascals episode) during the "No No No NO NO!" line.

I thought you couldn't get a community spirit like that since On-Demand. But maybe we can, eh?

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 14/02/2014 11:43

Amy Grin Blush fine by me. But you will have to tell us what special skill you'll be bringing to the fest :)

OP posts:
FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 14/02/2014 11:45

Pedant, that sounds amazing. Yes! I want to recreate that! All of it! I am filled with Envy

OP posts:
PedantMarina · 14/02/2014 11:45

Not for nothing, but DP and I know how to - and have already, with great success - made cheesecake in a campfire. I think we'll offer that class as part of FYFeistival.

Classics!!! Who HOOO!

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 14/02/2014 11:46

Pedant! Really?! That's... But... How?!!!

OP posts:
steppemum · 14/02/2014 11:49

classics!!! Shock

Ida you beat me to it, I think she should get a scarf, with a little note giving her a ref to mn and this thread.

BBQ bananas are yours Chris.

You know that film about the baseball pitch where it says ''If you build it they will come?''
I have this picture of one saturday (once the weather has sorted itself out) that mumsnetters just start wandering in to chris's field from all directions, bringing food and guitars and sleeping bags and then this amazing day ending with us all asleep under the stars (because obviously the weather would be beautiful, toilets would not be an issue, food would magically materialize and all the other things that happen in films)

sigh, cue 19702 hippy music

steppemum · 14/02/2014 11:51

not sure what 19702 music is, obviously 1970s music on drugs!

and the scarf was for RL

(but not a purple one....)
