My DH, Claudius, keeps harping on about how he doesn't want to be Emperor and how he wants a republic instead now that Caligula is dead. Thankfully, the Praetorian Guard has some sense and have told him that the people will kill us all if he says no and won't let him talk to anyone until he changes his mind.

This is absolutely the last straw. I've had to put up with that barmy Livia trying to poison everyone, avoiding Tiberius who likes anything with two legs and a toga and keeping my head down around Caligula until the barmy sod married me to Claudius.

I think I bloody well deserve some recognition and adulation for that if nothing else, but Claudius thinks the people need a bloody republic. I ask you, a bloody republic?!
