My DH Augustus and I decided to throw an orgy for DD's birthday last week. We sent out 40 or so handmaidens bearing invite scrolls - only about 5 citizens bothered to reply and on the day only one old man, a eunuch and a donkey actually turned up.

We'd hired a triclinium especially - plus some gladiators for entertaining the guests between 'courses'. The whole affair cost us a fair few denarii and the gladiators are refusing to leave the peristylium until they get paid.

Next year I just won't bother - we'll probably just take DD down to the Colosseum to watch a few Christians getting dispatched.
