So, we're sat here watching the Royal Wedding. As Kate was stood in the abbey, being straightened out, DS said "Mummy, the princess wants to sit down". He now thinks they're going to have a party where they drink fruit shoots and coke... Hmm

Meanwhile, my youngest niece (aged 6) thinks Princess Diana has come back from the dead. She's also informed her parents that she wants her wedding to be exactly the same... Grin

Anyone else had any corkers from their kids today?

DD aged 3:

‎"Mummy, mummy why is that lady wearing a helicopter on her head?"
"It's her hat."
"Why are they wearing hats?"
"Because of the Royal Wedding."
"Well they look stupid. They need to ask their mummies to dress them better."

caesar04 · 29/04/2011 13:15

DH at work today and when he rang home to talk to us DS announced he had been watching Christmas on the telly!!! [cconfused]

Slightly concerned till I realised he was just getting words for prince/ss mixed up with Christmas [csmile]

Phew!

captainbarnacle · 29/04/2011 13:17

DS1 - pointing to Kate in her dress - "STAR WARS! STAR WARS!"
DS2 - "Yes, it's all like Star Wars"

pantaloons · 29/04/2011 13:24

DD2 who is 3 said to Dh,

"When the Prince comes to our house you will have to tidy up."

Erm, ok then.

DD1 who is 7 was very concerned about the seat belts and lack of number plates. But has sat glued to the whole thing since she got up (early!) at 7.

Malvapoeding · 29/04/2011 13:27

DD1 (2.5) Mummy she can't be the queen she isn't wearing a crown!

BertieBotts · 29/04/2011 13:31

DS (2) got very excited when they started talking about the train. He thought it was one of the transport variety Grin

Royalcucumberchopper · 29/04/2011 13:49

What's kates jpb, does she work in sainsburys? Why not? What does she do that?

Why do they live in a farmhouse and not a castle?

Why does he fly helicopters?

When will they have a baby? How???

Dd is 9

NedSchneebly · 29/04/2011 13:50

DS 3.9yrs: this is so so so so boring....

During Catherine walking down the aisle to amazing choir singing my fave choral piece of all time ....

He's such a philistine!

xstitch · 29/04/2011 13:53

DD now wants to marry a prince but doesn't want to listen to the man talk so muc

Am36butfeel66 · 29/04/2011 13:55

Dd 3.8 was all concerned that there is a ghost in the Abbey when they prayed about the Holy Ghost...tried to explain about the Holy Ghost and the Trinity...but it was completely lost on her...she looked at me with a terrified face and asked me to get rid of it...[cgrin]

Goblinchild · 29/04/2011 13:56

My niece was cross that the queen wasn't wearing a crown. She also thought that the man in the golden cloak sitting in a golden chair was the king.
Which king?
The King. The prince's daddy.
She liked the horses and the toy soldiers with red and busbies.

Clarabumps · 29/04/2011 13:58

me: that lady in the yellow is the queen
looks unimpressed
DS:not its not mummy
me:yes it is sweetie, thats the queen of england
DS:not its not mummy, thats just an old lady.

Fair enough!

Cantspellmynameright · 29/04/2011 14:19

DD (4) has made a few choice comments this morning..

"why aren't I invited to the wedding?"
"does the Queen like Kate or is she a wicked Queen like in Snow White?"
"where's the fairy godmother?"
"is that the carriage?...where's the pumpkin?"

Disney/Dreamworks have a lot to answer for! :o

nepenthe3 · 29/04/2011 14:32

Great thread, we have also had some classics. My oldest DS decided he wanted to watch, (in spite of his republican parents, who are we to spoil things for him?). He had his own little commentary going including telling DS2 on David Cameron's appearance, "Look, that's what you'll look like if you don't eat your fruit and vegetables". He informed me that KM's new name was 'Princess Williams'. They was also lots of giggling involving Queens and farts.

nepenthe3 · 29/04/2011 14:35

Sorry last sentence should start 'There was...'

nepenthe3 · 29/04/2011 14:36

Oh, and Camilla was being referred to as 'Vanilla'...

sweetkitty · 29/04/2011 14:38

Is Prince Harry going to marry the bridesmaid now? (he wishes)

Where's the Queen's crown?

Why does the Queen have a blanket on her legs in the car, is she cold?

Can Kate actually see through that white thing?

Is the Queen dead yet?

Where's the King? Why doesn't the Queen have a King is he dead?

Can we go?

SummerRain · 29/04/2011 14:44

We have had several reenactments of the royal wedding featuring Ben 10 aliens in place of Royals.....

sb6699 · 29/04/2011 14:52

DD1 also wants to know if Harry has a girlfriend and doesnt think its fair Williams family came in carriages and Kates came on the bus!

DD2 wants to be Kate's sister.

They spent most of their time cooing over the little bridesmaids.

Both of them "is it finished yet?"

Trinaluce · 29/04/2011 15:00

DD (2) spent most of the service asleep on my lap, but loved the horses. Forget pretty dresses and what have you, she nearly died of over-excitement when the flyover went past. Stood an inch from the screen and counted the planes [cgrin]

andrea69 · 29/04/2011 15:15

DD 4.5 " Her dress would be nicer in pink " " It's not very twirly "
" There are no girls in the choir, that's mean, girls sing much more lovelier (sic) than boys " " My Nan should be queen, she has nicer clothes "
While watching the crowd/balcony bit " Are all those people going to the party, they must have a huge lounge " :)

meliesmummy · 29/04/2011 15:19

At lunchtime after the service but before the balcony:

Dd (3): I'll eat quickly so I don't miss the rest of the film
Me: it's not a film, it's real life
Dd: okay then, I'll eat quickly so I don't miss real life!

Also, why do they keep showing the queen, I don't like her, I like the princess! And she was very upset that Kate was marrying Will because Will is her best friend and SHE is going to marry him!

MrsChemist · 29/04/2011 15:25

DS (20mo) pointed at the TV when Kate was getting out of the car and yelled, 'Minger!'

He can't say finger, hence minger, but the timing of it was very amusing.

Pigleychez · 29/04/2011 15:54

Not me but my friends 4yr old asked her why her Playgroup was shut for the day. Mum explained about the royal wedding of William and Kate and how she was going to become a princess and that they could watch it on the tv.
Little girl gets all excited asking if it was her Kate (nursery teacher) that was going to be a princess and shouting about watching her on the tv.
Bless!

My DD1 just had a hissyfit when after the ceremony I told her that they were all going back to the palace for some lunch. She was freaking out that they were going to eat all our food!?

greencaveman · 29/04/2011 15:58

Bride enters church. DS (5) pipes up "This is boring. Can we watch Lightning McQueen instead?". DD (3) - "Am I going to the wedding?" Grin
