Kids eye views of the Royal Wedding.

So, we're sat here watching the Royal Wedding. As Kate was stood in the abbey, being straightened out, DS said "Mummy, the princess wants to sit down". He now thinks they're going to have a party where they drink fruit shoots and coke... Hmm

Meanwhile, my youngest niece (aged 6) thinks Princess Diana has come back from the dead. She's also informed her parents that she wants her wedding to be exactly the same... Grin

Anyone else had any corkers from their kids today?

PigeonPie · 29/04/2011 23:01

DS2 (3) saw the Duchess of Cornwall's hat and said 'ooh - there's the Pirate Queen'!

turnipvontrapp · 29/04/2011 23:06

DS3 (2) wanted to marry me in the bathroom this morning, DS2 (6) just wanted to see them kiss/ snog Grin

duckypoo · 29/04/2011 23:18

Err ds9 MarioandLuigi? Blimey , sorry was lurking and that comment jumped out.

I put it on this morning and ds1 was pretty annoyed to have his usual spongebob habit interrupted. He did however ask about a million questions, who is that? are they taking a taxi? ect.

They seemed to like the kiss and the flyover though.

Sleepingonthebus · 29/04/2011 23:30

My daughter (5) wanted to know when we were leaving to go to the wedding.

She also didn't believe they were married until they kissed.

SoMuchToBits · 29/04/2011 23:33

The thing ds (aged 10) was most impressed with was the huge amount of police! Never mind all the dresses and carriages etc...

"Mummy there are 5000 police officers deployed for this event!" [chmm]

mollymawk · 29/04/2011 23:36

These are all great.

My DS1 (aged 7) enjoyed the whole thing. At the end of the day he said "That royal wedding was the best thing I've ever seen". His favourite bit was when the Queen had to "sit and think" while everyone else sang God Save The Queen.

As the Queen was on her way to the Abbey and the rest of us were speculating about the blue blanket on her lap he said, "Are you sure it's a blanket? Maybe she's just got her jeans on."

theluckiest · 30/04/2011 00:06

The flyover was the big hit in our house. Together with the carriage, horses, police and especially the minibuses that took lesser Royals to the Abbey (my 4 yr old DS is a vehicle nut as you may gather)

He also waved back to Will & Kate. And particularly noted and enjoyed the horse poo all over the Mall.

HRHUrsulaBuffay · 30/04/2011 00:10

DD is only just 2 and doesn't do sentences yet, but I got the impression she felt the choirboys were overplaying their part. She kept saying 'boys' (her new favourite word) and 'house', so she thought WM Abbey was that boy's house God love her [cgrin]

BuntyPenfold · 30/04/2011 00:48

I love all of these; why indeed is she marrying a traffic warden, and there should have been dragons in the flypast; why weren't there? Grin

DontCallMePrincess · 30/04/2011 03:33

Putting a hyper DS to bed earlier

Me: "Do you want to go and see Nanny and Grandad tomorrow?" (He sees them once ayear, and we're spending the week.
DS: "No thank you Mummy. I want to watch the Princess"...

Harry's going to have to hurry up and get married, just to keep DS happy

PorridgeBrain · 30/04/2011 06:40

DD3.8 - 'Mummy why won't the man EVER stop talking!" - says the girl who literally doesn't stop speaking from the moment she wakes up till the moment she goes to bed and even then sometimes sleep talks!!

MissBetsyTrotwood · 30/04/2011 07:42

DS2: "Aah the beautiful princess. She has long beautiful hair."
DS1: "Mummy, where's the dragon?"

fizzpops · 30/04/2011 07:56

DD (3) asked, 'Are they married yet?' after they had finished their vows. I answered that they were and then she asked, 'Are they going to dance now?'. I had to tell her that unlike Disney Princes and Princesses they don't waltz off spontaneously. She was a little disappointed in that but enjoyed the horse drawn carriage.

FreudianSlipOnACrown · 30/04/2011 08:07

Oh this thread is brilliant! MNHQ can you please move this thread because it'd be very sad to lose it!

And can you also send it to the Happy Couple, because I'm sure they'd love to know how much hilarity their wedding has inspired and it might make them broody [cgrin]

bigbuttons · 30/04/2011 08:44

DD3(5) was devastated when she realised she wasn't actually going to the wedding. She had a bag packed and everything.

Vintage65 · 30/04/2011 09:26

DD(3) is convinced that the two children that came to our local street party dressed as William and Kate were the real thing! I tried to explain they were just in fancy dress like her but she's having none of it and is determined that "William and Kate" will come to her 4th birthday party.

HarrietJones · 30/04/2011 11:00

Reading this to dh & we are POSL[cgrin]

shandyleer · 30/04/2011 11:16

When I commented on how lovely Carole Middleton looked, DD said "Yes, she looks much better than you". She loves me really . . . .

siblingrivalry · 30/04/2011 11:44

DD1, looking at TPT: "What's wrong with that lady's nose?!"

Bigbuttons dh and I said 'AWWWW' when we read your post -poor dd!

Honneybunny · 30/04/2011 11:48

DS2(5): where's the train then mama?
After hearing the comments on the dress.

FannyPriceless · 30/04/2011 11:55

DD is 2.5 and I wasn't sure whether she would remember watching the event when she's older.

So I asked her this morning 'What happened yesterday? Did the prince and the princess get married?'

She looked thoughtful then replied excitedly 'Yes... and Daddy went to the TOILET!!'

Obviously the highlight of her day.Grin

bigbuttons · 30/04/2011 13:13

siblingrivalry you have a very observant dd, how funny. Yes I didn't know what to say to DDSad

Suchffun · 30/04/2011 13:54

Looking at the crowds and campers: "I'm glad we don't go camping there Mummy, me and dsis would be BORED."

Suchffun · 30/04/2011 13:56

Oh and DD:

Can they SEE us Mummy?
No DD, they're on TV
But I'm waving my flag for them

DS is planning to write to Prince Harry to ask if he can be a pageboy when he gets married as they have similar hair and he would like to wear a solider outfit.
