So, we're sat here watching the Royal Wedding. As Kate was stood in the abbey, being straightened out, DS said "Mummy, the princess wants to sit down". He now thinks they're going to have a party where they drink fruit shoots and coke... Hmm

Meanwhile, my youngest niece (aged 6) thinks Princess Diana has come back from the dead. She's also informed her parents that she wants her wedding to be exactly the same... Grin

Anyone else had any corkers from their kids today?

ds (3) was extremely excited. LOOK MUMMY - MOTORBIKES!!!! SOLDIERS!!!! HORSES!!!

(he was bored and fidgety with the fancy dress people bits) Grin

MarioandLuigi · 29/04/2011 16:17

DS9 got me to rewind the kiss three times - he is 10 and thinks Kate has lovely hair apparently :o

thebestisyettocome · 29/04/2011 16:21

DS2 said about Rowan Williams "Is that God?"
He also said about Kate's brother who was reading the lesson in a suitably solemn fashion "Does that man never smile?"

thanksamillion · 29/04/2011 16:35

DS (4) asked if the children (bridesmaids/pageboys) were getting married too.

LifeOfKate · 29/04/2011 18:15

DS (16 months) was very cute when they came out onto the balcony and started waving at them :o I have to admit I got a tear in my eye at that point (blame pregnancy hormones) Blush

hobnob57 · 29/04/2011 20:28

dd1 got very excited after the vows when the couple were sitting at the side and William looked towards the camera. "He looked at me!!!!!GrinGrinBlush"

Pkam · 29/04/2011 21:09

When they were speculating on dress designs and showing pictures of wedding dresses - DD2 (3) to DD1 (4): 'Can you move your leg, you're in the way of the prettiness'.

DD2 after the vows: 'I'm going to play now, can you call me when they have a baby?'

eggyminniewhingesagain · 29/04/2011 21:15

DD (4)wanted to know 'why has she got that net on her face?'
And she was very worried to see the train 'Look Mummy, her dress is dragging on the ground !'

SpiderObsession · 29/04/2011 21:18

"A canary!!!" DS(2)

Shhhh don't tell her majesty

SummerLightning · 29/04/2011 21:18

Me: this lady is called Kate. She's getting married. Do you think she's pretty?
Ds(2): yes! ( enthusiastically)
Dh: is mummy pretty?
Ds: NOOOOOOO
Cheeky sod

Mamaz0n · 29/04/2011 21:20

"she isn't the queen, she is just a grandma. The queen wears a crown mummy"

PurveyorOfBaloney · 29/04/2011 21:33

DD who is 4 was VERY pleased when William (and later Kate) waved directly to the camera because she thought they were waving directly at HER "William really likes me" she declared proudly. She was pretty bored by the rest of it, but did think that maybe Princess Beatrice was dressed as a reindeer Grin

DS (19 months) gaily waved back at the TV and ran around shouting "Cake, Cake" because he misheard Kate, he was most disappointed when none was forthcoming Grin

Maiasaurus · 29/04/2011 21:37

DS2 asked, "Why isn't that woman wearing a hat? Doesn't she know it's a Royal Wedding ?"

Shame on you, Samantha Cameron. A 6-year-old boy knows better. Grin

KenDoddsDadsDog · 29/04/2011 21:47

DD, 16 months waved like mad throughout. And touched the TV saying aaah when they walked back down the aisle.
But did a pooh as she got scared by the trumpet fanfare Grin

ABouttoeatalltheeggsGIRL · 29/04/2011 21:47

DS2 (age 3) also wedding obsessed now, wanted DH to turn rugby off this evening so he could watch a bit more (has been on for at least 6 hours already today...)

DS1 wanted to know if William and Catherine will be King and Queen from tomorrow onwards...

Fieldofdreams · 29/04/2011 21:55

DD(4) as Kate and Wills came out of the Abbey after the ceremony, 'Well, they'd better hurry up and get to hospital before the baby comes out'!!! Bless!!

Meglet · 29/04/2011 21:59

2yo DD "William has a castle"

4yo DS "Diana was called Diana because she died" Hmm

MsHighwater · 29/04/2011 22:05

DD (5) "Mummy, why is Prince William wearing a traffic warden's hat?"

BramblyHedge · 29/04/2011 22:21

I was discussing Eugenie's (in my opinion) bizarre pretzel hat with DP and DS (5) said, 'where's the Genie with the silly hat?'

Also, 'Mummy why does that lady have shoe/ boat/ tree on her head?'

DS also has high expectations of my brother's wedding in June and now wants to be a page boy and thinks there will be trumpeters and lots of dressing up in funny uniforms!

CultureMix · 29/04/2011 22:22

DS, nearly 4, was very interested in the wedding procession for Prince William and King Katie (yes). He was disappointed however that there were no dragons in the flyover.

nanatothree · 29/04/2011 22:31

DGS (6) "Did you get married in that church mummy?"
DD "Err no"
DGS "Did you ride in a carriage mummy?"
DD " No I'm afraid not"
DGS " Well where are they going now?"
Me "To B.Palace for something to eat"
DGS "Where?"
Me "To his Nana's house"
DGS "They're going to your house!!!"
Talk about laugh :)

Daffodilly · 29/04/2011 22:31

DS(2) spotted the horse drawn carriage and announced "donkeys". He wouldn't be persuaded that they were horses. So shall henceforth be known as a "donkey-drawn carriage" in this household.

DD(4) seemed to be expecting the newlyweds to arrive and join our street party. Fortunately she was easily distracted with some fairy cakes before getting disappointed!

Amiable · 29/04/2011 22:47

DD (aged 5) - we watched the wedding itself in the morning, then turned the telly off. Then we switched on the news at 6pm and they were showing highlights from the day. dd looked up at the screen and asked "is it still the wedding? it's sooo boring, it's much too long".

also, when she saw Beatrice's bizarre hat, "Mummy, why is that girl wearing that on her head? Did no-one tell her she looks ridiclious (sic)" [cgrin]

Valpollicella · 29/04/2011 22:53

As Kate walked down the aisle, DS said:

'That's a long way she's got to walk. Has she forgotten her scooter?'

As the Lancaster went over the palace:

'I sawed one of those at the museum. Are they going to drop bombs?'

Changebagsandgladrags · 29/04/2011 22:58

We saw Windsor castle the other day so I told DS it was the Queen's house. Then we saw Buck Pal on telly so he wanted to know if the one I showed him was actually her house or this one.

Also informed me that he has an Abbey in his class.
