Ginger will always want cuddles, being a Tom.

Envy of kitten fun.

Made the mistake of showing DD the pics over the weekend.

Pinot · 04/07/2011 13:30

Ooh Exit get a kitten! So far, we've not had any wee/poo accidents since the first week of litter training (week 4) and no scratched furniture as we've bought 3 cheap scratching posts and dotted them around the house.

Doooooo ittttttttt Grin

SummerRain · 04/07/2011 13:58

awww.... reading about them is making me all weepy remembering my lot as kittens Smile

ExitPursuedByAKitten · 04/07/2011 14:39

But two is always better than one isn't it?

DD is allergic to cats (ish) so I have been monitoring her since my old girl went in November.

I think I will have to accidentally find a couple of needy strays

Pinot · 04/07/2011 14:59

Well in a weirdy beirdy way, I thought I was allergic. I always get streamy eyes/itchy nose with other peoples cats and have to take Piriton when I'm visiting them. But at home I'm fine. Strange, non? I wonder if it's because I built up allergens (?) when they were tiny and had not much hair/dander or some'at?

I think kittens - 2 is better as they can fight and play together.

Older cats - not sure. One would be fine I'd have thought?

Love the new pics Pinot, they're so adorable.

Kestryn · 17/07/2011 15:22

How are the kittens Pinot?

Pinot · 17/07/2011 17:40

Hi all (and Kestryn who reminded me to post!)

The babies are 13 weeks now and have finished their vaccinations (with no ill effects this time) and are microchipped and wormed :) Fingers crossed no more vets visits until they get spayed at 5/6 months Grin Grin

I found Meow asleep in the sink this morning - she'd been playing with a dripping tap, exhausted herself and was asleep in a puddle!! Meanwhile Ginger was killing his first ever victim - a teeny spider in the conservatory. He carried it around in his mouth and dropped it at my feet (dead thank gawd). I'm proud of him, obvs, but a tad trepidacious of what awaits me with future 'gifts' !!!

They both now run to the food bowl when I shake the food tin :) :)

Been on hols and just returned to check up on the kits. See they are doing fabulously. Am I being thick about your name change P?

Kestryn · 18/07/2011 01:14

Thanks Pin0t. I was looking round all over the place for your new name so I could admire the pictures. They're looking gorgeous Smile

Pinot · 18/07/2011 08:29

I want to be just Pinot but it's taken (by someone who never ever ever posts Angry ) so I have to have a zero not an o. How rubbish!!

I change often anyway so might add the kittens bit back on again soon :)

Managed to miss this thread somehow until was searching for kitten threads earlier today as we have 6 unexpected teeny tiny kittens that are 3 days old.

What a brilliant thread. Pinot you are a complete hero. I am absolutely shattered and we have the Mum cat who is feeding them, apart from one little one who never seems to get any in the kitten scrum. Can't imagine how exhausting it must have been and it's so lovely to see the photos from tiny to how they are now . You have done so brilliantly.

Love the ones with Ruby, am hoping my dog will do the same in a few weeks time.

Pinot · 21/07/2011 09:30

Aww thanks Wynken :) Put piccies on your profile please !! It is exhausting and I hope not to have to do it ever again - much as I adore my kittens now, the worry and stress was completely overwhelming at times, whoch together with the night feeds and being limited to going out and having to be home every 2 hours - well, I was a bit of an emotional wreck tbh. And little Rosie is still very much missed :(

OP posts:
WynkenBlynkenandNod · 21/07/2011 10:15

Yes can definitely understand the emotional wreck. We're off to the vets at 11 as another of our cats came home yesterday with a tail injury. She seems OK but want to make sure.

The smallest kitten is coming with us as not gaining weight despite best efforts and is a worry. You get attached to them so quickly don't you, especially if hand feeding (am topping Titch up every couple of hours.

Will sort profile later but here they are, photos aren't very good.

Pinot · 21/07/2011 10:31

Oh they're all so beautiful! A fantastic mix of tabby colours and MummyCat looks wonderfully happy :) I hope Titch is OK, if you can persevere with handfeeding it's worth it - Meow (our girl) was much smaller than Rosie and Ginger and she made it through, and is still a small little thing. Rosie was bigger and didn't make it so you can never tell - hoping Titch will be strong as well as small

(Also, if you're local-ish to Sussex my Mum is now looking for a kitten to home!)

ExitPursuedByAGryffin · 21/07/2011 13:04

Wow Wynken - they are georgeous - and so is Mum!

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 21/07/2011 16:54

Thank you both. Someone said they look like rats which I guess to be fair they kind of do, and I found myself feeling really insulted.

Vet has checked Titch over and there's nothing obviously wrong with him so we just need to keep at the whole topping him up thing. Got a teat for the syringe which is helping a bit.

Interesting what you said about Meow. There's a little one I was worried about , she was only 64g when born but is doing fine now. Titch was bigger at 82g but lost a lot of weight the first day bless him. He was the last born.

Can't workout how to get pictures from phone to profile but here's a couple more:

Kitten scrumble

Titch

Pinot, I am Dorset/Hampshire border. Don't know how you did OT without the mother cat, I'm absolutely sodding knackered and have a stiff neck from spending my life on my knees, arse in air and head peering into a box!

Pinot · 21/07/2011 17:15

Ooh Lordy I profess my love for Titch here and now! I'm relieved he's been given a clean bill of health, as far as any Vet can, though I found a syringe a nightmare - it didn't seem to replicate their natural suckling reflex. The teat should help alot with that, but if not, get the little bottles here or similiar. They're what I used and are great. I gave ours away otherwise I'd have sent you them.

Another tip, for when they get bigger is to buy one of those large clear containers from Ikea or The Range, like this one that means Mum Cat can escape over the top but they squirmy little babies can't get out. Also easy to see through to save your back!

Oooh it takes me back :) :)

ExitPursuedByAGryffin · 21/07/2011 17:29

O.M.G. Sign me up for the Titch fan club immediately.

Pin0t - you need to teah Wynken how to upload pics on her profile so we can get regular pictorial updates.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 21/07/2011 17:56

Oh brilliant, have ordered one. He's just had a decentish feed with the teat thing and made it to all of 86g. I am a woman possessed with the scales and figures. The vet gave me a slightly pitying look when I asked if he wanted to see all the numbers.

Titch has to improve the next few days as we're due to go away to two weeks at end of the month and I can't go if he's still on the edge. My neighbour is going to look after them, she was there when the first one came out and got a bit stuck, she saved the day (mother cat knows her very well and spends most of the day there usually)

But now no one wants to go and we have to really as house needs rewiring and we do need to go. But I don't want to leave my tiny little kittens as they will grow up and I will have to fight my neighbour to get them back again.

Will try again with profile tomorrow, when hopefully more with it.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 22/07/2011 01:47

Titch isn't going to survive the night Sad Sad Sad

Kestryn · 22/07/2011 01:59

I'm so sorry, Wynken :(

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 22/07/2011 02:02

Thanks Kestryn.

Kestryn · 22/07/2011 02:14

They're all beautiful. I don't know much about cats but I fell in love with Meow & Ginger from the start of the thread & yours are equally gorgeous.
