Oh Pinot they are lovely. I shall be so proud when mine get to that stage and I haven't really had to do anything since poor old Titch died.

The smallest is about 100g lighter than the biggest. She didn't put on yesterday so will watch her today. Thing is though she was too busy escaping yesterday to eat, 3 times she got out, the only one who managed. She's going to my neighbour so will be in good hands but visiting us for her holidays which will be fab. Think they are going to have their hands full with her.

3 of them met the dog and other cats properly which went pretty well. One cat got the hump and stalked off. The other cat who is still young himself was a bit worried at first and still stays at a safe distance but is OK. The dog is great with them. She's lab size but really gentle with them, lies down in front of them which we rewarded frequently with hot dog.

Loving the new pics - they look enormous!

I want to sleep with kittens.

The flipside I get woken every morning by the waft of poop. Meow likes a good clear-out at about 6.30 every morning, without fail. As I've found out, you can try hiding your head under the duvet cover but the smell pervades...and you have to get up & deal with. Even on a school holiday day. When your bed is ooooh-sooooo-comfy.

Hope that helps, a bit of balance Grin

Mmm Cat Poo - had forgotten how smelly it can be. Are they going outside yet? Can't they be trained to do it elsewhere - preferably in someone else's garden?

Pinot · 15/08/2011 12:17

It is pungent.

Nope, not outside yet - I was going to after our holidays but now I'm home they still seem so small to deal with the ravages of outside. I know I'm fussing, but I'd like them to stay inside (with me) until they're a bit bigger. Actually that's reminded me to start a thread on The Litter Tray bit for advice. All gratefully received :)

Don't talk to me about cat poo, Mum cat is flipping horrendous and went about 4 times in an hour yesterday. Am dreading 5 pooing kittens.

I have done different things with different cats Pinot. I've had some who just found their way out of the cat flap and it would have been a trauma to try and keep them in with the other cats in and out all day. Our youngest cat we got in December at 12 weeks and kept him in until neutured at 6 months, but he didn't try to get out.

With the new one (still not sure which of 2 we are keeping, depends on other people) I think we will try for 6 months again. However if we keep Suki I think she'll work the cat flap out fairly early, she's flipping fast. Bilbo much slower and would hope we'd have a chance of keeping him in. Garbling on a bit but think summary is in an ideal world best to try and keep them in until had their op.

Similiar here Wynken - Meow (the girl) is a savvy little monkey. Ginger is more chilled out...it's Meow that will attempt Houdini-esque excape manoeuvres I'm sure! I'll keep them in until 6months & spaying though - nooooo more kittens here

How are the kittens, Pinot and Wynken?

(was Kestryn)

Pinot · 16/09/2011 13:54

'ello :) Nice namechange!

They're big and boisterous! I changed their food from Iams to Petathome stuff and we've had squitty poo's all week so back to the Iams as was very smelly and ewwwwww here this week!! They're wearing collars now as they've started following me to the bin outside and I worry about them getting lost Blush They still sleep on my bed all night, between my feet! Love them x

Ooh yes I'll do new pics this week They are huge now!

Had a bad day yesterday though - had a day of stress and worry and ickyness. Meow (my girl kitten) had her leg trapped in the dogs crate, it was twisted and she was freaking out, biting at DH who now has over 40 scratches and bite marks on his hand. We thought it was broken (her leg) so raced to the vets and then waited fretting like eejits as they took her in. Turns out it's ligament damage and torn muscles (from the twisting) and will take a few weeks to heal. Ligs are more painful than breaks :( :( So she is massively swollen and really sleepy (from the drugs we have for her) and I feel soooooooo awful that my tiny girl kitten is all mangled.

EmpressOfTheFucknuggetOceans · 18/09/2011 13:31

Poor Meow Sad and poor you and DH. Hope she's better soon.

oopslateagain · 19/09/2011 09:12

Ohhh poor Meow. My friend's cat had ligament damage from getting caught in a fence, she ended up having a lady come to the house to do physio! All paid for by pet insurance thankfully. Hope Meow feels better soon, poor thing. Lots of hugs and treats, I think!

Do watch out though - my friend's cat put on a huge amount of weight (well, huge for a cat) because she wasn't moving about much but was still eating as normal. You might want to look into getting 'indoor' catfood for her for a while once she feels better, it's still filling but has less calories.

Waiting for photos! Grin

Pinot · 19/09/2011 09:28

She seems a little brighter this morning and managed to jump on my bed for a cuddle this morning, bless her. She's licking at the swelling furiously but I don't think that's a bad thing - maybe it'll help redistribute the puff

I'll do pics!!

ColdSancerre · 19/09/2011 09:31

Oh poor Meow, she sounds like she is being very brave though.

Pinot · 19/09/2011 10:51

New piccies up :)

OP posts:
EmpressOfTheFucknuggetOceans · 19/09/2011 11:21

Thank you Smile I hope that means she's feeling a bit better.

5inthebed · 19/09/2011 11:53

Oh my!

Saw this in active convos, didn't realise it was still going!

Meow and Ginger are sooooo big now Pinot and just as adorable! Poor MEow with her poorly leg though, hope it heals quickly.

Wynken, sorry about Titch. The kittens are gorgeous!

Pinot · 19/09/2011 13:17

Ha yep you can't shut me up :) They're 5 months old now - amazing isn't it? Meow has eaten really well today - making up for lost time I expect. That's got to be a good sign I think. Off to the Vets later for a check up so all crossed.

OP posts:
ColdSancerre · 19/09/2011 14:16

5 months already. I was asking DP for a kitten again last night, got nowhere. Youngest cat is 3 now and doesn't do cuddles.

Pinot · 19/09/2011 14:37

Oh no fair. Be wily like moi and say it's either a kitten or a puppy/new baby/raccoon/insert-random-of-choice. See, in comparison, he should positively jump at the choice of a kitten. Seriously though, kittens and cats are no trouble are they, especially if you have a cat already - I can't see his reasons for saying no.

OP posts:
ColdSancerre · 19/09/2011 14:40

He says we can get a puppy and we'd really like a a baby. Raccoons I'm not so sure about.

oopslateagain · 19/09/2011 14:44

Oh no, they're all grown up! Grin Well done Pinot, you must be so proud when you think of those tiny balls of fluff and the constant feeding!

Pinot · 19/09/2011 14:46

I really am proud, oops, I can't believe it all happened really. It was mad for a while, eh?

ColdS - puppies are so much harder work than kittens...
