ChocolateEggyrolls · 23/04/2011 10:20

Oh poor little Rosie, she might not have had the best start in life being abandoned by her birth mummy but she was very much loved by her surrogate mummy and her adoptive MN mummies Sad

(I can't believe I am sobbing for a kitten I never met Blush)

Oh so sorry. Just read through the whole thread and was so impressed at how you'd basically handed over your life to these little needy creatures. Very sad that you've lost Rosie. Hope you're OK.

JaneS · 23/04/2011 10:59

Oh, Pinot, I am so sorry. But you gave her a lovely comfortable few days and it sounds as if, if you hadn't found her, she would have been suffering, so you did a really good thing.

Sorry - you must be feeling awful, hope the other kittens are giving you plenty of distraction.

TrillianAstra · 23/04/2011 11:06

Poor Rosie. :(

SummerRain · 23/04/2011 11:13

So sorry Pinot Sad

Don't beat yourself up... even with the absolutely fantastic care you've been giving her a congenital problem is a tough hurdle for any kitten... made even harder by her birth mother's lack of maternal skill. She had the absolute best chance she could have gotten thanks to your love and care but unfortunately kittens are so tiny and fragile it doesn't take much to tip the scales. You gave her warmth, medical care and love that she wouldn't otherwise have had and she had a few days of being adored and well cared for, so much more than she'd have had otherwise.

Be proud of the beautiful thing you did for her and know that you did everything humanly possible to help her {{{{hugs}}}} Brew

(dp was also very sad to hear btw.... which just goes to show how touching your story is as normally he wouldn't be the least bit interested in kitten stories and pictures i bombard him with)

lubeybooby · 23/04/2011 11:15

No :( how sad x

Blimey you are all lovely. I didn't think I'd have any tears left in me but you've made me sob again.

Darling, sweet and delicate Rosie is buried in our garden which seems appropriate as she was born there.

The other two have fed well overnight and both gained a bit of weight this morning. Makes them all the more precious to me - and to DH, he was in pieces last night and has said we can keep both Ginger and Meow (if they make it) he said he can't bear to lose another one.

Luckily the kids were well prepared (thanks to MN advice) and have accepted it as best they can.

Last night, watching her go was far and away the worst thing I've witnessed. I feel a bit broken.

So sorry to hear this. What a wild ride her short life was, but you made her feel safe and warm and loved.

LoopyLoopsNincompoop · 23/04/2011 11:51

You and your family are doing so brilliantly. You sound like an amazing mum, both to your humans and your kittens. They are very very lucky and you should be proud that little Rosie was give a a good chance. So sorry she didn't make it, but you did everything you could and more.

Take care of yourself too, remember. xxx :)

SummerRain · 23/04/2011 11:54

Pinot.... I've been there so I have some idea how destroyed you feel right now. It does get better and the horror fades. Seeing a life vanish in front of you is just the worst experiance imaginable {{{yet more hugs}}}

CaveMum · 23/04/2011 12:07

Oh Pinot I'm so sorry to hear that Rosie has gone Sad
Be assured that you gave her the best possible chance in life and if positive thinking can help Ginger and Meow fight on they have the thoughts and best wishes of thousands of Mners (((hug)))

Meow75 · 23/04/2011 12:27

crying

Nothing more to be said than that really. So sorry about Rosie. Sad

TheDinnerWitch · 23/04/2011 12:34

Oh I'm so so sorry about this. Sad But like the others have said, at least she passed surrounded by love and warmth, which is far better than she would have had outside. Be strong. (((hug)))

tribpot · 23/04/2011 12:35

How very sad for you all, Pinot. My own little rescue cat, Harry Potter, was found with three kittens living rough (she's a girl cat despite her name) and fortunately rescued by CPL with all three kittens thriving (of course there may have been others that were lost before she was rescued). I feel so sorry for the mum cat as well, thank goodness you were there to help her out this time at least :(

Poor little Rosie, at least her life was as kind as you could make it in the time she was here.

TorcherQueenie · 23/04/2011 12:54

Pinot, I've lurked this thread from the beginning and described it to all who would listen along with you as the wonderful loving cat lady. You did so much for little Rosie and hearing of her death has made me post. Feel happy for the life she spent with you don't weep for her she had the best although short life a kitten could wish for away from her mummy. You're an amazing person.

TapselteerieO · 23/04/2011 12:55

Pinot it is so hard, you have done so well, giving them all the care you can, it is heartbreaking watching a kitten die, I sadly have experience of that.

I just hope that the brilliant care you are giving Ginger & Meow helps them to survive, big hugs.
