Oh shit Sad

(apologies for swearing, but i wasn't prepared to read that, and am now in tears)

Pinot - You did everything possible to ensure she had the best start in life, sadly nature had other plans.. So sorry

GitAwfMayLend · 23/04/2011 13:58

Oh HOW have I missed this wonderful thread.

I have just got to the end and I am sobbing at poor Rosie dying. DP came in from the garden and saw me crying, asked what was up 'a kitten died on mumsnet'. He gave me a 'there there' kiss on the head.

Now I need a cuddle from on of my little boys, but they are empatically NOT cats who cuddle me, they are daddy's boys.

(I am also a complete cat nut alongside DP and DD - if I could get away with it I would have a house full of them)

pinot you are a wonderful person - I hope you get a million karma points for being so dedicated to these kittens. Ditto summer (beautiful pics of you and your cats and kids btw) and of course Val. Thank god there are people like you in the world.

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 23/04/2011 16:45

Pinot - I am so sorry to hear about lovely little Rosie, and I have tears in my eyes. GitAwf is absolutely right - you are a wonderful person who made this lovely kitten's last few days warm, comfortable and full of love.

DramaInPyjamas · 23/04/2011 16:52

Aww.. Pinot. Such sad news.

Was reading the whole thread last night before I went to bed and was showing DD the photos on your profile. She is a massive animal lover and is so sad to hear about the Rosie the kitten ):
The world is a better place with people like you in it. You are wonderful.
x

TheOriginalFAB · 23/04/2011 17:04

Oh no Sad.

I am so sorry for you Pinot, your DP and kids and for all fellow mumsnetters who were willing Rosie to make it. Her life was very short but it was the best it could have been and a million times better than it would have been if you hadn't taken her in.

purpleknittingmum · 23/04/2011 17:44

Oh no :(

You did the best you could and she knew she was loved xx

Northernlurker · 23/04/2011 17:45

I'm so Sad to see this news.
Willing Ginger and Meow to keep on going.

GitAwfMayLend · 23/04/2011 17:57

Mind you I spent ages earlier looking at local animal rescue shelters, and getting teary eyed about pictures of dogs with grey whiskers. I wish I could get a dog

Minione · 23/04/2011 20:29

Oh, Pinot, I've followed this thread and I'm so sorry to hear about Rosie. I will have to break the sad news to DH now, he was cooing over their photos on Thursday x

SecretNutellaFix · 23/04/2011 20:34

I'm sorry pinot. Fingers are crossed for Ginger and Meow to get bigger, stronger and healthier and in 5 or six weeks will have to be plucked from the top of the curtains.

You did your best for her, and you couldn't have done any more.

Hadeda · 23/04/2011 21:50

Pinot - I have been lurking all week as on blackberry that won't let me post, so so sorry to hear about Rosie.

When I was at uni I worked at a vet and someone brought in a kitten, probably about 2 weeks old then. He meowed all afternoon and I couldn't leave him there so I brought him home "for the night". Yeah, right! 14 years later he was still living happily at my mum's house. He was slightly cross eyed and a bit clumsy - the sort of cat that would jump for the couch and miss, slide off in an ungainly manner, check whether anyone was watching and march off, tail in the air in a "I absolutely meant to do that" sort of way.

Anyway, the weekend your kittens were born, Tyson was off his food and clearly off colour. Mum took him to the vet on Monday who said he had problems with his liver. He was on a drip, morphine, medication and had a liver scan on Tuesday. He died at the vet around 11am on Wednesday. Mum had an appointment with the vet to talk about his scan at 11:30. She is absolutely distraught that he died alone at the vet.

Reading about your kittens has made me remember the early days with Ty, when he was such a tiny kitten. We gave him porridge on a teaspoon at first. And, like yours, he was all purr and hardly any cat. Smile
I so hope Ginger and Meow continue to thrive, it's so fab to read about them every day. I plan to print this thread and send it to mum, I think it might also make her feel better about Tyson. Good luck good luck good luck!! You are doing such a wonderful job.

Pinot · 23/04/2011 22:39

Hadeda that is such a lovely tale about Tyson, what a star he was. I understand how sad your Mum must feel at not being with Ty at the end but I actually think it's kinder to your Mum not to have to watch him go. He sounds like he was a proud little thing, so I wonder if he might have chosen it that way too.

Thanks all of you for your lovely, lovely words - I have read your messages through tears and a few times have had to stop when a few got a bit too close.

I am beyond proud that my tiny girl touched you all and I am feeling happy that she has left a little paw print on your hearts, as she has mine.

Pinot - please keep us updated still with your other two treasures, we are all feeling for you about Rosie but still are desperate to know how "our" kittens are doing. Hope your children are still taking it as well as they can x

Pinot · 23/04/2011 22:59

Oh yes Choc, I will, I absolutely will. They both put on a bit of weight and Ginger isn't constipated anymore - I even had him fart directly into my face when I was rubbing his 'area' this morning whilst holding him on my chest, which the DCs thought was hilarious! He then did an almighty poo and in true baby fashion, I was pleased and told him he was a clever boy Grin

Meow has lost her umbilical cord and is really getting furry on her tummy - it's quite curly (can cats have curly hair?!) so DH thinks she's growing an afro! She met my Mum and Sis today and they were won over by how wonderful and full of personality they are.

Onwards and upwards :)

Oops pressed send too soon. The kids have been amazing - no tears since we buried her. My fantastic boys have made me very proud today x

HazeltheMcWitch · 23/04/2011 23:11

Oh, Pinot - just seen today's posts. So very sorry about Rosie.
Please do take heart from knowing that you gave her every chance, but it just was not to be.

fridakahlo · 24/04/2011 00:27

Really sorry to hear about Rosie Sad. Was talking to my dh about you hand rearing the kittens and his eyes went really soft edges so theres hope for getting a kitty kat (or two) yet.
Thank you for sharing this amazing thing your doing with us all xxxx.

SummerRain · 24/04/2011 08:58

BornThisWayBaby · 24/04/2011 09:31

So sorry to hear about Rosie Sad

Pinot · 24/04/2011 11:59

Morning! Happy Easter to all the MN surrogate kitty mummies! [busmile]

New pics x2 are up

Meow put on 45g yesterday so she's giving Ginger a run for his money in the fatso stakes! :)

Their little ears seem to have popped up abit and are upright now like a proper cat rather than down and low. So cute! :)

tribpot · 24/04/2011 12:01

They're adorable, Pinot!

TrillianAstra · 24/04/2011 12:04

Happy Easter to Ginger and Meow! :)

SummerRain · 24/04/2011 12:09

Awww... thanks for the pics, they look so fluffy and adorable [melts]

I love the stage where they start to look like mini cats instead of wingless bats [bugrin]

purpleknittingmum · 24/04/2011 12:18

Sooooo cute!!! [bugrin]

saffronwblue · 24/04/2011 12:44

They are honey buns. Hang in there little ones, keep on stacking on the weight.
