No, we are not getting kittens until FabCat leaves us but it was you saying about 3 being the magic number. Grin

TheOriginalFAB · 22/04/2011 13:19

Oops, cat not cart!!

Pinot · 22/04/2011 13:21

Ahhh! Yes gotcha!

I have 3 kids and 3 dogs so I think 3 is the magic number!!! I get though that it wouldn't be fair on FabCat ...but maybe 3 in the future. I must stop - I'm a bad influence!! I'm like a kitten-dealer [bugrin]

Blush Thanks Hazel.

even dp just gushed at those pics.... Grin

TheOriginalFAB · 22/04/2011 13:28

LOL at kitten dealer Grin.

It is not an option to have another cat while we still have FabCat.

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 22/04/2011 13:49

Ddog says thankyou for the compliments, Pinot - she does know she's gorgeous (and given some of her naughtiness, it is just as well she's cute!

I will see if I can soften dh up with cute kitten pictures and persuade him we need another addition to the family. Not sure dcat is going to agree - do you think cute kitten pics would work on him too?? Grin

Pinot · 22/04/2011 13:58

SDTG - Oh yes they will! It's the tiny purring that makes me heart leap every time - Meow has also taken to rolling on her back as she likes a tummy stroke....she's only 6 days old!

And did you read Stewies post about the cat that thinks its a parrot?

I have just melted!

[bugrin]

[swoon] at tiny kitten having belly rubs [bugrin]

My fat tub of a momcat must have known i've been eyeing up kittens as she was doing a good impersonation of one last night... I was bullied into belly rubbing her the entire length of the movie we watched, she even grabbed my hand in her paws a few times and licked it. You'd never guess she was a timid little stray 3 years ago!

purpleknittingmum · 22/04/2011 17:25

Our cat loves belly rubs!

FolornHope · 22/04/2011 17:33

THOSE PICS ARE TO DIE FOR

Pinot · 22/04/2011 17:46

Summer and Purple - we have struck lucky I think. Thanks Forlorn :)

Awwwwwwww Pinot, they are adorable!

My ex-male cat had kittens the beginning of last month and they have just left to go to their new homes Sad Looking at your pics brings back fond memories. You will have so much fun with them!

Pinot · 22/04/2011 18:08

Any tips 5inthebed? When did yours open eyes/move onto solids etc? It's been years since I had kittens in the house - it's all coming back to me though!! LOL at "ex-male cat" Grin

Did mummy cat never come back?

I can't remember when my mum weaned our kitten but I can remember she was advised by the vet to use jars of baby food but that was about 20 years ago!

SummerRain · 22/04/2011 19:09

we started leaving a plate of wet kitten food in the travel cot the kittens lived in around 3/4 weeks. Some of them ate it at that age, some not for a few weeks. All of them walked through it and made a disgusting mess [bugrin]

5inthebed · 22/04/2011 19:22

If they are short haired cats, their eyes will open from day 7, long haired from day 14.

You can start weaning them onto kitten food from 4 weeks, but I waited until TCFKA Diego was getting sick of feeding them. Normally the mother stops feeding them as much when they get teeth in, maybe you can look out for this?

A saucer of food usually works, I started by putting some of the jelly in their mouths and then some small broken up bits of food. They soon got the hang of it.

SummerRain · 22/04/2011 19:38

5inthebed.... I wish my mother cat had stoped feeding when teeth appeared. She fed several of her kittens until 15 weeks, whilst heavily pregnant with the next lot [bushock]

And she generally felt the need to haul her pregnant and nursing arse ontop of my pregnant and nursing self in some sort of female comradeship.

Many of my memories of ds2's pregnancy are of being squashed under a fat pregnant cat, several kittens, ds1 and a bump struggling to breathe [bugrin]

glastocat · 22/04/2011 20:30

Aww summer, that sounds lovely!

TheOriginalFAB · 22/04/2011 20:50

Thank heavens for this thread. DD was crying earlier and the kitten photos cheered her up.

SummerRain · 22/04/2011 21:27

Check out my profile to see poor ds2 at 3 months still under a blanket of cats. The black one by his head became so attached to him that we kept her instead of rehoming her as planned.

DP swears ds2 thinks he's a cat himself Grin

fridakahlo · 22/04/2011 21:39

Summer, that sounds quite fun actually! And that picture of your ds and the pussycats is simply gorgeous! V. V. Jealous!

purpleknittingmum · 22/04/2011 22:19

Your cat is lovely Summer! And the photo with your baby is cute!

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 22/04/2011 23:15

It's beyond cute, Summer - and now I want several kittens not just one.

BTW - given that cats have this inbuilt sense that they are lord and master of all they survey and the rest of us exist merely to serve, if your ds thinks he's a cat, he should go far! [busmile] Do watch out for him sitting in high backed swivel chairs holding a cat and stroking it, though....

TapselteerieO · 22/04/2011 23:46

Pinot the weight gain sounds great! (I know nothing about weight gain though, remember when my pfb gained 2oz in a week and I thought it was great she had gained weight).

Pinot · 23/04/2011 10:02

Dear all

Rosie died last night

R.I.P. little one x
