I know there was no time and I feel all weighed down with the responsibility of it all, but here we are ladies, a new home...

TSF, DPs dad is very not-good. In intensive care still, has oxygen constantly and is thoroughly exhausted. He is having a lighter (but longer) dialysis to see if that helps. But its awfully like his body is failing on so many levels. DP saw him last night and came home a little tearful. His dad is not an emotional man normally but wanted to hold hands with DP. They couldn't talk much because of the oxygen mask but it was enough. DP has to go away for two days tomorrow morning and I wish it wasn't so. He's just started a new job and so its hard to take time off or get some slack. He is extremely conscientious and they will never have a problem with him on that front but they don't know that.....they just see their new man needing time off. Anyway, we will get there.

I'd like to visit but there is scarlet fever at nursery and I don't know if I could be carrying anything.......will go and start a thread about for advice I think.

Morning Shabs, Ruby, a'bdy.

Momma, you so have your hands full, I don't know how you cope, rather you than me, you are a busy girl, haven't you heard of television, and other insults well worn phrases PMSL! Its a long day without DP/DH isn't it? Getting up at the crack and still folding laundry at midnight. I'd love a laundry woman! Mrs Tiggywinkle would be perfect Hope you are getting some time for you in there.

frumpygrumpy · 17/03/2009 10:23

Trips, you are a new woman these days! Truly.

Will H stomach any of the nutrition drinks? After my DD1 had SJS/Kawasaki the hospital nutritionist met with me to discuss how I could get her body back to normal and accepting and digesting food again. She started on little milkshakes which she hated (they didn't taste the best but one of the flavours wasn't too bad). We built up into real food slowly but she stayed on the nutrition drinks for a while. They are packed with all sorts of stuff and might help H get some high calories in to build his weight up again. It must be hard with H, I could at least offer incentives with DD1 and she would listen.....different with a grown man with a mind of his own.

Ruby, it was sitting in my watched items and I just noticed she'd nipped in. Purely by chance.

Ruby, how is your niece enjoying being a celebrity? School friends showering her with adulation? Autographs? Has she been papped?

frumpygrumpy · 17/03/2009 15:01

Momma oh Momma I know you are a bit snowed under but can you offer this lady any dietary wisdom? I hate to think of her DS in such distress and I really get the feeling diet could be responsible.

Just when I thought I'd sorted our accommodation for the foreseeable future the owners of this property have gone and sold off the plot next door. The new owners were round today with their builder. It's a shared drive and all their utilities will run through from here so will be a nightmare while they are having the work done. Also means we will have no usable garden space as our garden will become their drive. [annoyed] Owners said they probably won't start building work this year, but I'm loathed to sign a long contract when there's a chance they could start tomorrow.

We spent much of the day indoors safe from their cars coming and going and big dogs running around off lead.

And I feel dreadful and docs appt is Thurs.

FG thanks for your words about driving, I just don't find it coming naturally. I feel terrified during the whole thing which doesn't help. I really need to pass and feel confident to drive dh's van car by Sept as I can't afford to pay the extra bus fare for dd1 once she hits 5 but I just can't see me ever getting to the point where I just get in the car and know what to do without having to psyche myself up beforehand.
