happy birthday chops. WineBrewThanks

Shabs, look after yourself, or you won't get to enjoy Lew as a grandparent should.

I'll leave you all to translate this gem from Jen... "I done a big dump Daddy!" It took us quite a few minutes to figure it out.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 01/08/2015 15:55

Ooooowwwwwwww! James has had his first taste of hurting himself in the boy parts! Poor lad went to climb off a seated see-saw, by climbing over the hand bar, as a lady sat down on the other end!! Ouchies!

How is everyone else? I hope you've all got some of the lovely weather that we have at the moment. We spent a lovely afternoon in the park. £1 box of ice creams meant 6 very happy people :) and a lot cheaper than the ice cream van parked at the entrance.

Chopstheduck · 01/08/2015 18:42

thank you, girls x

was it something to do with a truck, soks?

We used to do that for icecreams - far cheaper! Grin I can remember walking half a mile to go fetch icecreams from the supermarket and bring them back for the family rather than pay extortionate van prices.

had a nice day yesterday, spent the day in Lodnon then dinner out. Went to see dh's aunt today then went out for lunch as a birthday treat from his family. Now chilling for a bit, early start tomo for Ride London, eeeek!!!

triplets · 02/08/2015 07:50

Morning girls.........not a lot going on here. At least the weather has bucked up, going to be nice today. Done nothing much, trying desperately to find James a job, any luck with Tom Shabs? Its hard, there is just nothing around, he really needs an apprenticeship, trouble is he hasnt a clue as to what he wants to do other than join the band service and that's next year if he puts some weight on! Rebecca is making no effort at all to find a summer job, she wants to be out with her friends all the time but has no money! Dk is spending all day at his allotment, my soldier is still living the dream and my foot is still the same! BUT............I rang the podiatry dept again the other day to ask where I am now on their list, was 31 in the queue 3 weeks ago, was told I am now 33! Told her I was waiting for the mri result and she said to ring again as soon as I had it, if it shows the problem then they would have to see me. She then spent 10 mins telling me all her husbands medical problems, mainly to do with bowels! I said to her I know all about bowels and bags (remember Gladys girls) and ended up telling her about dks cancer/parkinsons and having triplets. She went quiet then said "you cant afford to be ill can you, this isnt fair you need to see Wendy, can you come next Thus at 2.30pm". Marvellous isnt it, after 4 months waiting for an appt, told it would be at least another 2 months they can suddenly slot you in! But HOORAY!

triplets · 02/08/2015 17:21

Cilla Black has died.......only 72 that's sad.......so much a part of the swinging 60`s RIP :(

Minisoksmakehardwork · 03/08/2015 21:48

:( happy Saturday night memories of watching blind date. Classic TV!

Dump was of course, jump! We spent ages trying to work out who had taught her dump for poo before I realised - as she was bouncing on the sofa going 'I dumping mummy!' Very cute munchkin.

They had their eye appointments at the hospital today. Jen will have to be patched. But to do that, she has to wear her glasses 100% as opposed to the 80-90% currently. Ummm. Yeah.

Joshy is being booked in for a couple of appointments for measuring how much his eye turns, before scheduling the op. Hopefully it will be done around oct next year (I'm sure that's what she meant as she was talking about starting school). But it's a way off yet...

James is. Well, James. And Emily is camping with my parents. Last I heard, the girls were not going to sleep! Told mum to be prepared for grumpy girl in the morning.

bubby64 · 03/08/2015 23:16

Soks - just think, uou hsve survived 2 of the 7 weeks, lol
trips - about time things started going right for you
shabbs- How is it hoing with Lew, and i take it Tom has had no luck yet?
Chops - we slways buy the pcks of dupermarket icecresms wgen out too, the only trouble is they often come in 3 packs!
I started new job today, drive there was much better than expected, 40mins, and I have already been told that I will be doing 2 local manufacturers every thurs/Fri , both only 20 min away! My immediate boss and the lady who does our administration live only 5 miles up the road, and have suggested that on days where either 2 or 3 of us in the office, we car share, result! The people are really nice and friendly, helpful too, and the best thing is if in the office, nobody hangs about, everyone heads off at 4.30 and to home! Oh, and an hour for lunch if doing office work as well! Can't belive things are so good, something has got to go wrong, lolBlush

bubby64 · 03/08/2015 23:17

my spelling awful tonight, didn't proof read before posting, sorryWink

Chopstheduck · 04/08/2015 07:34

Grin at dump - would never have guessed!

Bubbs, that is fantastic, about time too!

Great news that you finally have an appointment too, Trips. Hope they can identify what is wrong and help you.

Ride London was good, but not sure I would recommend it! When it was flowing, it was great. But I saw the aftermath of so many bad crashes and then was stuck on Leith Hill for an hour only to find out later that a man had died of a heart attack - so very sad.

Have an appointment for Jack on Thursday. No idea why they want to see him again so soon and hoping that none of the bloods came back positive :(

shabbs · 05/08/2015 10:27

Morning girls.

Tom applied to our local Asda - he now just wants a job....any job....doing anything legal Grin filled in the online application form (which was very 'Americanised').....they emailed him the day after and turned him down. I thought it would knock him backwards but it has 'spurred' him on!!!

We already have three Aldi stores in our area but they are building another and are advertising for staff. He filled in their online application - it took 45 minutes to do....he has submitted that now so fingers crossed. They do apprenticeships at Aldi as well - which would be good for him.

One of the questions asked 'What has been your biggest challenge in life - physically or mentally.' He thought for a few seconds and then put....'Last year my Grandad died, it was my 'first bereavement.' I carried his coffin with other family members and I spoke at the service. I was so nervous and sad to do both of those jobs. When I stood up to speak about him I watched the congregations faces - I made them cry, smile and laugh. I think I would have made my Grandad proud of me.

He then turned to me to see what I thought....he smiled and I smiled back and he went onto the next question. Sad I am a lucky Mum....so very lucky xx

chops - what a sad end to the ride. Sad
Shabbs- What a wonderful tribute, I do hope it makes Tom stand out and he gets a job, I'm sure not many other applicants would put such a sensitive, yet elequent statement on their application. Thanks

triplets · 05/08/2015 23:10

Good luck Tom! Its tough out there. We are going through the same thing here with James. He does not want to go back to college in Sept, yet he is not 18 until end of Jan. So today he comes downstairs with a piece of paper in his hand, says its his cv and he is cycling into town to hand it in. He found on fb that the café at the end of the pier was hiring. I checked it...........9 spelling mistakes and no contact number!! Good job it wasn`t a job as a teaching assisant!

bubby64 · 05/08/2015 23:10

By the way, still loving my new job, even though I had an emergency 50 mile drive to Cambridge yesterday when the scheduled nurse was ill for an afternoon of health surveillance. My boss was confident enough in my abilities to send me, a big boost to me as it was only my 3rd day! I will get paid milage and was given back the extra time taken today. Also, I have never had a boss who comes around at 5 min past knock off time, switching off things and saying "go home, you finished work 5mins ago!Grin Grin " He's very much into work/life balance, and you don't work any time you are not paid forGrin

Chopstheduck · 06/08/2015 06:52

Good luck James and Tom.

It worries me that dd isn't really putting enough effort in, thinking she can just get an apprenticeship if she doesn't get the grades. She isn't doing great atm with balancing social life and studies. I should show her this thread!

That is brilliant bubbs, you deserve it!

Off to the paed today, fingers crossed they haven't found anything new. I hate going to this paed. I'm deaf and she speaks so quietly, with a strong accent which is really hard to lipread. No matter how many times I ask her to speak up, she drops her voice again after a few minutes. I always worry I am missing out on something important!

triplets · 06/08/2015 07:48

Sounds like a good employer Bubbs, as said you deserve it :) Well finally off to the podiatry clinic this afternoon, hoping they come up with something, almost 8 months of pain in my foot!

triplets · 06/08/2015 21:39

Finally got a diagnosis :( MRI shows severe arthritis in TMT joints....oh the joys of old bones! So annoyed as I have always looked after my feet after my poor mums history. Apart from that I am touch wood fine, no other aches and pains. Don`t know if its osteo or rheumatoid, obv hoping its not the latter. So after waiting 5 months for a podiatry appt I had my first and last today. She said I need to go to my gp and probably get referred..........here we go again! So in the meantime I have been to the health food shop and asked their advice and am going to try green lipped mussel extract! Grrrr! At least I know!

Chopstheduck · 07/08/2015 07:24

Aww trips :(

Ds1 was thankfully clear for coeliac, so they think it is probably ibs but have refered him to a gastroenterologist for a look over. One arthritis test came back negative but the other was positive for a genetic predisposition for rheumatoid arthritis. So we have to keep an eye on that one. His pain isn't too bad atm, so they are holding that referral for now. And we're back to the chiropodist on Monday!

He was chuffed anyhow - went to pick something off of Freegle after the appointment and out of the blue, the lovely lady gave him a bike her son he outgrown! It's rather a nice one and he is chuffed to bits.

Taking the boys swimming today - my last practice before attempting an open water swim at the weekend!

Minisoksmakehardwork · 10/08/2015 09:28

Open water swim Shock rather you than me.

We went to 'Fairy Freddos' the other day. I think the renaming may stick. The day was ok - brilliant weather and so on. But a very grumpy dh. He's back at work tomorrow...

Minisoksmakehardwork · 12/08/2015 11:02

Is it wrong that I'm hiding in the kitchen in fits of giggles.

Kids are in the garden. Em comes in and garbles something to dh. I then hear "nooooo! Joshy!"

He had got the pavement chalks and coloured his face. GrinGrinGrin according to Joshy, Em had told him too.

Chopstheduck · 12/08/2015 19:23

Hope you got pics, soks!

Open water swim was lovely. Took me a while to pluck up the courage to strike away from the shore, but it was heavenly once I got out there.

My parents were supposed to be arriving tonight, but they have buggered up their house alarm. So now I have to drive up to Norfolk tomo to drop the kids instead! Not looking forward to that drive, especially with the weather forecast.

shabbs · 12/08/2015 23:53

I have the following.......

a stupid bloody dog who was going to have her bits sorted to prevent pups - who had the audacity to come home from a two hour walk and start her second season a whole bloody month early....will be re-arranging the 'cutting of the bits' first thing in the morning!!!

and...................a itchy, puss oozing, painful 36 (yes I am so sad I have counted them) 36 mozzy bites. They are driving me round the bend and making me feel ill. I have tried garlic tablets every day, mozzy spray, mozzy repellent, after bite, no perfume, etc etc etc. GP says I am allergic to mozzy bites............No shit Sherlock........

OP posts:
bubby64 · 13/08/2015 22:31

Shabbs- Avon SkinSoSoft moisturiser is said tobe a good mossie repellent, as is lavender oil. may be worth a try.
chops -well done on the swim thunderstorms here in East Anglia atm
Trips- at least you have a diagnosis I just hope something can be done
Soks-seems like you are having fun there, lol.
Busy week this week, but im getting the hang of things, but have a week off next week, having days out early in the week, then going down to Bovington Tank museum (yawn) Thursday . Going to stay with my cousin for a couole of nights in Swanage.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 14/08/2015 14:57

I'm hot, bothered and more than slightly annoyed. Despite telling the dc that i do not want to shout at them I seem to have done a lot of that today. So I've tipped the toy boxes out and we are sorting those out now. They might actually find something they want to play with!

triplets · 15/08/2015 08:02

Morning girls.........sorry I have not been around lately. Life has been just a bit stressful. Mega problems with my dd, which are still not sorted, boyfriend of 6 months we knew nothing about, hanging about in the wrong places with the wrong people etc. Its all been a bit of a shock and me and dk have been very upset. So there have been many talks and tears, the tears have mainly been mine. She has spent days in her room, looking dreadful. Her best friend Alice phoned me and spoke for over 2 hours telling me how things have been. On top of all this a mutual friend of hers and the boys has complicated things by taking her out last night and then declaring his undying love for her, this lad I have always called my 4th son. She told me after he left that she told him she really likes him but that's it, he will always be just a friend. So then I get several heart broken messages from him on fb! Young love!! I m feeling much too old for all this and am desperately being patient and kind! Went to the gp y/day to talk about the mri result and basically have been told I could have surgery, take extra strong pain killers or do nothing and put up with the pain in my foot. It is osteo not rheumatoid arthritis. So have taken a prescription for co drymol and will take them only when necessary. My good news is my lovely soldier came home last night for 3 weeks :) He looks amazing each time I see him, such a change. Also only 4 days until we go away, much needed but worried more than ever leaving dd. Her best friend is staying here and I have plenty of people keeping an eye!! And a seagull has just shite all over my bedroom window............grrr! xx

triplets · 17/08/2015 07:25

was it something I said...........where are you all?
Quick update, she hasn`t been out except with the friend who declared his love for her, they went to Margate for the day y/day. She is telling me she is not in touch with the one she has been seeing, but I don't believe her. She was on her phone at 3.30am y/day morning, she forgets she is right next door to me! Also she has taken the battery and sd card out of her phone. She has also charged up an old phone and that is in her bag! I am more than worried now leaving her, its spoiling things for me and dh, he is getting really worked up about her. I know as soon as we go she will go over to see him, guess there is not a lot I can do about it.
