Morning Sok, you were up late and I am up early! Oh just the usual, he gets tired, then drinks too much then gets stroppy! His family own mobile homes 5 mins from our house. They come down from the "norf" about three times a year. They are very loud, but have hearts of gold and just come to have a good time. So last Sat I bump into them in the town, they immediately ask after dk, are always concerned about him. They are here for two weeks and said they would have to come round, we could do a bbq and they will bring stuff which they always do. Nothing was set in stone. Of course I told dk when I got home and he just said " I suppose we had better get it over with". Then last night he just accused me of always wanting them here, they get on his nerves, they are too loud etc, then he suggests doing a bbq on Frid night when Thomas is home for the w/end. I said def not, Thomas only has 2 nights and he is coming home because he misses us and wont want to sit with a bunch of almost to him strangers! So he got really horrible and I cleared off to bed at 8pm! He came upstairs at 9pm and asked why I was in bed and I just told him as he couldnt be nice to me I didn't want his company. I had had a stressful day with James, wants to leave school, doesnt want to go back for yr 13, wants to stop his music lessons etc. Sat him down and tried to talk and the flood gates opened. We then both of us gutted his bedroom which was hard sweaty work. Dk comes home at 6pm after spending a pleasant day (7 hours) in his allotment. I am tired, still in the kitchen at 7.30pm and he says he is tired too, well who had the nicest day!!! Bloody men!

shabbs · 21/07/2015 09:40

Thank you for remembering Gareth - I love typing his name out.

Tom is 18 on Friday!!! still not managed to get a job/apprenticeship. He is actively seeking a job but there is not very much about xx

Minisoksmakehardwork · 22/07/2015 06:32

A certain munchkin had woken me up. And another one then carried I hence early post.

Today. First day of the holidays. J1 wakes me at 5 - had got into bed with us at some point in the night. Then when dh's alarm goes off, decides it's morning time so he can wake the others! Had a fair time explaining to him that he couldn't. By which time they were all awake anyway. Grr.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 22/07/2015 08:39

Hope dk is in a better mood this morning trips. Dh is at work until 7pm today. Then has nearly 3 weeks off. I fully expect I'll want to kill him by the beginning of next week...

Started a bun fight on our local fb discussion page last night. Asked where locally does ear piercing as E has asked if she can have hers done. She's asked on and off over the last year or so. We've always told her if she wants them done she has to have them done at the beginning of the summer holiday.

Anyway, one person weighed in with 'why would you do that to your little girl and cause her pain?' I'd forgotten my profile pic had J2. Lots of people jumping in with 'she's the parent, her choice' etc. but at least I know where does them so we now have a plan for Friday

So where is everyone? Really horrible weather here, poor Thomas came home hoping for some nice weather and its the worst we have had for weeks. Did you all get the rain last night, absolutely torrential. Forecast now is cloudy/windy and light rain until Tues!! We have the Wiganites coming for a bbq tomorrow, just trying to think how I can get out of it! Not the same if you have to sit indoors, but it aint gonna be nice! How was Toms big day Shabs...............saw the pics on FB!!!

bubby64 · 25/07/2015 15:27

Hi trips, sorry, been getting my last few shifts done at current workplace, did last nightshift now finished this morning. Also been organising the boys for their DofE volunteer places.
Been very difficult week, as we have paid out for the boys Berlin trip (£100 each) and their books for the new English baccalaureate GCSEs (£21 each) so we're absolutely skint. I had £10 in my purse on Monday to last until DHL got paid yesterday, he had a fiver! been eating out of freezer and cupboards for past fortnight, never seen them so empty, and we have had a few peculiar food combinations, lol. First thing I did after R got paid was do a massive shop at Lidls.
Now we are all on a "holiday at home" this week coming, hopefully weather will improve from these gale force winds and rainstorms so we can do a few days out doing things like fishing or going to Pleasurewood Hills ( I have vouchers)
Hope To mas has a good weekGrinSmile

Hiya girls.

Was a lovely party Trips - Tom got 'somewhat tiddly!!' Chellesters sister and brother in law just got back from Kos and brought raki and ouzo . All the kids sat outside next to the BBQ and loads of laughter and singing.

Message came from Seva -Takis' daughter (aged about 16) Read it out to everybody and it just 'finished me off.' She said Happy Birthday to Tom and that the family sent all their love and they missed us. Very heartfelt, soppy message.....it ended with 'please hurry up and come back to Venezia.'

No card or message from my bloody brother - no card on my mums behalf for Tom etc etc. Im not sure how he sleeps at night. My Dad had promised Tom driving lessons for his 18th...now I don't expect my brother to fund that - not at all. Luckily I got Tom a card from his Gran. Its a weird life isin't it? xxx

I think home parties are the best, people really let their hair down! Glad Tom had a smashing time, but very peed off with your brother! Bubbs sounds as though things have been tough, I know the feeling, had £17 left in my account today until Tues.........went to Sainsburys this morning and spent £19!! We are trying to pull our horns in as we are going back to Pollensa on Aug 19th for 9 days. Really shouldn't be doing it but dks mobility is really not good and I think this time next year we may be going no where. Could only afford it as Rebecca refuses to come, Thomas now he is earning is paying a share inc his own flight. It will be so nice to be back, just hope dk isnt ill like he was last time.........such a worry for me. Also worried about my foot, its quite swollen with fluid and is still painful. Wont get the mri result until just before we go so prob wont get anything done. 7 months now of foot pain! I take it you didnt win the lottery Shabs?

Own up, who mislaid summer? :(

I've been pretty busy. Work has finished now for the summer, and so I'm enjoying spending some time with the kids and having a bit more time to train. Plus no so much fun catching up on various chores that I didn't have time to do with work. 6 hours in the garden and a trailer full of trimmings and it now looks twice the size! Have also had a couple of triathlons in the past few weeks, and Ride London coming up this Sunday.

I think this summer is going to fly by. This is my only quiet week!

Hope you all have lovely summers xx

Minisoksmakehardwork · 28/07/2015 04:25

The rain has helped my runner beans! Took the first crop off yesterday - carrier bag full. Yum! Dh is home at the moment, on annual leave, so we've been trying to get out and about a bit. Been to the cinema, to my sister's for a bbq (in the pouring rain), geocaching and bbq with friends and so on. E has had her ears pierced. She's already howled she's never doing it again when I have to clean and turn them. I think if I gave her the option, she'd take the out already! But she loves them the rest of the time. J1 is being a handful. Nothing much else to report.

triplets · 28/07/2015 22:21

Hi Soks, dk came back from the allotment today with another load of runners, we have started putting them outside for people to help themselves. I have frozen a lot already! Today he came home with a bucket full of beetroot, carrots, red cabbage, courgettes, runner beans, red cabbage and dahlias!! Any ideas what to do with the red cabbage other than pickle or braise it? Feeling tired tonight, not sleeping at all well don't know why! Shabs where is thou? xx

Minisoksmakehardwork · 29/07/2015 11:59

Knock! knock! Shabs GrinGrinGrin

Roast cabbage? Stir fried. No idea really. Sounds a great allotment though. I'd love a garden big enough to grow more. But beans and Romanesque it is this year.

Chopstheduck · 29/07/2015 18:06

I gave up growing stuff as it always dies when we go away over summer :(

I love homegrown veg, hopefully I can get some from my dad later this month. I'd prob use the red cabbage in salads. Coleslaw type things with lots of veg, herbs and a yoghurt based dressing.

I am knackered! I swam a whole mile today. Never swam that far before, I'm not really a swimmer.

Busy weekend coming up too. Off to see dh aunt on Sat. She isn't doing well. She has a very rare form of the cancer and they think it might have spread further than they originally thought. She just isn't recovering from the initial surgery.

shabbs · 29/07/2015 22:28

Hiya girls.

Pickled red cabbage wins it every time for me - put it with corned beef hash proper Northern bird me!!!

Nothing going on here - except Tom not able to find work, apart from the next 2 weeks (when Dan and his family go on holiday) I have Lew every day from about 7.30 till 1.30. I love him dearly but he is wearing me out.

triplets · 29/07/2015 22:31

Hi girls.........your poor aunt :(
Awful weather here, been unsettled for a week. Dd went off this morning saying she was staying with a friend tonight as its Carnival week and something was on late tonight. Fireworks are just going off, its wet, windy and freezing and she has no coat and wont answer her phone!

triplets · 29/07/2015 22:33

Good God........I was just going to post a missing poster of you! Survived your day with Lew then?

bubby64 · 30/07/2015 01:51

Hi girls, we are on a week off too, Car show Sunday cancelled, too much rain, cinema Monday, boys went to their mates yesterday, so DH and I went into Colchester, quiet day today, then swimming tomorrow. We are meeting some friends at Southwold over the weekend, so hope the weather gets better.Confused
I have had one bit of great news, i had a letter today saying my application for PIP that I put in in January was finally granted and the back payments went into my account today! I rekon my bank account had to be resuscitated due to shock! its the first time I've been in the black since last OctoberWink
I start my new job Monday, and now I can afford a couple of work outfits. We are also planning a couple of days away in August to take the boys to the Tank Museum at Bovington. My cousin lives in Swanage, and is going to put us up, but we can relax a little more money wise and enjoy the time more.

Chopstheduck · 30/07/2015 09:24

oh wow, fab news bubby! Best of luck for your new job xx

Shabs, that sounds a awful lot to take on :( Your kids are very lucky to have you doing that for them! x

bubby64 · 31/07/2015 00:34

Shabbs- you are being a wonderful nan, but please don't wear yourself out, Dan and Emma may have to find someone else to look after Lew for at least 2 days a week unless they want you to collapse with exhaustion and not be able to do any childcare.
Trips - I hope you get good news about your foot scan and they can do something about it, and I hope you have a great holiday, you deserve it
Chops- I am in awe! All these triathlons and exercise- go girl!
Sox - I hope you are surviving the holidays so far, lol

shabbs · 31/07/2015 11:15
