Squeeeee! My friend in NZ has had her baby today/yesterday/tomorrow (can never remember if they're ahead or behind us). A very cute and good weight (7lb) term baby considering they've been talking of delivery since about 30 odd weeks. Her first was a very early baby. Anyway, now I've got baby news out of the way...

Huge congratulations to my little Joshua on his first night without a pull-up. A very dry night I might add. So we're going to no pull ups at night now. Joshy has been desperate to go without for a while now but I told him he had to have 2 dry nights in a row. Well he managed it this weekend so as promised, he went to bed pant-less. I popped him on the potty around 9pm when I went to bed and he did a wee then, but slept the rest of the night through.

Needless to say he is quite rightly very proud of himself.

Thank you Soks, sat up in bed with the sun shining on me! No plans for the day as we were away for the w/end with my sil whose birthday it was y/day! Well done to Joshua, it makes such a difference when you don't have to bother with nappies and such, and the cost of them! x

Still doing well on the dry nights front. Only one accident and that was possibly my fault as i didn't take him when we went to bed on his 2nd night. Even though he drank loads before bed last night and I didn't wake him to go, he was still dry. So, so proud of him.

20 mostly preschoolers at the twins' birthday party. Utterly crazy and wonderful at the same time.

Oh there's no special trick to it! We share the same anniversary and have commented on it before :)

We're all muddling through here. Bribing James with football cards and throwing him outside at every opportunity. Jen and Josh are coming on beautifully. They're such different little characters.

shabbs · 09/04/2016 09:48

Morning girls - not been on here for ages. Everybody OK? xx

Afternoon! We're all muddling through nicely. Behaviours are... challenging but we will see what the new term brings.

We are hopefully getting a kitten. A gorgeous Russian blue/rag doll/moggy cross. Enough blue for dh to be happy and enough fluff for me to be Grin. We told the children about him this morning, just to gauge reactions. Luckily all positive and we've had a chat about looking after things and being gentle. Having read up on the breeds, they are supposed to be quite easy going cats, just what the mog adds. But as I've only ever had proper moggies we've impressed upon the children that the kitten will be nice to them if they are nice to it. So no being mean! Emily has come up with a list of names as long as her arm and James came out with a beautifully ironic one. So now it's just hoping all continues to go well and we get to bring him home in 4 weeks.

I've had an enforced break from pets (if you don't count the fish). It's just something to look forward to right now as not much else seems to be going our way.

I grew up with cats and around 2 years ago, my mum's last cat had to be pts. It's been strange going round and not having a stroke and a cuddle. Dh has been hankering after one for quite some time and this one seems to tick all the boxes so we would be foolish to walk away.

The children are all very excited and we've named him (Merlin). Just need to get everything sorted at home!!!

Minisoksmakehardwork · 18/04/2016 06:35

So the disturbed sleep of the night resulted in me checking the twins school places. As expected they've got into the village school so pleased with that.

Then woken at ten to 6 by emily telling me the tap wasn't working. Turns out another village has a burst main so we've no water until (hopefully) 11am. Don't know what this means for the kids and school but fully expect it means no school (no hand washing facilities rather than no water). Joy when dh is on nights this week so will be home around 10 to sleep! It does however mean I've text him and told him to bring bottled water home just in case. I knew stopping my emergency supply of water was a bad mistake.

Interesting weekend down our road apparently. I slept right through the hoo haa of noisy/rowing neighbours between 1-4am Saturday night!

Joshua is doing fine after his little overnight in hospital. Hates having his drops and ointment put in, and when he actually opens his eye enough to look at it, it looks hideous. He's off preschool the next 2 weeks because of it. Although the way James goes, there's probably more risk to him at home! Barring sand being thrown! Still no further forward with help for him and I literally had to drag and carry him to school this morning. Still, seeing the positive, that's my exercise for the morning. We'll see if we get the same on the way home.

We're all good. Counting down the days until Merlin arrives. It would seem as in here, I'm talking to myself with the kids, the amount they ignore me Grin

triplets · 10/05/2016 08:20

Dearest Shabs........thinking and thinking of you and sweet Mattie today. So many lost years, never right, never will be. Hope you are ok my friend. xx

How is everyone else? We seem to be drifting apart on here, think for me its because my trio are getting grown up! So latest on us is, Thomas on his last training exercise, passes out of Catterick on May 27th then its out into the real world which will scare me sick. Yesterday he threw his first live grenade Shock. James failed his Navy medical (did I say) two weeks ago, because of what happened to Matthew :(. he is taking his driving test for the 3rd time next Monday and he needs to pass as we cannot afford to keep doing it. He needs a job! Rebecca is happy with Dylan, still as untidy as hell but she is happy! Dh is ok, no change and I am soldiering on! Lets all catch up, where is Rubester these days? x

D'ya ever wonder if you could still do the twist and not actually wet yourself in the process?
shabbs · 10/05/2016 09:11

Thank you Trips....Im OK (whatever the hell that is) - would just like a peep at the man that Matt would now be - but then, a peep wouldn't be enough would it? xxx
