I think they should try a weekend soks, rather than 1/2 and 1/2, but you know your kids better than anyone, both plans have their good and bad points
Still trying to rest, but getting frustrated by the state of the house. I did run the vacuum over the living room and hallway floors today, which wasn't too difficult but has improved things enough to let me relax a bit.
Also had the regular battle to worm the animals and DH got them all pills. Dogs are easy, stick it in some cheese and it's gone. The cats I usually get the spot on for, and after 2 failed attempts I remembered a tip from a friend. Crush up pills, mix with small amount of butter and smear down their front legs- hey presto, cats hate the taste, but hate being sticky more, so they licker it all off! job done!!SmileGrin

trips- did you get to meet with HM yesterday?

triplets · 17/01/2015 23:38

Hi girls..........back home from Harrogate and exhausted! Long way to go there and back in 24 hours! Sadly did not meet up with HM, hoping we can next time! Thought Harrogate was lovely, stayed in a really lovely place, and had a nice evening there last night with live jazz! The army college today was amazing, all I can say is he is a very lucky boy to be going there. All the young junior soldiers we talked too said they had no regrets, the all looked so smart and oozed with confidence. I have never ever seen such tidy lockers, beautifully ironed clothes...........if only they had been like it at home! It costs the Army £80,000 for each junior soldier they put through, that's a years course. On top of all that they get very well paid for it! Lucky lad! x

Sounds exciting stuff Trips. So pleased for him. xxx

We once went to a friends funeral in South Wales. 4 hours on the train down there........about 5 hours there....and then the 4 hours home on the train. Can remember my legs just twitching and jumping because I was so tired. xxx

triplets · 19/01/2015 07:39

Morning Shabs........must say its so lovely to come on here and see it all as it used to be :) Just been having a chat on fb to some mums whose lads are already at the college, getting useful tips!

triplets · 19/01/2015 07:41

you`ve still got your Christmas name, can you believe it was less than 4 weeks ago?

Chopstheduck · 19/01/2015 07:50

I had a very busy weekend. Took Dt1 to the ballet on Saturday, which he loved. Then yesterday, had an 8 mile race. In between those, more packing and cleaning!

And this morning, the kids have done nothing but fight and I want to throttle them!

Chopstheduck · 19/01/2015 07:50

Trips, sounds like you had a lovely weekend!

shabbs · 19/01/2015 08:09

Afternoon! Attempting to tidy the bombsite that is our house. Dh was working this weekend and I also up having my niece for several hours longer than expected Saturday! Recipe for disaster.

Puddles and Arthur, the class cats, enjoyed their stay at ours. Particularly helping James with his birdwatching homework :) they are soooooo much cleaner now I've washed and dried them too. All nice and fluffy from the tumble dryer.

Shabs. What's up duck?

nooooooooo the sky has turned a strange yellow and its snowing..........nooooooo, got full load of logs being delivered at 9am, takes forever to stack them............noooooooooo

Minisoksmakehardwork · 20/01/2015 19:18

How's the snow trips? We had a brief smattering overnight for yesterday morning. Wasn't even enough for the dc to leave a footprint in.

Currently mn-Ing and encouraging Josh to go to sleep. He's ignoring me. Did the same last night. I have a feeling the lack of favourite cuddly (boot of daddy's car) is the cause of the lack of sleep. Hoping he settles soon. James and Jen are fast off.

bubby64 · 20/01/2015 21:49

Evening girlie's , brrrrh ! minus 4 here this morning, glad I didn't have to go out in it, but couldn't believe M still decided to go off to school in just his uniform and a hoodie, at least J had the sense to wear his coat.
Getting bored being off work for such a long time again. and continue to worry about money. Only bright spot on the horizon is that Thomson have admitted full liability my burns, so there is some compensation far off on the horizon.

triplets · 20/01/2015 22:02

About time you had some good news Bubbs, how is your back? I think I have got an expensive time looming, one of my teeth nr the front tooth is hyper sensitive, my fault, brushed the gum away over the years, is a horrible toot as it was filled so heavily years go that it looks slightly grey. It needs crowing, but I dont want a lump of gold or silver right in the front of my mouth and I am sure its more than double the price for a white one..............cant afford it.........bloody teeth! :o

triplets · 20/01/2015 22:04

:o @ toots :o
Shabs forgot to say it Tina`s dh funeral in the morning :(

bubby64 · 21/01/2015 21:40

so sorry about the tina dh's funeral trips and trips, I know you had got close to her

triplets · 21/01/2015 22:56

Thanks Bubbs, I have just spoken to her on FB, she said her two sons did her proud and there were a lot of people there, that somehow helps I think. She is just dreading tomorrow when the family all leave :( Seems so sad after 7 years of sharing our hopes and fears against this awful illness. My lovely lovely next door neighbour is at home dying, the hospice nurse is coming in tomorrow for the first time as Pam has been trying to cope. He has been unwell for about 6 months and only just diagnosed, such a lovely man. Oh dear, life can be awfully sad.

triplets · 22/01/2015 00:13

The ambulance has just taken my lovely neighbour away :(

shabbs · 22/01/2015 08:54

Morning girls xx

Oh Trips sorry to hear about your neighbour. I remember the day they took Dad to hospital.....I was on the bus going down to look after Mum and the bus passed the ambulance going in the other direction.....it was going slowly and right behind was my brother in his car - his face was serious and sad and I knew Dad would not be making the return journey. Makes me shudder just thinking about it xxx

I couldn't sleep, the family came home at 6am and said they had transferred him to another hospital. They then got a call at 7.30am to say go back the consultant wanted to talk to them. They got home at 2pm and poor Pam said they couldn`t do anything for him and had given him just days :( Feel so sad, he is just one of those lovely men, always polite, bit of a twinkle in his eye, very kind.............will miss him. Night everyone xx
