Chops - what a shame, never mind, at least you can paint it in your choice of colours and hopefully before all the furniture is in place, which should make it easier.
Soks- I have limpets on me at the moment, but they are the dogs, lol.
I heard from the spinal unit yesterday afternoon, and they want to take over my case and see me next Monday.

Morning girls - blowing a gale and chucking it down here in the Norff x

Chopstheduck · 10/01/2015 08:09

morning girls

9 hours thurs, 12 hours yesterday, and hoping to finish painting today!

we are just doing it magnolia too, as otherwise we will be face with painting it all again back to neutral before we move out if we don't stay too long. Thinking 2 years, but then maybe we can move and get more house for our money - since we won't then need to be in the secondary school catchment any longer.

Feeling sad........a friends husband died today from cancer, we met on the Macmillan site and Bob and Harry started their journey together, 7 years ago this month. There were 12 in our little group, Harry is now the only one left. They were all so brave, their ages were from 22-70, feel very sad :(

shabbadabbadingdong · 11/01/2015 08:41

Morning girls xx

Oh Trips so very sad. Cancer is a bastard. Have FB messaged your friend - a few months ago we made friends on FB. She is so supportive and kind. Cant stop thinking about her and her family xxxx

Minisoksmakehardwork · 11/01/2015 11:06

Oh trips Sad. Gentle hugs for you and your friend.

Will be back later. Can hear dh struggling with the hordes (I had a very late lie-in).

Minisoksmakehardwork · 11/01/2015 22:59

[sweeps the old cobwebs out, trundles in trolley laid out with tempting cream cakes, selection of fondant fancies, huuuuuge slab of chocolate cake, and the last of the minced spies and Christmas cake]

Cushions are plumped, spring clean complete. Settling in to a new year with hope.

Bubs, how is your back holding up? Hope your appointment goes well tomorrow.

shabs, is that cheeky puppy keeping you on your toes still?

Chops, hope you've finished painting. Our house could do with a complete overhaul lick of paint, fancy another go? Grin

Rubes? RUBES? [checks to make sure rubes didn't get put away with the xmas decs]

ooh minced spies! So what spies did you mince? I have a feeling we probably do have eyes on us atm in any case! WinkGrin

Hey rubes, how are you?

I never, ever, want to see a paintbrush again! TBH I knew my friend was a little untidy, but it wasn't til the house was cleared out that I realised exactly how bad it all was! It is all looking lovely now. Pretty much painted the entire house over three days. Just the top of the hallway to do, need to borrow a ladder off a neighbour once we move in. Have already met a couple of the neighbours and they seem lovely.

Also have to sort the bathroom, as the windows were never ever opened due to house cats, so it got seriously damp. A team of three cleaners did pretty much a whole day too, so it should be sparkling and less than two weeks to go now too!

Sorry to hear about your DM Rubes. Such a worry xxxx

Yep we have a 6 month old staff/lab cross. She is called Mitzy...Hmm soppy girly name. I wanted to change it to Aguero (Man City player) then I could shout her like the commentators shout his name when he scores LOL....AAAAAAAggggguuuuerrrrroooo!!

Was a friends daughters dog. She lost interest in dog when she got a full time job so asked did we want her and she wouldnt charge us the full price she paid!!!!!! Told her that I wasn't paying for a cross breed dog that wasnt even house trained and didnt even know how to walk on a lead. That went down like a lead balloon but the dog still came to live with us!!

My Dad had promised Tom a dog for Christmas and also told me that he was getting him one - thanks Dad!!! Hmm

Chopstheduck · 12/01/2015 13:01

sorry to hear about your mum, rubes xx

Yeah, only moving a couple of roads away - bigger house.

I'm still waiting to start work, even though they are inundated. They are having problems getting everyone together for the training course!

Minisoksmakehardwork · 12/01/2015 21:10

Oh Rubes Hmm BrewWine

Shabs, that comment is fab. Clearly you were meant to have her...

Ratty may have bitten the dust properly. Went to fill bird feeders up today (food kept in under sink cupboard). Peanuts were chewed to teeny bits. Also the box and plastic wrapping from rodent poison was throughly chewed, and very little poison left. That'll teach the cheeky sod.

Have had lovely snuggles with Joshy today. The twins are being big toddlers and we've started potty training. Jen did very well at nana and grandad's apparently. Several wees in the potty. Joshua has a serious awareness of poo. But alas it's was too quick today for him to get to the potty. Although I am also not sure whether it's due to him having a lot more dairy in his diet at the moment. We've often wondered if milk gives him a runny bum. And lately he's been drinking just milk, eating a lot of cheese and has also had yoghurt for pudding. And all of a sudden he has urgent and loose bowel motions again. Something to monitor but not to worry about I think as it doesn't otherwise bother him. He just got a bit panicked because he knew he was pooing in his pull-ups and wanted to do it on the potty.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 12/01/2015 21:10

Bubs. How's your back?

shabbadabbadingdong · 12/01/2015 21:18

Soks if you get a weird smell in the house - kind of like a rotting onion mixed with the smell of gas it will be 'the rat.' The one we had was sharing the cavity wall between the terraced houses and it had died low down near the floorboard in the cavity wall. My next door neighbour asked me to go in her house. The smell was horrible BUT it went within a couple of days.

bubby64 · 12/01/2015 22:20

Soks - I hope your little uninvited guest had literally bitten off more than he can chew, and good luck with the dreaded potty training Grin
Ruby - lovely to "see" you, I am sorry about your dmThanks
Trips- hope you are feeling better and glad dh is so much more positive, sorry to hear about your friends' dhThanks Thanks
Chops- hope the painting is complete and the move prep going well
Shabs - hope everything is ok with you, I see you are having some awful weather up there
Now, fair warning, i am going for the long rant - if you wish, just skip it nowConfused

I saw the spinal specialist today. my vertebrae is still crumpling, but he still wants conservative treatment for another month, and if it has collapsed more on next appointment he will then operate to inject the bone cement in to stabilise it. Sad He did see the problems I was having with the brace, and he and the physio's got together and they have found an alternative one which is still supportive but more comfortable. He also reluctantly signed a fit note to say I could go back to work on amended hours and duties, which I thought work would be pleased over, as we have so many audits etc to catch up on, but they said that I either come back to work in my appointed role or not at allAngry , so now I am going to have to cope on SSP. My friend took me to the appointment and then we went to a mutual friend who invited us to lunch at hers, but when i got home dk is being an arse over the whole thing and saying we won't manage financially on that and his wage, blaming me for our situation, saying I am swanning around doing "ladies who luncheon" and has generally been quite nasty, which has left me very tearful, yes, I'm to blame for this situation, but it was an accident, it's not like I put in my diary "1st January - fall down the stairs!!" I have contacted the mortgage people, I have tried to go back to work, I have been in touch with CAB and applied for all the help they think I should go for, I have spoken to my credit card people and others to try and reduce our outgoings, and done everything I can think of to put things right, he hasn't done anything himself with regards to trying to reduce outgoingd or bring extra money in. My friends have all rallied around, cooking batch meals for our freezer, offering to help with housework, dog walking and shopping, which is more than any of his friends have done, and dk is having a go at me for being with them for a couple of hours.Angry Angry Angry Angry

Sorry, rant over, but I had to tell someone, and you lovely ladies happen to be available.

triplets · 12/01/2015 22:56

Rubester, you are here at last........we hoovered, baked, let the wine breathe.....and have been waiting! Belated Happy New Year! I am very sorry to read about your dm.........please don`t forget the Macmillan site/forums.....it was invaluable to me, so much solid good advice and through that I found out about the trial chemo which I am certain saved his life. I believe you know our BIG news on here.......no shock to you I think? Bubbs, how could he be so cross you enjoyed yourself for a couple of hours..........I feel very sorry for you, it must be miserable and worrying. If I was nearer I would be round.........if only to take you out to lunch :o

Chopstheduck · 13/01/2015 12:16

aww bubby :(

I'm guessing he is just stressed and worrying too and taking it out on you. Which isn't fair, but I'm sure he really doesn't mean to be so harsh and of course it isn't your fault. x

I am sooo tired. Tried to run today, and it was fecking impossible - just so tired from the constant jobs and running around. Can't wait to move and get settled now.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 14/01/2015 21:24

Oh bubs! I'm sure dk was (hopefully) just taking everything on board and dealing with it badly through worry and fear.

Is he in a better mood now? Dh doesn't always understand why I go and have lunch with my mum regularly if I can. But I need that time away from my home stuff just to get some breathing space. And Obvs to see my lovely mummy. We had lunch today after I'd been to rejoin WW. I am officially the heftiest I have known myself ever to be. By just under a stone. Eek! I also had new trainers arrive today. Dh ordered them for me as he thought I might appreciate them. He's right! I now have 2 pairs so just need another pair of joggers and I can pootle around the village. Thought I'd go straight from the school run and either jog around the playing field or there's a lane which runs towards another village (although is often used by dog walkers and can apparently get messy) So I can puff and pant away without worrying about being spotted!

I did download the c25k app so will be doing my exercise in conjunction with that. Thanks For recommending that Chops. I do need to do my ww at the same time though. I need the motivation of group weightloss as dh is lovely (and once jokingly said he'd divorce me if I ever reached a size 16, which I've surpassed recently) and supportive but is also my biggest saboteur too. Keeps bringing nice things home which he knows I like specifically rather than anyone else eating them.

So tonight I made carbonara using cheese sauce and leftover gammon. So not carbonara at all. And it was yummy and filling. We've got profiteroles in the fridge which need eating tonight. And then it's all sensible eating from herein out.

Chopstheduck · 15/01/2015 09:12

shame you aren't a bit closer, soks, would have joined you for a run!

I have a race sunday, so I'm dropping the car to the garage to get a tyre replaced then off on a run. I really haven't put in enough runs lately, everything else has been taking over, so I have to start making a bit more time for it.

triplets · 16/01/2015 06:44

Morning girls..........off to Harrogate today with Thomas, wonder who I might meet? :)

Minisoksmakehardwork · 17/01/2015 08:48

Hope you had a lovely day Trips.

James came home yesterday with the class stuffed pets (2 cats). Last night they came to footie training with us. Today they are having a spa day. This is actually essential as Joshua complained yesterday of 'hurty boom boom' and when I looked he had the delights of some of those childhood friends. Picked up medicine, checked others and James also has them! Was a palaver getting enough for all of us though.

Anyway, today we are in a more relaxed mood here. Emily stayed at nanny and grandad's last night. Youngest niece was also there so I imagine my dad will have a headache by lunch time when I pick her up.

In other news, ils - who are reluctant to have more than one child overnight and certainly not for more than one night - have asked if they can take the big two away for a week. Now I was ready to leap at the chance. But we do feel James on his own can be hard work for them. So I've suggested to dh that they perhaps have both of them for a weekend to see how they feel. Alternatively, they take one child for half the week and mid week we'll come and stay for a night, swapping the kids and then they both get a few days on their own with nana and grandad without overwhelming ils too much. We generally take them and either us or bil fetches them so it's not a hardship there really. Suggestions?
