Yes I went up just before Xmas - a 1hr 15min journey from my front door to the care home front door......bus and then train!!

She seems settled but her Alzheimers is marching on rapidly. Dan, Tom, Em and Lew went to see her on Xmas Eve. Tom hadn't seen her since Dads funeral and he was petrified she wouldnt know him. Her Alzheimers terrifies him. BUT she did...instantly except she was confused as to where all his long hair had gone Grin

Brother is now 8 miles from her so he goes often - he spent Xmas day morning with her....but said he didnt think I would want to go because I still have Tom at home?????????

I swear I will kill him....soon!!

Evening girlie's
yes, it's nice to be back with no worries.
I have really messed up my back, as you can see from the x-ray (the vertebrae in the middle) they are referring me to a spinal unit to see if they want to operate, in the meantime I am wearing a back brace.
I am going to have to speak to the mortgage company about having a break from payments for a couple of months, as I have been told I will be off work for several weeks.

D'ya ever wonder if you could still do the twist and not actually wet yourself in the process?
shabbadabbadingdong · 05/01/2015 20:39

Ouch Bubbs......my hubby fell down external stairs at work at the end of 2001 and is now on disability benefits. He broke his coxyx (wrong spelling) and slipped two discs - which have never improved. They give him cortisone injections into his spine which do nothing at all to relieve the pain and they give him dreadful migraines - but the hospital say there is nothing else that will improve it. He has been to pain management clinics, physio etc etc.

They are now talking about hip replacement because they reckon he will soon need it. Since the accident he walks totally differently and has got arthritus in his hip.

I can appreciate how much that must hurt - have seen my hubby cry with back pain.

bubby64 · 05/01/2015 20:44

It's more comfortable with the back brace on, but I look like a soldier in full body armour

bubby64 · 05/01/2015 20:46

All I wanted was a normal few months, I'm too accident prone to even have thatSad Sad

bubby64 · 05/01/2015 21:09

This is what I am wearing

D'ya ever wonder if you could still do the twist and not actually wet yourself in the process?

Oh Bubbs hope it is more comfortable than it looks, what a pain, on the other hand it could have been so much worse. Dk had his first apt with the Parkinson nurse today, she was so lovely, bright, bubbly and very reassuring. She told him though he was taking the wrong dosage, he has been building up the tablets as directed by the neurologist, a max of 6 a day over a period of time.......anything from 3-6 months depending on how he was coping with them. She says it was typed up wrongly, far too high a dose and he has dropped it by half and he has to stay on that dosage for 6 months!! Good isn`t it? Anyway importantly I think he came out feeling more confident about the future. So all three will be back to college tomorrow, decs are down, sorted and up in the loft, so here we go again, lets hope for a kinder year! And a win on the lottery so me and Shabs can do a Thelma and Louise!! Could do a Shirley Valentine but don't want to fight over Tom Conte!! x

shabbadabbadingdong · 06/01/2015 06:17

Morning girls xx

Trips so glad the appointment went well. It really helps to speak to someone who is upbeat and reassuring. Toms back at college today as well. It has been a loooong holiday!!

triplets · 06/01/2015 06:30

Morning Shabs early birds aren`t we? Woke up at 5.50am which was annoying, James alarm has just gone off for the second time, Thomas slept at his mates last night so hope he has go up! My eyes are sore with tiredness!! Right here we go..........up!

Minisoksmakehardwork · 06/01/2015 07:05

Oh Bubs! Hmm

Back to school here this morning. Suppose I really should get up!!

Chopstheduck · 06/01/2015 07:45

Morning girls xx

Bubbs that all sounds horrendous. I thought since they let you stay at home, it hopefully wasn't too serious! Good luck getting the mortgage sorted.

It's strange how much alzheimers varies. The woman next door used to be nice enough, then developed alzheimers. It's taken a good few years, but she now a really nasty cow. I've tried to be sympathetic because she can't really help all of it, but she is very difficult to live next door to now. I can't wait to move.

Glad it all went well with the Parkinsons nurse, trips. That must have helped your dh a bit. Isn't Tom Cruise a bit short? Grin

I've had some rubbish news - the holiday that I won - they want me to pay over £1000 in taxes and carrier fees. It's slightly over half the cost of the tickets, bloody absurd. I'm querying it atm, will take it to ASA if necessary, it was advertised as free flights.

Kids are back to school today. Not sleeping well atm, too much on my mind, and we moved our bedroom around (had to remove tv from wall and paint) and it's all WRONG! I am knackered and didn't need waking up by three boys yelling at each other. They are all tired and digging at each other.

triplets · 06/01/2015 08:15

Tom Conte Chops.......though he is on the short side as well........he and Shabs will be a perfect match :o

I feel tired, be alright when I get out, off to get my hair cut, its been driving me mad!

bubby64 · 06/01/2015 16:20

hi girls - had a call to go back to hospital again to have further xrays with brace on, the spinal unit said they would look at these and let us know this afternoon if I have got to be operated on, apparently the fracture is now "potentially unstable" which scared the he'll out of us both. DH's work were being a pain (again) and wanted written proof he had to take me this morning. Lovely consultant wrote them a letter to say why he had to take me back, and that there would potentially be a lot of appointments that I would need his support at. They want him to make up his hours as soon as possibleAngry Angry i also spoke to mortgage company - they were lovely. It seems that I have been overpaying for several years (standing order set up when rate was higher and I never changed it) and this means we are quite a lot in credit, so they have stopped payments for next few months and can continue to do so for quite a while before we go into arrears.Grin
trips- fantastic that your DH has such a positive specialist nurse, and that she does know her stuff so well
Chops -I had that with a trip I won a number of yrs ago, we didn't go in the end, as the info was apparently in the small printHmm hope you get it sorted
Soks - glad yours are back to school- my 2 go back tomorrow, and it won't be a day too soon! I have told then to pack their bags and PE kit, and check all their uniform, including cleaning and waterproof spaying their shoe, as I couldn't do it for them, they say they have done it, but time will tellWink
Hi Shabs- relief all round now our thread is back to normal, or, at least, what we call normalGrin

Chopstheduck · 06/01/2015 19:57

Aw no Bubby :( was really hoping it wouldn't come to that. But at least some good news about the mortgage and hopefully the letter will hep for your dh.

Someone tweeted about my problem with the holiday, and the company have backed down! They are going to pay for the whole lot Grin

triplets · 06/01/2015 22:18

Blimey Shabs never thought of a meatball buttie........dk wont allow chip ones. So when he isnt here me and the boys have chip and fish finger butties.........dd says we are disgusting........she is her fathers daughter :o Oh girls must say its lovely to be back to how it used to be.........if only a few old dear faces would pop in........perhaps we should have a thorough Spring clean, chuck out the shag pile, God knows whats been going on on it with all the shenanigans..............I`ll sort the trolley, just needs some oil as its a bit squeaky.........will make us all something to start a new, orders taken up until midnight............

shabbadabbadingdong · 06/01/2015 22:27

Mmmmmmm home made chip butty - on thick white bread with lurpak on....loads of vinegar and salt and a vat of strong cider to go with it.......

triplets · 06/01/2015 22:38

first order is in I see Hmm

shabbadabbadingdong · 06/01/2015 23:05
Blush
Minisoksmakehardwork · 07/01/2015 04:09

[pops remaining mince pies on trolley]

Fish finger butty. Mmmmm. Dh lathers his with (bleurgh) salad cream.

Jen's bloods came back clear so phew. Just have to tell preschool she's clearly a major klutz. And sporting a mahoosive double bruise on her knee/shin as well as loads of small ones from hurtling herself around over the Xmas holidays.

Did you hear anything from the hospital Bubs?

triplets · 07/01/2015 07:23

why were you up at such an unearthly hour Soks?

shabbadabbadingdong · 07/01/2015 07:42

Morning girls xx

Got about 2-3 hours sleep all night. I am way beyond knackered....

bubby64 · 07/01/2015 08:08

The boys have gone off to school, with PE kit, lunchboxes and all they need in backpacks - short panic from J as he said he didn't have any pens- had to tell DH where my emergency secret stash of pens, pencils, spare ruler etc were hidden, so now sorted- I am lying here in a peaceful house, just me and the animals (i won't tell dh they are on the bed if you don't, but I have put a protective sheet over the topGrin )
No soks- didn't hear from hospital so obviously they are happy to leave things for now, which is a case of no news is good news, why so little sleep??
Shabs - I buy the packs of frozen meatballs for J as he won't eat anything with tomatoes in except pizza! He has them dry with the pasta if we have a bolognase (sp?) he is quite happy to eat plain pasta, nothing more horrible in my opinion.
Trips -chip butties, yum, your DH and dd don't know what their missing Grin
Chops really good news about the holiday, bet they decided that it was cheaper to back down than get all the negative publicity Wink

Minisoksmakehardwork · 07/01/2015 18:57

Evening. I have a limpet and a dog for children today. Joys!

Chopstheduck · 07/01/2015 20:48
