I think they’ll just turn it off, maybe Give a few days notice, but not necessarily.

They’ve just turned the security queue off without any notice.

Blinglover · 09/10/2024 16:44

I did see that M&S and Sainsbury's are hiring Christmas temps now @Itsenough4now ...10000/20000 posts respectively. If you google M&S or Sainsbury's Christmas jobs you can find the links to apply. I have a HR/resourcing background so if you need help with doing a cv or application feel free to pm me. Good luck with your search. I'm just trying to do odd surveys now to replace Potato as thankfully it wasn't my main source of income, used the money I earned there for past couple of years to top up my gas direct debit so shall be wearing thick hoodie all day instead and telling my teens to do the same! ...Feel for those who really relied on it though..I too think it will just close to us all overnight.

Itsenough4now · 09/10/2024 17:36

Thanks, will take a look. I am grateful I am not the main breadwinner in my household but it was nice earning a decent amount each month. Oh well!

Yep like security & rep I think it will just stop working. No announcement. No goodbyes. Just people shouting into the void on slack.

Toodaloobaloo · 09/10/2024 17:57

@Itsenough4now Remote content moderator jobs do pop up occasionally with other companies, I’ve just found some with Securly after a quick google search, but I’m sure there’s more out there. Probably won’t have the flexibility of potato, but it’s something. careervault.io/remote/securly-7091/writing/content-moderator-student-safety-analyst-remote-birmingham-england-united-kingdom-remote-1928748?utm_campaign=google_jobs_apply&utm_source=google_jobs_apply&utm_medium=organic

bambam210 · 10/10/2024 11:37

If anyone does find any Remote content moderator jobs can you please post, might help some of us at least find something

JoeyCreek · 10/10/2024 13:01

I’m a former Crisp moderator I say former as there is no content. For weeks I have had my laptop open ready to moderate and there is no content. Yesterday I moderated the grand total of 3 items all day - equates to about 12p of earnings!

What I don’t understand is why the Shift Managers are still pretending there is work and going on Slack everyday with the usual “I’m here til 12” and “going on break Linda covering”. Why the pretence?

When I check the content queue there is roughly about 30/40 items to be moderated by potentially almost 600 moderators so no ones getting content!!

Sad state of affairs.

Itsenough4now · 10/10/2024 13:51

I do find this really weird. But I guess they are still working so have to just carry on like normal. I don't bother with it anymore but I do look at slack to see if there is any news.

Redcrayons · 10/10/2024 13:52

They’ve obviously been told not to talk about it and if, as most people seem to suspect, the content is going into different queues, then they are probably still busy.
The well-being channel is a joke, completely ignoring anyone raising concerns and posting cat memes to each other. So insensitive.

It’s always been like this though. I’ve been on there for years, the SMs have been evasive and unhelpful on queries and sometimes straight up rude.

Turtle066 · 10/10/2024 14:08

SMs are just freelancers and have nothing to do with any of the decisions. Not sure what do you expect from them. You should not be angry at them.

Toodaloobaloo · 10/10/2024 14:17

I don’t understand why they don’t just shut the remaining queues we have available to us and the paltry amount of content left in them and move that too. It feels like they’re keeping us in holding almost? Giving us scraps. Why not just put everyone out of their misery and tell us there’s no more work, or are they afraid of potential legal repercussions from the freelancers who have been there a number of years?

To clarify, by they, I mean the company, not the SMs, their hands are tied and their jobs may be at risk too.

JoeyCreek · 10/10/2024 15:13

Someone posted a really cringey message yesterday thanking the SMs. Thanking them for what? Pretending nothing is happening? Reading all the messages from scared and upset freelancers and not replying?

Yes I know they probably can’t say anything but it’s the pretence it’s business as usual that annoys me. There is no content to moderate so we don’t need to know if they’re going on break. We are on a permanent break.

ilikeeggs · 10/10/2024 16:42

I saw a message saying they had suspended the minimum moderating requirements but does that apply to being paid - will we get paid for the month if we’ve made like £5?

MotherOfVizslas · 10/10/2024 18:02

I feel really sorry for the people for whom this is their main source of income.

I know it's never been guaranteed, but it's been a good source of income for a long time

AdaShelby · 10/10/2024 19:07

It's over at potato. They're hoping we all just leave quietly.

I know it's over too but I really want them to say it! Lol, I think it's like a closure thing!

ZetaPuppis · 11/10/2024 18:02

I haven't been on potato for a long time now. It was going downhill for at least a couple of years.
I used to make ok money quite easily and then I was struggling to make the minimum.
The staff were quite good as they contacted me to ask if I wanted to stay on as they'd noticed I hadn't been doing much. I explained that I was struggling to get content but wanted to continue, so they kept me on. I still struggled and gave up so I got kicked off.
Such a shame.
It really helped me out at a difficult time.

AdaShelby · 11/10/2024 21:30

It is a shame but they should be ashamed as to how they're letting this go on. People are saying they're going to be in dire straights and yet still nothing. Bunch of cunts.

JoeyCreek · 11/10/2024 23:09

yes, I’ve read some really sad things from moderators who say it’s their only job & they won’t be able to pay bills etc.

And yet the shift mangers are still coming on with their usual bullshit “taking a break Lynn is covering”. Covering what? There is no content for anyone to moderate so why would we need a shift manager 🤦🏻‍♀️

Anyone had any issues with cash outs not appearing in your account from Pr0lific?

No mine have been ok, cash out twice recently.

Alloveragain3 · 14/10/2024 22:18

Prolific also reliable and quick with my pay outs. Goes into PayPal no bother.

SlurpSlooChortle · 15/10/2024 14:12

Thanks guys. They normally pay immediately and I had one payment that took from Thursday until Monday to come in - so hardly ages, but I had a panic as they are normally so good!

BecauseOfIndia · 16/10/2024 10:23

For the Crisp people, take a look at Telus International, which is advertising a few remote UK jobs - https://jobs.telusdigital.com/en_US/careers/SearchPipelines/?3_53_3=5138#

I've done a fair bit of work with them in the past and I wouldn't say they are great employers, but then none of these companies are really! They have contacted me several times recently about my work availability so they are definitely recruiting.

MrsDilligaf · 16/10/2024 17:04

I've had a good run on prolific this month, and have just had a referral code for a curve card, if you haven't got one you get a tenner for signing up....

I use mine daily, only have the basic one, but I've had it for years.

Link is below if you want a free tenner

Hey! 👋 I've found a game-changer: Curve Pay. It's the only mobile wallet that actually saves you money. I use it to dodge foreign transaction fees, stack cashback, and even change which card I paid with after purchase (they call it ‘Go Back in Time'). Trust me, it's worth trying. Sign up with my link and get £10 free. Let's save together! www.curve.com/join#N7XG7L9N
