UC disabled child backdate

A few people are waiting for the uc backdate for the disabled child element. So thought I'd make a thread about it instead of doing it on the dla thread lol x

I see I'm coming up on two weeks now so probably another two to wait probably longer for the carers element coz they buggered that up so didn't go to the dm at the same time grr lol

@Kits45 it's so frustrating isn't it. I'm currently waiting for a decision on my carers allowance x

@Kits45 it’s been 3 weeks today mine got sent to decision maker and still no update

It's such a grind this like I'll give it another two weeks and I'll be on the blower to them tell them to get a bloody wriggle on lol

i did mine 26th October was done by 31st x

Has anyone had the 2nd cost of living payment as yet?

I’m still waiting, i got a UC payment in the qualifying period so hopefully it shouldn’t be long..

No nothing, it will be 4 weeks on monday, I’ve left a note on my journal so see if they get back to me

I'm sorry but there is no update on your disability back pay and unfortunately we are unable to provide a timescale. As soon as a decision has been made, they will put a letter in your journal.

@Jhtm well that response from them isn't helpful isit lol the system is terrible like when u owe them money there bang on it but if they owe you it takes them ages to sort it typical hopfully you will have an answer next week I'll saddle up for another 2 week wait at least then lol x

Have been accepted for back dating on both this morning very happy just over 2 weeks waiting which isn't to bad hope everyone else gets there decision soon xx

Does anyone know if you are better off claiming carers allowance I’ve had to drop my working hours to 6.5 hours a week I’m wondering if I should or do they just take it off ur universal credit

They do take it off your uc I'm not sure how much extra you get I think they take money for each pound. I've decided against getting it just coz I think it will just complicate everything lol

How long after they have made the decision do they sort it all out I had the decision last Sunday still heard nothing from the case manager despite leaving him a message :/

sorry to jump on this so late, i Received this same letter as you a week ago. Did you have to get onto them about the back payment? Or did you just wait for them to contact you again about it if you don’t mind me asking.
I want to write on my journal about it but I don’t really know what to say xxx

Hi everyone ☺️. I wonder if anyone knows answer to my question. My twins got awarded DLA recently. I’ve reported to UC over a week ago for backdating carers and disability elements. Spoke to lady on the phone today and she said that I get disability element for both but carers for one . I am really confused. Still no response from dm regarding backdating . Will appreciate any advise 🥰

can someone advise me. In my uc journal i asked for both elements for caring and disability to be backdated. I got a letter from decision maker they agreed to backdate the disability. But no word on the carer element. I havent applied for carers allowance. I then messaged again about the carer element. Now thats gone to the decision maker. For a ‘potential backdate’ no idea what this means. But has anyone else had the same experience????

both of my boys get DLA, but I can only get carers allowance for one of them aswell. If their dad/partner lives with you they may be able to claim for the other child x
