UC disabled child backdate

A few people are waiting for the uc backdate for the disabled child element. So thought I'd make a thread about it instead of doing it on the dla thread lol x

Hey thanks for reply. Not true hun. You dont have to claim carers allowance to get the carer element. I dont claim carers allowance. My backdate for uc carer element has been accepted last week. But no payment. Messaged twice and on journal and no response. Does anyone know how this works

I had my letter to accept under special circumstances but haven't had my backpay letter yet. Contemplating whether to add another note on my journal lol, this whole thing is the longest waiting game😅

After 3 weeks of waiting since the special circumstances letter was in my journal back pay was in my account yesterday. Happy days as we move house next week. :) Good luck to all still waiting.

@Lilbunnyfufu hi, can you give me some advice my two children get dla and I am carer for one my partner may need to quit his job to care for the other as both children have complex needs, do you and your partner work or have caring duties for.your children claiming carers etc thank you

Hi, I had a missed call today and after it had a message on my journal saying they’d tried to call about an underpayment. Has anybody had them call about the backpay before? I had the letter on my journal 8 days a go saying it was being awarded due to special circumstances so have been waiting for contact from them, just have never heard of them calling before.

Hi everyone, just wondered if anyone can advise me on how to add child disability to my UC claim? Do I need to contact them through journal? I managed to update the carers part but can only find a section to update my own health changes not children. We were awarded child disability payment for my son today backdated to January

@Mum2thr33 go to the section children and others who live with me. Put the date your award starts to January date and it will give your child details and option to select they now get disability benefit. Then send a request on your journal saying you’ve just received award notice and would like it sent to decision marker and have the element date to start of award in January.

Has anyone ever had a note on the journal to say carers element has been backdated but no mention of disabled child element? We had a letter from decision makes added last week stating they were awarding under special circumstances and yesterday had another update to say carers element was backdated to January and money would be in my account tomorrow. Do they usually come separately?

Hi,I know this forum was months ago but did you get the disabled element backdate? If so how long after the carers element? I got rewarded for carers element and disabled element back payment last month and they backdated the carers element last week Thursday in the morning but not the disabled element, I’ve messaged on journal to see why but heard nothing back from them.

@beccabooo hey hun, how long did you wait for any acknowledgment after putting a note on your journal asking for backpay if u don't mind me asking. I can't answer your question but I have seen someone on the dla page say they had a message saying the disabled element backpay had gone missing/ignored so they've had to start the process over and she's got to wait longer x

I put the request in on the 24th December and got the decision for it to be backdated for carers element and disability element on the 23rd October in my journal. Oh god missed/ignored.

I have called after I got both letters to say I’ve been accepted and they confirmed it,they told me to wait till the 26th November if I haven’t had a payment for both but they just paid one the carers this month.

I keep leaving messages but my case worker never responds and prior to me requesting back payment I had to call numerous times till someone actually left a note for my case manager to get back to me on it x

i seem on another post months ago someone got paid the carers back payment but not the disability but there is no posts after their post. X

@beccabooo December? Please don't tell me it's taken almost a year to get them to backdate but also mess up. I've put a note on my journal under payments and work coach and still not had anything back. I'll put another on in a couple of days if no response still. It's mad isn't it, if we owed them money they'd be right on our case to get it back x

I’ve done my reply wrong. Sorry massive brain fog and currently trying to rush a assignment in that’s due in two days, my minds not with it,found out today I put a box of weetabix in freezer thinking it was pizza lol.

24th of September I meant for the request I put in.

they are rubbish at replying back, I got told i don’t have a work coach so putting messages there doesn’t get a response,just gets lost in the system.

oh they soon would be on your case if you owed money or missed a appointment. I did get told there is no time frame but it’s just stupid how they make you wait. X
