UC disabled child backdate

A few people are waiting for the uc backdate for the disabled child element. So thought I'd make a thread about it instead of doing it on the dla thread lol x

My son was accepted for lower rate mobility and care. I updated it on UC on 9 th Feb. I'm due to get my UC on 14th march will the disabled element go on . I requested it to be back dated as originally they turned him down. I done a MR and he was accepted after that so his claim is fron27th July 22 does that mean they will back date the element back to then if so how long is this taking. Tia.

Hello again. I've had message in my journal to say they are backdating for special circumstances. So does anyone kno how long a payment takes for this. Thank u in advance.

@Elle1978 Once you get that letter on your journal it takes around a week or two to go into your bank, well it did for me and it didn’t take long for other mams. The disability element should show on your statement also x

Hiya how long after your reported on your journal for backdating did it take for you to receive a letter on your journal

Clairecx It took me a couple of weeks. I am now jus waiting for payment.

Hiya does anyone no how long after letting universal credit no about child disability does it take for decision maker to put letter on journal saying if it’s being backdated ?

It took mine about 3 to 4 weeks to get the letter on journal it been about a week since having that letter. So I am awaiting payment hopefully within the next week. Good luck all

Universal credit reported mine to decision maker on 27th february they said I should have letter on journal within a month

Hey everyone, I added my daughters DLA to my uc 2 weeks ago & was told once its been verified it will then go to a decision maker about backdating. How long did it take before you had the disabled child element added/verified?

Hiya mine got sent to decision maker on the 27th february was told should have decision about backdating within a month

@Clairecxx thanks for replying! How long did it take them to add the disabled child element to your uc payments? They haven’t added mine on yet, feel like I’m gonna be waiting forever lol

I get carers allowance for 1 child and my husband gets it for the other.

@Clairecxx I got a phone call about the amount, they asked if I wanted it in a lump sum or splitting over 6 months and then it was paid to me the next day!!
I waited around a week or just over a week for the phone call after the letter went onto my journal x

I got a note on my journal yesterday telling me how much and they said it will be in my account next 3 working days to keep checking my bank

Clairecxx that's great news. I'm still waiting for them to update it on my journal it's been jis over 2 weeks since letter on my journal so am going to call tomorrow to see what is happening.

Put note saying any update from decision maker that’s what I did and that same day got the letter and was told be in my bank 3 working days

This is what I got today. So still waiting. Just my luck. Anyone else had this. Tia😀
