Appen has many projects for different clients and you choose which ones you apply for. The information is given on the project overview to let you decide if it's a good match or not.

I do UTest quite a lot, although I'm turning down every project offered this weekend as it's DD3's birthday tomorrow. It takes some effort to get started, but I've turned down 9 cycles in the last 2 days, so the work is there if you put some effort in.

Email from B* re. Invoicing. It's putting me off doing more this month if they become available now It's my first month with an invoice to submit and not filling me with confidence!

Absolutely fuming with B* they have messed us about with the invoices for weeks, now this! We won't get paid until end of the month now! Especially as the original email said 5-10 minutes for each task and not to rush, totally unfair. The current situation means so many of us need the money we are earning as partners not being paid etc.

@527040minutes is it your invoice due for payment that’s wrong or you just haven’t had any hours uploaded for April yet? If it’s this month don’t worry it will be right by the time it’s due for submission, dont worry 😀

We were given a task with a time allowed of 5-10 minutes. After weeks of waiting all hours were added and invoice approved on time. Now we've had an email saying everyone's hours are being pulled off and capped at 5 minutes per task and will be reloaded by 15th Apr. This means we will be paid late and for less hours than we worked , if we took over 5 minutes per task. This is for March.

@girlicorne they're resubmitting March's. I only did a small amount to test it before jumping in feet first, so it's not about the money but not sure whether to keep going with them now as not sure I trust them to invoice properly/on time. Not sure if this is normal for Ap, or if it's just this project though?

Pretty cross about the 5 minute thing. They said 5-10 and don't rush. They also kicked some people off because they were quicker than 5 mins!

I'm just concerned that if they have done this for part 1 who's to say they won't think they can do it for part 2 and 3 and get the work done for peanuts. The email they sent originally definitely said 5-10 minutes but they won't respond to tickets and they've closed the project chat so there's nowhere we can raise this issue. Surely they can't keep pulling our invoices out and changing them to lower and lower amounts of hours. And even if our hours don't change we're still being penalised as we will be paid several weeks late. Sorry for the rant, I just feel so enraged.

Definitely said 5 to 10 minutes in their original email and I think I spent 10 roughly, so will definitely lose a few quid. It is a bit cheeky of them. If they could not verify this correctly in the original guidelines they should pay us as normal this time and then alter the guidelines going forward to reflect these changes. I am not happy!

So, if my invoice has been approved and is queued for payment does that mean the whole invoice will be deferred til next month or will the bane hours be deleted. That is fucking shit. I am gonna raise a ticket and let rip.

I was wondering about the hours on my approved and queued for payment invoice too. Surely they can't recall the payment? Maybe take it out of next months, I am not sure.

My payment has been approved too. Grrr so annoying!

Check out social on Appen. People are going crazy. Here is a picture of the original work instructions if anyone needs it.

The invoice will be pulled out of the queue and we'll prob be paid about 2-3 weeks late for all our projects for March. They can't pay the other projects separately. Once the hours have been 'corrected' we'll have to resubmit the invoice and wait for it to be approved again.

Everyone email Appen and the finance team to complain

r.e. Bane - someone on social has posted the link to their modern slavery policy and how to whistleblow. Might be worth waiting to see what happens on Monday/Tuesday and then doing that. Doing 10 mins work and being paid for 5 is not minimum wage! i'm hoping all the emails and posts will sort it out.

What bothers me most is that I won't be paid for anything this month. I was relying on that money coming through on Tuesday to pay for shopping and I have two milestone birthdays in our household this month. Feel like crying

@MrsWombat, I've just had a look over on Appen social. People are very cross and rightly so. They cannot possibly do this as it totally contradicts the original guidelines. They can't just with hold payment. It's going to screw a lot of people over, especially now when people's jobs and incomes are already taking a massive hit. I can't believe they think this is an acceptable way to treat people. It's put me off wanting to any more work on B* quite honestly!
