£10 a day thread, January part two

I'm so happy to see the thread has been ticking along with so many new people joining us Grin

It's been a shitty couple of weeks for me. I started out the new year with an awful sore throat, and it turns out I have glandular fever, so I've been too exhausted for any serious money making.

I'm actually really enjoying Chip! It's proving to be a great way to stash all the little bits of money from profilic etc. so I can see it actually adding up to something.

This morning I've switched bank accounts (£100 for joining, then £100 if I leave unhappy in six months) and managed to reduce my life insurance policy by £9 a month, and get £85 cashback for doing so via Quidco, so I'm trying to be productive.

Hope everyone is having a good January.

@StudentHelp, I seem to remember it taking a few days before I got my free share. I'm sure it'll be along soon.

Catatemyhomework · 22/01/2020 10:45

@Frenchdoors1, yes they do get less frequent if your referee doesn't deposit £1 but I have got over £20 for not doing anything really so it's basically free money bar the £1 top up. I guess the shares could increase in value too!

Frenchdoors1 · 22/01/2020 10:48

@Catatemyhomework
Oh yes of course they could increase in value too.
Thank you!

BertieBotts · 22/01/2020 12:04

I've gone and deposited a random £20 from a visit home a year ago into my bank! Only got €19.85 for it, what a swizz Hmm but anyway I'm counting that towards my total, because it's been out of my bank so long I had written it off. They wouldn't take DH's 10000 Korean Won though because they reckoned the fees would be more than half the value. Might try to sell that to a colleague or keep it in case he goes out there again.

Sorry, I think I might have used somebody's freetrade link by accident a while ago. I didn't realise they were single use or that it wasn't available in my country, so I clicked through and it just wouldn't let me download the app. Hopefully it didn't count as a click since I didn't actually manage to sign up.

BertieBotts · 22/01/2020 12:08

Does anyone do YNAB? I am having such fun inputting these random tiny amounts I get paid out and allocating them :o

BeMyEye is annoying me a bit. I submit and it says 100% done so I close the app. Then the next time I open it I get a message saying the report didn't submit in time and I feel so disappointed. Then I can't find a record of it anywhere. Eventually (both times) I get a message saying it did go through, but the report is incomplete and do I want to resubmit? Only one section to redo this time, so I'm improving but aargh annoying. Also it was the most difficult one to photograph because it was huge and right next to the dairy aisle which someone was restocking.

Afternoon all. Just catching up on the last few pages to see where I can help anyone!

Had this opportunity come my way today

Neilson are running a Computer Panel giving you the chance to grab a share of £30,000!

It involves you running their software on your laptop in the background and for every month you run it the higher your chance of winning so nothing to lose and a chance of money to gain!

More details are here

themoneyshed · 22/01/2020 12:36

@StudentHelp

They seem to allocate the free shares once a week, I think it was Thursday when all my free shares turned to actual shares all at once!

themoneyshed · 22/01/2020 12:38

@Lougle

don't spend that £0.01 all at once! Save it for Christmas maybe!

@MoreMoneyPlease

It's great to read things are moving forward for you with Matched Betting. The tools that Profit Accumulator and OddsMonkey offer DWARF what is available on the cheaper / free alternative of Team Profit.

More Tools = More Money!

especially with the Cheltenham Festival just around the corner you will want as many ways / tools as you can to make money!

themoneyshed · 22/01/2020 12:41

Also for anyone else who is just starting matched betting

MISTAKES HAPPEN

Don't sweat it, learn from them and move on

I've talked about it on the Beginner's Guide (blog.themoneyshed.co.uk/what-is-matched-betting/) but mistakes are part of the matched betting journey and it's FAR better to make mistakes at the start than further down the line when you are playing with more money.

During weekends I typically drop around £1000 over Horse racing and football and during Cheltenham that hits around £2500 a DAY!!

so trust me, making mistakes at the start is absolutely fine ;)

MoreMoneyPlease · 22/01/2020 12:49

@ Catatemyhomework Thank you for the tip about NetBet, I definitely won't bother. I've written myself little notes so I can remember which boxes to select on Betfair and Smarkets to make sure I'm laying the bet correctly! It also takes time to see how to select the back bet on each betting site as each one looks different. I'm just impressed I finally know the difference between a back bet and a lay bet!

@themoneyshed Yes, I hope to be up and running for Cheltenham. I like the slow pace of Team Profit at the moment as I can learn as I go along. I haven't even looked at horse racing though, it seems a lot harder than football where there's just win or lose/draw!

MoreMoneyPlease · 22/01/2020 12:50

@themoneyshed When you say 'drop', do you make actually make that amount in profit?? That's amazing!

themoneyshed · 22/01/2020 12:52

@MoreMoneyPlease

No I'm using it to do the offers.

So on a typical saturday I will do around 5-8 horse refund offers. Whatever football offers are around, I also tend to also have an acca offer or two in play as well.

All that requires money to lay the back bet and money for the liability at the exchange end. So I might drop say £600 on horse refund offers for the afternoon to make around £50-£75.

By 5pm all the money is settled and I just withdraw )

Apricotfool · 22/01/2020 12:57

Ah thanks for the freetrade info, I get it now. I thought we only got one freetrade and you lot were selling your trades and buying others.

themoneyshed · 22/01/2020 12:57

@MoreMoneyPlease

Horse racing is SUPER SIMPLE

Back bet = This horse will win
Lay Bet = Any horse BUT this one will win!

For the refunds you are backing and laying and hoping that horse wins

So like the Betfair offer is if your horse is over 4.0 odds at the start and wins you get a £25 free bet

So pick a horse around the 4.0-6.0 mark and back and lay it and then hope it comes in

If you use tools like Profit Accumulators Match Catcher

blog.themoneyshed.co.uk/match-catcher-review/

You qualifying loss will literally be PENCE (as in under 15p per race you do) which is how I can then afford to do so many on Saturdays ;)

TheLolaMontez · 22/01/2020 13:22

Hi all - some voice rating tasks on Clickworker currently, only 2p per task but they're pretty quick to get through Smile

MoreMoneyPlease · 22/01/2020 13:43

Thanks @themoneyshed I'm spending some time reading your articles!

Yugi · 22/01/2020 13:54

Just tracked £30 cash back with Quidco for my Ladbrokes MB sign up. Nice bonus

MoreMoneyPlease · 22/01/2020 13:58

@Yugi do you get all the free sign up offers just the same? I MUST remember this for my next sign up!

otterses · 22/01/2020 14:02

@MrsWombat

Grin OHHHHH! I'll go take a look on Appen!

OP posts:
Yugi · 22/01/2020 15:30

@MoreMoneyPlease I got the free sign up offer but the cashback is only tracked not paid. Ladbrokes may still refuse it but worth trying for it anyway.

BlackCatFan · 22/01/2020 16:45

For anyone who might be interested, Monzo are looking for customer service agents from home;

boards.greenhouse.io/monzo/jobs/1989347

I emailed them to enquire about the hours because I am only looking for p/t hours. They said they would accept p/t applicants, as long as you can work full 9 hour shifts, Monday - Sunday but fewer days. (So for example 3 full days per week)

You don't need a phone line as calls are made through their software on a laptop they provide you with. So you just need a strong internet connection, and a quiet work space.

You also need to be able to get to a two day training session in either Cardiff or Manchester. The rest of the training is done at home.

I'm seriously thinking about applying.

BlackCatFan · 22/01/2020 16:47

In other news, I could have probably earned £100 this month through Userlytics if I hadn't missed all the emails! Plus my phone microphone is being glitchy when I try to do some of the studies. So I recommend Userlytics.. they pay quickly, about a week after the study. The ones I've done so far have been quick and easy, and pay between £10-£20

I've also signed up to Usertesting and Validately, just waiting to hear back regarding my initial test results.

ifuckarses · 22/01/2020 16:51

I signed up for Appen at the start of the month and did the exam for Salway on 8th Jan and when I log on it says there's nothing for me to do and the application is in progress. Any ideas on how long it usually takes to get started on Appen?

I've currently got a 12 month project with Lionbridge which is going to bring in just over £300 a month which is a good start. I'm also just getting in to uTest and have got a paid project going on alongside some of the test cases.

My aim is to see how regular the income is over the next year and then possibly look to only doing this once my son starts school in 2021. I only currently work 2 days a week so hoping to earn £800 a month just doing these types of things. Is this achievable?

otterses · 22/01/2020 17:00

I can't remember if I mentioned that I was recommended for a role with this company. I'm not sure of everyone's background, but I thought I'd post on the off chance it's of any use to anyone. Believe there's two home working roles on there.

@ifuckarses I easily make that on crisp.
