£10 a day thread, January part two

I'm so happy to see the thread has been ticking along with so many new people joining us Grin

It's been a shitty couple of weeks for me. I started out the new year with an awful sore throat, and it turns out I have glandular fever, so I've been too exhausted for any serious money making.

I'm actually really enjoying Chip! It's proving to be a great way to stash all the little bits of money from profilic etc. so I can see it actually adding up to something.

This morning I've switched bank accounts (£100 for joining, then £100 if I leave unhappy in six months) and managed to reduce my life insurance policy by £9 a month, and get £85 cashback for doing so via Quidco, so I'm trying to be productive.

Hope everyone is having a good January.

@BlackCatFan

Same. It's a shame! I really like peppermint Grin

If you are on Appen Banner, then Figure 8 will be the "website" that you do the work on. There will probably be a special link on the project page (where it currently says LINK TO COME in blue, maybe?) and you sign in to figure 8 though this link. (This is how it worked with a previous project for me) It says on the project page that data will be available at the end of January, but don't hold your breath as I'm still waiting for the data for the previous project that uses this process. Grin

BertieBotts · 19/01/2020 13:36

OK so I signed up to Appen using the link I was sent. Now I've had this in an email back and am a bit confused:

"We thank all applicants for their interest, however, only those under consideration will be contacted. Please continue to monitor our website and apply for additional opportunities for which you are qualified and may be of interest to you. You will only receive a future email from us if your qualification package has been reviewed and is under consideration."

Does this mean I've just applied for one project and I should look at more? Or I'm still waiting to be approved for an account in the first place?

I'm finding BeMyEye looks good, plenty of opportunities near me. But I'm a bit nervous about going into smaller shops especially if they have the super obvious shelf photography thing.

Clickworker app is playing up for me. I tried to do a task involving photos and it won't access my camera properly, just displays a black screen. I am waiting to hear back from the support team. But annoying as until then I can only do the tasks on the website.

Had a go at Rev.

otterses · 19/01/2020 13:39

@BertieBotts

I'd read that as you're waiting to be approved as an 'agent' - so not applied to any projects yet as you've not been accepted yet. Does that sound right? Sorry it's been a while since I applied!

spacepoppers · 19/01/2020 14:04

@GachaBread yes I am really enjoying it now, thanks for encouraging me to stick with it! Incidentally how did you manage to become one of the approved? I'd love that!

GachaBread · 19/01/2020 14:23

@spacepoppers They emailed me with the role. I applied and they sent me the training manual and that was it. It was only open to me because I am a level 20 eye. I am assuming that a lot of other level 20,s got the gig too.

At round about the same time I had the opportunity to join Roamlers team as an approver too. I had the interview but they decided someone else would be better for the role. I am on Level 6 with Roamler. I am also based close to their head office in Birmingham West Mids.

You just have to carry on doing what you are doing and watch out for any opportunity's that arise. The more jobs that you do the more experience you will gain which will go in your favour.

Tohaveandtohold · 19/01/2020 15:16

I still have a Freetrade link if anyone wants to use it.
freetrade.io/freeshare/?code=2OF7NTMP3R&sender=VgmYaFG5

BertieBotts · 19/01/2020 16:19

Yep, that also sounds fine. I will wait to hear back from them :)

spacepoppers · 19/01/2020 18:03

Thanks @GachaBread I will carry on as I am and hope to level up asap!

I've been lurking on this thread for a couple of weeks now and I'm so grateful for Otterses starting it and all the helpful tips!

So far i've earnt almost nothing Grin but i've spent 2 weeks reading and applying and prepping to earn from home so I now have:

  • A new email address
  • A new paypal account
  • A new Monzo account with Debit Card
  • A spreadsheet set up to record my log in details and balances

And i've applied for:

  • Crisp (19/20 passed) Appen (had the same email as @BertieBotts*)
  • UserTesting (been accepted) *Angelfish *Populous Live
  • Prolific
  • Clickworker
  • Tern
  • Grassroots
  • The Silent Customer
  • Loads of task apps - BeMyEye, Roamler, Field Agent, EasyShift and a couple of others.

All the task apps seem dire/no work except for BeMyEye - and I've completed the PetsAtHome task (before I read the comments saying how often it got refused) when it was for £20. It got declined once but only two questions came back as needing correction (as I completely missed the kitten food pics) - so i've corrected this and am awaiting approval and keeping my fingers crossed!

Next step is matched betting but I need to wait for pay day to have a few quid to start.

Hoping that some of these start to materialise over the next few weeks and i'm keeping on reading for more ideas, I love this thread!

BertieBotts · 19/01/2020 20:34

It seems like most of the retail tasks in Germany have that photo thing that people are complaining about. I did a €20 one and had to redo 3 sections but then it got approved and I got my money for it, so it hasn't put me off. It seems there is a bit of a knack to it but not too tricky when you've got the hang.

I've applied for a uTest thing to test a food delivery website :o They will reimburse us up to an amount for the food - winners! I have a feeling it might not be in our city though sadly based on the form. Oh well, will see what comes back from that!

I do want to do some matched betting. Is there a good time of day/day of week to do it or can you just set and forget?

Glittersocks · 19/01/2020 22:00

MB - hello my ducks, new customers of Betfair can get 30 free spins in the Casino (if you’ve never played in there before). This is risk free, no money required!

I played Age of the Gods: Ruler of the Seas and had £13.71 added to my little pot in the exchange.

Choosername · 19/01/2020 22:05

Hello everyone!

Been waiting for some luck with projects, finally have qualified for the banner page one for Appen. But they're looking over my paperwork before they send me confirmation. Does anyone know what the pay rate is for this one?

I was also sent an invite on Utest for a voice thing or something. I've accepted it last week but nothing since then.

We've been hit with a £1000 blow, and I've gone back 2 months worth of savings which is really shit. Trying to be frugle but the kids are noticing. Would love to win the lottery right now!

MoreMoneyPlease · 19/01/2020 22:07

@Glittersocks Is it obvious how you claim the free spins? I find the Betfair site very confusing so would hate to click on the wrong thing!

Glittersocks · 19/01/2020 22:14

@MoreMoneyPlease Actually, it’s in the Arcade and not the Casino. Click the Arcade tab and there’s a big promo for 30 Free Spins. This’ what I clicked. Good luck!

MoreMoneyPlease · 19/01/2020 22:32

@Glittersocks I didn't do so well as you but just made £1.12 so thanks for that!

girlicorne · 19/01/2020 23:20

Just reporting in with some matched betting and low risk casino winnings from the weekend. I tried matched betting a couple of years ago and thought I d done all the sign ups but found I hadn’t done betfred or the massive bet 365 one so I did both of those and made a £90 profit and also made around £10 off the betfair offer on Leicester Burnley. I took advantage of some free spin casino emails as well two separate ten free spin offers with only 1x wagering and made £54 on those! I also managed 20 hours Crisp from finishing work Friday and two hours on my Appen hour a day project so I think around £220 for that! I am so determined to make a living out of this so I can shut down my other business as I hate it and get no financial gain or job satisfaction from it any more!
Hope everyone else has had a productive weekend!!

MrsJackRackham · 20/01/2020 07:01

Apologies if this app has been recommended before, I've just signed up for Shopminium. If you buy one of the listed products and scan your receipt you get refunded via PayPal. There's a welcome gift (I got a bar of Dairy Milk) and a £3 refer a friend bonus. My referral code is i4dy4i if anyone would be so kind to use it. Grin
You can also keep all your store cards there as well.

RedPanda25 · 20/01/2020 07:01

Does anyone have a link to sign up to crisp thinking and Appen please?

RedPanda25 · 20/01/2020 07:30

Thank you!!

RedPanda25 · 20/01/2020 07:38

Do I have to attach a CV to Appen? I don't have an up to date one currently.

odddogout · 20/01/2020 08:37

Long time lurker, first time poster here. Just wanted to say thanks to you all for your advice and support. I’ve been following since early last year (thanks for starting the threads @ottersesSmile) and have managed to get work via Crisp, Appen and iSoftstone, which I would never have discovered otherwise. Respondent and Utest have also been working quite well for me.

I just started using Chip last week and really like it so far, it’s easy to use and saves a small (adjustable) amounts every few days. Am hoping it will help me to build up a pot of savings without me even noticing! I have a promo code which gets you £10 if you sign up today if anyone’s interested: 3VMA9BRL

I can only echo what everyone’s already said about this thread being amazing, so let’s keep up the money makingSmile!

sunnyflowerblooming · 20/01/2020 09:04

@lilmishap you are right about Honeygain. I also read that for some it's not working so well, but for me it works quit good, the same as for you. I got a few payouts without putting any effort.
Btw, I think in Reddit (if I'm not mistaken), they shared a code "forumbee" that is for new users and gives £5. I already used mine and at the beginning it's so motivational to get £5 instantly to your new account. I know it's just a small detail but I enjoyed it a lot Xmas Blush Grin in general, I think hat a small details are really important in our lives Smile

StudentHelp · 20/01/2020 09:22

If anyone wanted to join Chip I’ve been given a referral code which means someone gets a free £10 (I get £5 I think)
It’s an app that helps you save by taking small amounts that you won’t notice
