£10 a day thread, January part two

I'm so happy to see the thread has been ticking along with so many new people joining us Grin

It's been a shitty couple of weeks for me. I started out the new year with an awful sore throat, and it turns out I have glandular fever, so I've been too exhausted for any serious money making.

I'm actually really enjoying Chip! It's proving to be a great way to stash all the little bits of money from profilic etc. so I can see it actually adding up to something.

This morning I've switched bank accounts (£100 for joining, then £100 if I leave unhappy in six months) and managed to reduce my life insurance policy by £9 a month, and get £85 cashback for doing so via Quidco, so I'm trying to be productive.

Hope everyone is having a good January.

I can't even sign up for Utest, it keeps kicking me back to the front page after filling everything in.

Lougle · 16/01/2020 23:01

@SNISR you could try to join via my referral link. I don't know if will help. I don't think I get anything from you doing it, but it might get you in?

Whatsmyname2019 · 16/01/2020 23:33

Are we all relieved we got our crisp statements? Now have to work out how to send an invoice lol please tell me it’s easy? I’m registered with utest but when I did that utterance test I panicked with all the would you download etc? Do you all just say yes?

ZetaPuppis · 16/01/2020 23:46

@Whatsmyname2019 my invoice was only for about £13 but I sent it in anyway more so I could set up an invoice.
I just used a template saved as a word doc and copied all the data from the statement.
It took a while but now it’s set up, next time it will be easier.
I’m still so slow. I just end reading all the linked articles to make sure and looking up stuff etc.
I’ll keep going because I like it and I don’t have anything better to do some days...

SNISR · 17/01/2020 08:12

Thank you @lougle I will give it a try.

SNISR · 17/01/2020 08:34

Quick question about Utest, do we have to do all the courses and quiz before we can participate in the projects?

Catatemyhomework · 17/01/2020 09:09

@SNISR, I did do some of the courses and quizzes, but I don't know if it was essential for this project. Also, after you've done the fifth course and quiz, you can ask to be invited to do a test cycle. Once you've done it and it's been approved I think it increases your rating which triggers invitations to paid test cycles. I think, that's how I understand it anyway. @Lougle may be able to give you more advice.

SNISR · 17/01/2020 09:20

Thank you so much for that information @Catatemyhomework 😊

Lougle · 17/01/2020 09:32

@Catatemyhomework I think you might be ahead of me!

@SNISR I have done a few of the academy test cycles. They are great for a couple of reasons - first, you get to work through the different testing types without being truly judged on your work. If you make a mistake, the TTL (test team lead) will ask for more information, link to a document and say 'please review points 1.2, 1.6, 3.1...etc. Then you can modify your report step by step until it aligns with the required format.

The other great thing about the academy cycles, in slight contradiction to my first point, is that you can be rated based on your academy cycles. You get a +1 for a somewhat useful issue, +2 for very useful and +3 for exceptionally useful. Once you are rated, you're more likely to be invited to paid cycles.

SNISR · 17/01/2020 10:22

Thank you @Lougle that's great help.

nothingchangesonnewyearsday · 17/01/2020 10:36

Anyone had their invoice paid?

2under2survivor · 17/01/2020 10:42

@nothingchangesonnewyearsday submitted this morning, not paid yet. I'm assuming now that's it's Friday it won't get paid until next week, but who knows.

I was going to set up a separate bank account for my earnings to help me keep track for tax purposes but have decided to stash the money away in my Chip account instead - if anyone is looking to sign up they can use my referral code which is ND4UIC which gives you a £10 boost.

otterses · 17/01/2020 10:53

@nothingchangesonnewyearsday

PayPal invoices have always been paid within 24 hours of submission in my experience, so you should get paid today Smile

Can anyone please help me with utest?
I'm failing at life.

I got the email about signing up to the insiders programme. Did that.

Read through the test case thing and booked a slot. There were two options.

  1. I have windows edge and have not signed up to the insiders programme.
  2. I have windows edge and belong to the insiders programme.

Initially I chose 1. Except I had already signed up to the insiders programme - because the email told me to. So I unclaimed that slot, went to claim the second slot 'I am already part of the insiders programme'. And I keep seeing that the slots are all claimed - except that apparently they have not all been claimed. I don't understand Confused but I think I've fcked up.

Is there somebody I can contact at utest or what do I do now? I will give fifty pounds (of virtual bacon) to anyone who can help me!

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 17/01/2020 11:12

Couple of new projects on Appen.

I just passed an exam only to find there is no work at the moment. Grrr!
It was B**R if anyone is thinking about it!

MynameisJune · 17/01/2020 11:14

Had an email from lionbridge offering me a position as a social media evaluator. So with that and crisp should be able to do £20 a day most days. Very happy with that as I’m at zero earnings now mat pay has stopped.

themoneyshed · 17/01/2020 11:28

Another free share for you lovely people!

Don’t forget you need to deposit £1 to get your free share with £3-£200

toastytea · 17/01/2020 11:28

New project on appen!!

Whatsmyname2019 · 17/01/2020 11:28

@MynameisJune did you send a cv to Lionbridge?

nothingchangesonnewyearsday · 17/01/2020 11:30

@Otterses they don't seem to be running to their usual schedule this month though :-(

ZetaPuppis · 17/01/2020 11:35

@MynameisJune you’ll have to let us know which one works out better for you Smile

Bemystarlord · 17/01/2020 11:40

If anyone wants to sign up for the Lionbridge job this is a link:

Bemystarlord · 17/01/2020 11:42

@SimplyBlue if you click on the speech bubble top right of the screen it will open a new page where you can chat woth the project managers and team leads for any test cases you are in. If you ask on there they will sort any issues you have. They are all nice and helpful on that team.

Flube · 17/01/2020 11:45

I'm finding the lionbridge exam revision really daunting and overwhelming. There is just so much information that I feel it's not all sinking in.

And not off to a great start on MB. I fucked up my first bet (placed the wrong lay bet). And now it looks like I haven't received my free bets, gah!

SimplyBlue · 17/01/2020 11:49

@Bemystarlord thank you! I found the chat and they've fixed it Smile
