I know there have been numerous threads on this topic, but I have struggled to understand how to go about getting started. The more I read about it the more overwhelmed I become. Spreadsheets, separate bank accounts , odds, blah blah . It may as well be quantum mechanics!
I need the money for a specific reason so I need to get to grips with it all and get started. I am an intelligent person, I just need to persevere.
I would really appreciate some very basic advice. I know about OddsMonkey and other sites. I have watched the videos and understand the basic concept, but then I am lost. I don't want to make mistakes and lose money.
Help!

I'm gutted as have lost nearly £16 with a stupid mistake! I misread the instructions for the Paddy Power bet and backed/layed using the TP calculator as a 'Normal' bet not 'Free bet SNR', which as the back bet won, meant I made a loss of £1.48 rather than the intended profit of £14.26 (see attached pics). Gutted but lesson learnt. Profits are now down to £86. I know its still good going for 6 days 'work' but I'm annoyed with myself!

@Ollivander84, so Fulham lost today. What do I do now in Smarkets please (the risk free £50 offer).

Ok, you should see a £10 admin credit appear in Smarkets soon
Then just do the same again for the next 4 Fulham games

Golden0ldie · 12/01/2019 22:21

Oh that’s really bad luck jjemima - I had a free bet part of a risk free bet the other day, think it was a £30 one. Backed and layed ... or so I thought. It was only blooming partially laid so instead of a £16 profit on the risk free bet, I was down to £1.65. Could have been worse but was really kicking myself.

Right ... Smarkets. I have backed my team at Smarkets and laid at Betfair. The T&C’s state that you must not place any other backs or lays on any market involving the game. Am I safe to assume that is at Smarkets only and I can back at another bookie and lay at Betfair? I sort of know that’s right but need comfirmation!!

Gammeldragz · 12/01/2019 22:57

@Golden0ldie yes that's right.

£63 profit today, £12 on sports (2 price boosts and a free bet) the rest on casino. Would have been another £3.5 on sports but I punted a £5 free bet on a price boost as all my liability was tied up in the exchange. Should have just waited of course, as it inevitably lost.

Gammeldragz · 12/01/2019 23:01

@Fluffycloudland77 see my long post on page 5.

So I am considering the WH Golden Goal offer this afternoon on the Tottenham v. Man U. match (TP describes it as a 1up). I've watched the videos on backing and laying 2ups and I think I understand the theory. However, I am anxious as this feels a bit like real betting with real losses (is it?). If I bet on T to score first and they do then Man U. win, I'm in the money with both bookmaker and exchange. However any other scenario then I have a (albeit small) loss. I can understand how this all pans out if you're doing lots of 2ups in a World Cup competition or similar, but otherwise it just feels a bit like (low risk) betting?

jjemimapuddleduck · 13/01/2019 09:35

Any advice appreciated. Are all/some reloads like this? If you do enough, youll end up in profit but they are all mostly low risk not guaranteed profit?

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/01/2019 09:41

Not all of them but people on Oddsmonkey count 2up as a good earner, you’ll only be risking 50p?.

jjemimapuddleduck · 13/01/2019 09:46

I risked £2 in the end (haven't signed up for OM yet).

It does feel like I am hoping for a certain outcome though whereas usually it doesn't matter (other than hoping the Exchange win so I don't have to put yet more money in!).

coppermine · 13/01/2019 13:29

I've just backed and layed Tottenham for the WH golden goal offer. I'm still not entirely sure on what I will win/lose on the various outcomes. I'm following the thread on the teamprofit Facebook group so hoping it will become clearer.

There doesn't seem a way to guarantee profit so that must mean low risk.

coppermine · 13/01/2019 13:31

For anyone reading and new to match betting, team profit have just started a beginners Facebook group which will probably be better to follow so not over loaded with the more complex stuff

jjemimapuddleduck · 13/01/2019 14:00

Yes that's the conclusion I came to @coppermine! If T score first then Man. U. win then we will be quids in, otherwise a small loss (£2.03 for me as I bet £32).

I don't have FB but thanks for the heads up!

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/01/2019 14:19

I ACTUALLY won something on a slot. It was totesport, deposit £5 and wager 5 spins. Refund if you lose and I won £18.

I did an offer on Quinnbet, bet on spurs/Man Utd and get 5 free spins. 40p qualifying loss.

Golden0ldie · 13/01/2019 16:45

Omg ... I’m trying the w hill golden goal too and a, bloody comfused. I think my first mistake has been the basic maths to stsrt because I came up with a figure of £26 for my stake but having reviewed that think I did that for MU to win, not Spurs who I hve backed to win. Oops.

Anyway, it’s on a WH and layed at exchange. If Spurs score first, does that mean laying MU at figures given in early payout calc?

Fun!

coppermine · 13/01/2019 16:53

jjemima from what I understand, if Spurs do score first then you can lock in a profit by placing another (back) bet on the exchange using the early pay out calculator. I've got everything ready to do this if it happens. If you don't do this, then you still risk losing the £2 if they win, but if they lose the profit will be higher than if you locked in.

That's how I understand it anyway! This is my most complex offer so far 😬

WhatNow40 · 13/01/2019 17:00

I had to skip this WH offer, I'm to tired to understand WTF it is all about and dyslexic so have to be top of my game to do these!

Golden0ldie · 13/01/2019 17:16

Oh no ".. MU have scored. That’s game over and a loss, isn’t it? Only £1.06 but I was looking forward to a win. Booo hoooo!

coppermine · 13/01/2019 17:16

@jjemimapuddleduck arrgghhh we're out!!! Booooo

Golden0ldie · 13/01/2019 17:17

It’s just a normal back and lay now?

Coppermine · 13/01/2019 17:18

Yes Golden we're out. Typical. At least I don't need to watch the whole game now haha

Golden0ldie · 13/01/2019 18:47

Gubbed by Coral. Wail. Raging. They were great. Shouldn’t have done the bets for goals today. Or was it the bet club last week that did it? Who knows. I have been consistent with them ... horses and a little football. Have nearly £100 sitting with them too ready for bet club for the next few weeks. Off to quietly sob in a corner!

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/01/2019 19:11

Arb it. Casino should still be ok.

EhlanaOfElenia · 13/01/2019 19:33

Oh no Goldie! Coral are one of the good ones. Did they notify you or have you just stopped receiving offers?

jjemimapuddleduck · 14/01/2019 17:01

Thanks @coppermine! I obviously didn't get as far as the early payout explanations! I was considering doing the Paddy Power 2up for the Man City Wolves game tonight but I'm a bit scared. Attached is the offer. I am not really getting the early payout/place a new bet on the Exchange if your team goes 2up. Off to read it again! Any help appreciated.
