I know there have been numerous threads on this topic, but I have struggled to understand how to go about getting started. The more I read about it the more overwhelmed I become. Spreadsheets, separate bank accounts , odds, blah blah . It may as well be quantum mechanics!
I need the money for a specific reason so I need to get to grips with it all and get started. I am an intelligent person, I just need to persevere.
I would really appreciate some very basic advice. I know about OddsMonkey and other sites. I have watched the videos and understand the basic concept, but then I am lost. I don't want to make mistakes and lose money.
Help!

Does anyone know if Betfred normally take the full 48hrs to credit a free bed after the trigger bet has settled?

jjemimapuddleduck · 14/01/2019 18:33

Talking to myself, notice decided against it I think as the odds for Man City winning are too low at 1.17. All that effort and if Man City go 2 up then go on to win, I could follow instructions and back an exchange bet for the grand total of 5p or so profit (depending on new back odds on the exchange). Obviously if Man City go 2 up then Wolves go on to win, I'd be quids in though hmmmm!

Have a read of this, I found it useful. If they go 2 up, I think you can either cash out or place another back bet. I can't get it straight in my head why yet but I think it you just follow the steps then it may make more sense as we do them.

I won't get chance to do any tonight

jjemimapuddleduck · 14/01/2019 18:35

Sorry @thatduck, didn't see you there! Mine was credited the following day I think & I got an email, less than 24 hours.

Correction to above post, first line, should read *I've decided

jjemimapuddleduck · 14/01/2019 18:43

Thanks @Coppermine - I can't see that post as I'm not an OM member, but that's my understanding too. According to TP tutorial, it's not worth doing unless the original odds are more than 1.7 as they will then drop too low when placing back bet on the exchange. It's an awful lot of work to potentially make a small loss/break even/tiny profit with only a tiny possibility of back and lay paying out (1.5% of games that went 2up resulted in other team eventually winning last season).

jjemimapuddleduck · 14/01/2019 18:45

Christ, I'm at I'm not a proper better! My last 10 bets have won on the exchange!

jjemimapuddleduck · 14/01/2019 18:45

*I'm glad

Golden0ldie · 14/01/2019 19:47

That’s great jjemima.

I’ve just tied up all but £15 of my betfair money on the match tonight using a £50 free bet at bookie. Am very very nervous. Will make 38.93 out of it but clearly want to lose at bookie!!

Gammeldragz · 14/01/2019 22:42

Just wanted the say 2up is not a road I'm ready for yet and I've been doing this since August. It doesn't come around often so you need to be getting on several matches a day, with QL of 50p or less and even then you can have a long run of none coming in that soon makes a dent in the profits. Plus it's so fiddly, with having to sit around following the match and being ready to calculate rapidly changing odds.

PrivateDoor · 15/01/2019 10:03

Just catching up, did you guys not get the scratch card offer with WH for bet £10 get £5 free bet? If so this should have offset your QL and actually given you a profit (talking about those annoyed they missed out on the golden goal).

That duck - it is usually the next day, it normally says in the T&C when it will be credited

WhatNow40 · 15/01/2019 10:49

Who's doing the offer with Huddersfield? I signed up to the same deal and now I can't remember which bookie it was! Blush

Ollivander84 · 15/01/2019 22:29

I'm out of liability Grin too many bets on!

Golden0ldie · 15/01/2019 22:52

What are you doing Ollivander - is it sign ups or reloads? I’ve nothing on. Have opened a 138 account and deposited money but can’t find a match with a decent return. Need to get back to sign ups but my Coral gubbing has made me wary of reloads. There are some okay offers on Australian open.

thatduck · 15/01/2019 23:30

Does anyone know if the smarkets offer needs a bet on all of the 1st 5 matches after you sign up of could I skip the 1st while I build up enough liability to cover my Betfair lay bet

thatduck · 15/01/2019 23:39

Actually, do I need to be getting on my chosen team to win or can I bet the draw?

FreckledLeopard · 15/01/2019 23:49

Re: Smarkets sign up - it doesn't have to be consecutive games. I took a week or so out if I recall. In terms of the draw - check the Ts&Cs but I think it's any bet at all from any market so long as 'your' team is playing, so draw should be fine. Remember to set bonus retention to 100% on calculator (assuming you're using risk free calculator) as it's a cash refund!

jjemimapuddleduck · 16/01/2019 07:06

For the Smarkets welcome offer, think it has to be a PL match though (not FA cup).

I made £13+ from Ladbrokes FB yesterday (taking into account QL from TB and commission). I've got loads set up to go over the weekend and nearly £300 tied up from Exchange. Not all of it will make money, some are TB so I could do with setting up more but I'm down to £1.xx in the Exchange! As I'm waiting for funds to credit, I've no more cash to throw at this for a few days. I can't wait to have a large Exchange balance!

I'm liking the Asian Cup just now (football), some nice close odds.

jjemimapuddleduck · 16/01/2019 07:07

Profit is now £122 in 9 days.

Ollivander84 · 16/01/2019 07:35

@Golden0ldie one is a last sign up, the rest are reloads and bet clubs

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/01/2019 09:14

I won a free £1 bet on a bwin scratchcard. 89p profit.

Tiredmummyof3 · 16/01/2019 09:26

Has anyone any experience of the horse offers? I can do the risk free ones but haven't dabbled in the extra places yet?
Keep hearing Cheltenham is amazing for big profits!

Coppermine · 16/01/2019 09:32

Tiredmummy I've seen Cheltenham being talked about on the TP Facebook group. People are taking days off work for it! Apparently day 1 is the best for offers if you can't do the whole thing. I've not done specific horse offers yet though. Just used them for occasional trigger and free bets. I should probably try and do some though to get some practice in!

Tiredmummyof3 · 16/01/2019 09:46

Yes that's what I've been reading! I work in a school so time off isn't an option but hoping it doesn't hinder me!

Gammeldragz · 16/01/2019 11:59

I definitely need to earn extra bits for Cheltenham, I haven't tried the more advanced horse stuff yet.

Ollivander84 · 16/01/2019 12:18

Unibet had loads of profit boosts hidden in my bonuses so might be worth checking
