I know there have been numerous threads on this topic, but I have struggled to understand how to go about getting started. The more I read about it the more overwhelmed I become. Spreadsheets, separate bank accounts , odds, blah blah . It may as well be quantum mechanics!
I need the money for a specific reason so I need to get to grips with it all and get started. I am an intelligent person, I just need to persevere.
I would really appreciate some very basic advice. I know about OddsMonkey and other sites. I have watched the videos and understand the basic concept, but then I am lost. I don't want to make mistakes and lose money.
Help!

Great news! I am just trying to find the time to look at it all again.

I used save the student guide and it helped me a lot, been doing it a few weeks now

EhlanaOfElenia · 21/12/2018 15:03

I did this awhile ago, and have kept meaning to go back to it. I left all my money in the accounts, so that I could do it without it 'costing' me anything.

I really need to get this going again as I desperately need to generate a consistent amount of money to cover the shortfall in income I am facing in the new year.

Posting to give myself a kick up the backside, and to just DO IT!

EhlanaOfElenia · 21/12/2018 15:04

And just as I posted this I got a Paddy offer email flash on my screen... I WILL DO THIS!!!

orchidsundertrees · 21/12/2018 16:05

I find Odds Monkey a bit easier to understand. Which sites are most people using? I might sign up to Bonus Bagging as I really need to be walked through it initially. The logistics just get overwhelming. I am not a natural numbers person.

Bonus Bagging looks really good! I'm quite tempted to try that one too.

We can all do this!

Ollivander84 · 22/12/2018 10:00

I have about 7 bets on today Blush

Santasonmynaughtylist · 22/12/2018 10:30

Nogoodnickname · 22/12/2018 22:14

I started doing matched betting a couple of weeks ago and I’m about £200 in profit. It did take me a little while to get my head round how to do it but it’s really easy now,I’ve also signed up to Oddsmonkey which I find a godsend especially in the beginning when trying to find matches to bet on. Although today I did somehow manage to make a mistake-I thought I’d placed a qualifying bet on Blackburn v Norwich to draw then layed it on Smarkets only to find i’d Backed Derby v Bristol in the bookies, luckily both matches ended in a draw so instead of losing the 29p I was expecting to for the qualifying bet I ended up making a profit of £24 from my mistake although if it had lost at the bookies I would’ve lost a lot more than 29p for that trigger bet :/

Ollivander84 · 22/12/2018 22:22

I've just signed up to the big one... bet365!

orchidsundertrees · 22/12/2018 22:27

Do you have to give your mobile number etc to Betfair? I really don't want to give my date of birth and mobile number.

OP posts:
Ollivander84 · 22/12/2018 22:28

I think so. They need your DOB to show you're over 18..

orchidsundertrees · 22/12/2018 22:35

Don't want to be bombarded with texts etc!

OP posts:
Ollivander84 · 22/12/2018 22:39

I've not had any off Betfair (texts)
Most sites you can opt out of marketing, I tend to allow emails (so you get promos!) and block texts

themoomoo · 24/12/2018 16:12

I really can't reccommend Profit accumulator enough.
It talks you through everything and you do get very very quick with practise.
2.5 hyears and I'm over £90K up.
It's been amazing :-))

HollowTalk · 24/12/2018 16:18

£90K!!!!

Otterses · 24/12/2018 18:42

Themoomoo Shock !

Ollivander84 · 24/12/2018 20:10

Wow! I can only dream Grin
Got a bit carried away and have 7 bets on for Boxing Day

Otterses · 27/12/2018 21:34

Still ploughing ahead Grin got 3 qualifying bets pending.

How's everyone else getting on?

Nogoodnickname · 27/12/2018 21:56

I’ve made just over £39 in free bets yesterday so good day all round, just waiting on a £20 free bet to come back from SportPesa and looking at which bookies to do my next sign up with. How are you finding things now with it Otter?

Ollivander84 · 27/12/2018 22:17

Rinsed my liability on Boxing Day Grin
Just using my free bets on bet 365 at the minute

Nogoodnickname · 27/12/2018 22:34

I’ve been doing this for a couple of weeks when I’ve had the time but still not brave enough to do the bet365 one. Let us know how you go with that one Ollivander x

Ollivander84 · 27/12/2018 22:39

I've split it Smile so deposited £100, did 2 x £50 qualifying bets
I've used £40 bet credits for my first one as that meant my liability was £327 but will return £32

Nogoodnickname · 27/12/2018 23:06

I think I’ll have to do the bet365 one next. Some of my free bets were in the bookies so planning on putting them into Smarkets once in my bank account so I’ll have about £390 in Smarkets account so I’m sure that will be sufficient enough to do the bet365.

I’m finding it kind of funny how I’m keeping a check on scores hoping it will go in my exchanges favour!

DH still has no idea I’m doing this but he is working in Kuwait for the next year so I’m hoping to surprise him with a nice profit Grin

Nogoodnickname · 27/12/2018 23:06

*Won in the bookies
