I know there have been numerous threads on this topic, but I have struggled to understand how to go about getting started. The more I read about it the more overwhelmed I become. Spreadsheets, separate bank accounts , odds, blah blah . It may as well be quantum mechanics!
I need the money for a specific reason so I need to get to grips with it all and get started. I am an intelligent person, I just need to persevere.
I would really appreciate some very basic advice. I know about OddsMonkey and other sites. I have watched the videos and understand the basic concept, but then I am lost. I don't want to make mistakes and lose money.
Help!

Ok, so which numpty has been clicking through to the Smarkets website via the Oddsmatcher on OM and not using the integrated tool (but thought she was)?!?! Meaning I've been paying 2% commission on ALL my bets over the last 4/5 weeks AND the £17.99 fee, aarrggghhh! What a fool!!! I emailed Smarkets earlier and got a very nice email explaining my mistake.

Golden0ldie · 01/03/2019 17:09

thefavourite ... WHAT??? I click through OM and always pay 2%. Was it a sign-up offer or something.

Got gubbed by Betway. And with Cheltenham around the corner. Sob.

Okay perps, on TP fb page. Sign up to Marathon Bet and place £1 on Man City to beat Bournemouth tomorrow and you get odds of 28/1 on that £1 bet. There is a code to use at deposit. Citywin I think. Iwas going to just punt it but played safe and locked in around £17 plus profit regardless of score.

Also, Race Bets have a sign up offer for Cheltenham. Place £20 on leading trainer or jockey market and get a £10 free bet for each race they win. Need to look more closely at that first but sounds good. Not much liquidity to lay the £20 atm and longer odds but maybe closer to the time. Take Nicky Henderson, Gordon Elliott or Willie Mullins and fingers crossed fir a few winners. Could be a lucrative one.

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/03/2019 18:20

Could you check the marathon bet deposit code please? I’m not on fb.

The Smarkets thing has updated several times, you need to login and re-register for it. The emails might be in your spam folder.

Golden0ldie · 01/03/2019 19:04

Fluffy. Pic attached. If you want to lock in profit, I was advised to use the win bonus calculator. The bonus is paid as free bets. I was able to pull that page up by googling last night - if you can find it, you can see the terms and conditions.

Fairy, that’s amazing, thank you for sharing. I haven’t a clue about how to do bingo despite watching the tutorials! Will have to get onto it.

OM members pay 0% commission on bets if they have opted in and place their initial integrated bet. I'd opted in, but was doing the integration all wrong - my fault so no refund due!

Yes please check the Marathon bet code, I'm not on Fbook. I'd really appreciate it, thanks!

I can't keep up with all the offers at the moment, it's bonkers. I keep finding out about new ones. Golden goal again tomorrow so need to do my calculations and bets for that tonight.

thefavourite · 01/03/2019 19:11

Cross post, thanks @Golden0ldie! What the win bonus calculator please, is that on OM?

coppermine · 01/03/2019 19:15

I think the Marathon promo has been pulled.

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/03/2019 19:19

Marvellous.

Golden0ldie · 01/03/2019 23:00

Copper, are you sure? I’m certain I read that their live chat said it runs until tomorrow.

Guys, get over to OddsChecker and use the links in the banner for similar offers on MansionBet and LV. Though the Mansion Bet link doesn’t work ... shall update if I suss that out!

coppermine · 02/03/2019 12:59

Bloody typical, locked in profit for the GG by backing Arsenal then they actually go and get a 1up early in the game when I could have locked in even bigger profit (daren't check exactly how much!). Oh well, long term locking in small profits is better than gambling on possibly locking in bigger profits.

Fairyliz · 02/03/2019 15:23

Coppermine stay strong better for regular small amounts than risking it on big profits.
I am on some casino sites and log in to do the daily free games. I often win small amounts from 20p to £7.50 and the temptation is just to use them on a few spins. However its surprising how quickly the small amounts mount up and I withdraw them when they get to £5 and make about £40 per month this way.
Everyone had the email from Betway? Money back as a free bet on the first and last race every day at Cheltenham if your horse doesn't win. (Max £10 per bet). I am not actually sure how long Cheltenham is on for but I assume five days? So a possible £70 - £80 profit.

Golden0ldie · 02/03/2019 17:22

Fairy, Cheltenham is 4 days, the Tuesday to Friday.

I tried to withdraw my remaining £5 from Betway but minimum withdrawl is £10. So I found a close match on football and tried to back it. Stake restricted to £4.28. Buggers! So I deposted £10 and withdrew £15. 😂

I realky must read up on and try the casino you mentioned Fairy. I spent hours at the kitchen table today and think I have a wee profit and hopefully some free bets lined up. Did the lock in on GG and got £5.50 odd from it but hapoy to choose one method and not let qualifying losses add up. Put £1 on Arsenal at 50/1 in the MarathonBet new customer offer. Almost layed locking in £23 when they were 1-0 up but got distracted. Kicking myself, it would have been an easy £23!

DonkeyScramble · 02/03/2019 18:39

Has anyone dabbled with extra places horse betting? I did 3 today and made a loss each time even though a horse won one of the races. I just don't get it. Do you only make a profit if the horse comes in the extra place?

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/03/2019 18:42

Yes, they have to come in on the extra place.

dalecooperscoffeecup · 03/03/2019 08:00

Read the thread. Going to give this a go, once the money comes through from bits I've sold and start with watching all the videos.

ChakiraChakra · 03/03/2019 11:03

Ooh good pro tip abut depositing to withdraw!

I'm having a love hate relationship with betway myself, their stupid using your bonus as a % of deposit, and winning £160 to them giving me no option but to withdraw and lose the bonus I couldn't use 😂

It came good when they sent me a £2 free bet on virtuals which won on THE most improbable horse race I've ever seen (!) and thanks to matched betting turned into a £6 profit thank fuck it didn't win to them again 😁

thefavourite · 03/03/2019 13:09

Matched betting tips for today - offers are thick and fast at the moment and I am raking it in. Here's a few offers if you need some inspiration:-

Betting offers:-

  • £10 TB on Befair Exchange on Eve v. Luv game and get a £5 FB to use on an ACCA on the Sportsbook
  • £10 inplay TB Betfred on Eve. v. Liv. for £5 FB
  • William Hill scratchcard - £10 TB on basketball for £5 FB (this is credited instantly and I used to back/lay Fulham for nearly £4 profit.
  • betway - £5 TB on #betyourway on Eve. v. Liv. Can punt this as probably can't lay it as you'll get a £10 FB so even if your bet doesn't win, you are still £2.50 in profit

Casino tips for today:-

  • Betfair Casino - wager £5 on Sacred Stones = 5 free spins
  • Moplay -spin the wheel for the chance to win free spins (I won 20 spins yesterday which made 70p and 10 spins today which will be available this evening)
  • William Hill - 5 free spins on Pirates game
  • Paddy Power - free spins for wagering on Pirates game (I won £13.98 on this today and still have 10 free spins to be credited tomorrow)
-Paddy Power - free spins for wagering on Wonder Woman

I know there are many more but hope these some people!

ChakiraChakra · 03/03/2019 14:45

There are sooooo many offers on today and I need to not do any because after I've been awarded and played through all my free bets tomorrow I need to withdraw it all (holiday spends) 😭 😂 proper first world problem! 😁

Golden0ldie · 03/03/2019 15:38

thefavourite, at the risk of sounding stupid, I just googled Football Index and it seems to be buying and trading footballers rather than betting. Can you please explain this one to me?

I had 66p in Fansbet, couldn’t withdraw pennies so stuck it on slots and had £8 to withdraw!

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/03/2019 15:48

I won £3.50 off the William hill game.

thefavourite · 03/03/2019 15:53

Hi @Golden0ldie! Well done on Fansbet win! Can you now withdraw your £8?

Yes, it's buying (fake) shares in football players. Their value goes up and down. I deposited £30, bought 10 shares in one random player whose value was exactly £3.00 per share then emailed FI 48 hours later to get my £50 credited. This was done within 24 hours and I bought £50 worth more shares so I don't get gubbed (in case they have another offer). My shares are worth a few pence more than I bought them but I will lose a few pence on each share when I sell them so should probably break even on buying/selling value but £50 or so up! I'm planning to sell and withdraw my £80 or so tomorrow.

Golden0ldie · 03/03/2019 18:46

thefavourite, shall check it out thank you. And yes, I withdrew my £8 from Fansbet!

A question for casino people. Had an email from BGO offering 25 free spins on a 96.4%,( high variance slot. No wagering and no need to stake own money. Winnings paid as cash. Spins value is 10p each. Is it worth a shot taking into account deposit and withdrawal fees with BGO?

thefavourite · 03/03/2019 20:06

Could you give it a go and then see how much you win? See if you win enough for it to be worth it? I'm not familiar with BGO deposit and withdrawing fees though...

DonkeyScramble · 03/03/2019 20:15

With BGO you should only withdraw every few offers to limit the fees. They charge for deposits too and overall I'm up with them but the last few offers haven't been worth it once fees are taken into account.
