I know there have been numerous threads on this topic, but I have struggled to understand how to go about getting started. The more I read about it the more overwhelmed I become. Spreadsheets, separate bank accounts , odds, blah blah . It may as well be quantum mechanics!
I need the money for a specific reason so I need to get to grips with it all and get started. I am an intelligent person, I just need to persevere.
I would really appreciate some very basic advice. I know about OddsMonkey and other sites. I have watched the videos and understand the basic concept, but then I am lost. I don't want to make mistakes and lose money.
Help!

Thanks @NotDavidTennant - when you say the lay bet should have been refunded, do you mean Betfair have done something wrong by not refunding it? Or it’s my fault for not laying it correctly? So I know for future.

Thanks so much for your help

Just heard Mecca have pulled the £2.50 room altogether 😫😫😫

Best strategy for BOB is the £1.50 room. Opens later, not sure what time though.

Anyway play £1.50 at a time. If you win, stop playing and you will have a little profit. If you don't win, keep playing until you've spent £10 (7 plays is £10.50). You don't really want to go higher than that because sometimes the house prize is split and if you win on your last play then you may win less than £10 so you will lose money.

If you play 7 times and get no win then tomorrow you can enter a code in the bonus section and you will get today's money back to play again.

It's not worth doing the smaller rooms as the prize may not cover the minimum £10 spend for the refund if you win in the last few plays.

Hi, I got into match betting two weeks ago after seeing this thread! Spent several hours reading up and joined oddsmonkey. Made £420 so far, which I’m bloody delighted with!

Been playing BOB since Sunday and haven’t won a thing yet! I believe the £1.50 room opens at 5 today for the pp up thread asking. Such a shame about the £2.50 room though, reckon all that MB chat nailed the coffin Hmm

NotDavidTennant · 08/02/2019 15:52

@SmugglingSeaweed Sorry just double checked the Betfair rules and what I just told you was wrong. Betfair includes overtime. See the Betfair rules here:

"Who will win this match? This market includes overtime. At the start of play all unmatched bets will be cancelled and the market turned in-play. Please note that this market will not be actively managed, therefore it is the responsibility of all users to manage their in-play positions."

ChakiraChakra · 08/02/2019 16:51

Bob is open!

Givemestrengthorgin · 08/02/2019 17:03

Re Mecca BOB...is the min win usually over £10? Or is there a chance i could win less than £10 and therefore make a loss as I wouldn't qualify for a refund on that days stakes?
Thanks.

ChakiraChakra · 08/02/2019 17:07

It's £12 at the mo, started at 8. £2.50 room allegedly opens at 8-11pm

ChakiraChakra · 08/02/2019 17:12

Now next Friday. I'm reporting live from the bingo room! 😂

In other news I'm £28 up just now so I'm happy :D

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/02/2019 17:36

Give It’s possible to be down one night but long term it should even out.

I’m hoping they banned the fuckers who got the £2.50 room pulled.

jjemimapuddleduck · 08/02/2019 18:06

Can you buy advance tickets for BOB if you can't be online?

SmugglingSeaweed · 08/02/2019 18:25

Thank you so much @NotDavidTennant. I shall scrupulously read the rules of each bet I lay now, I’ve never read that on BF...

ChakiraChakra · 08/02/2019 18:29

Just cashed out £92 in prior at Mecca bingo! 😯😁

ChakiraChakra · 08/02/2019 18:31

Profit not prior, obv...

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/02/2019 18:55

Brilliant.

Bob bingo is now reduced on player size, therefore prize is lower. You just need to check the rooms at 25 before you buy.

Coppermine · 08/02/2019 20:02

@jjemimapuddleduck yes you can, but it's not ideal because if an early game wins then the ones that follow are wasted money. Also if they cancel any of the scheduled games (not enough players, or like they did with 2.50 rooms) then you will get a refund on those games but will still need to spend min £10 to get refund if you don't win on others.

GardeningWithDynamite · 08/02/2019 23:48

I still haven't opened an account yet but I can see the scheduled BOB games on the mecca site - they all seem to be 50p games with £4.50 or £4 prize. Am I just looking in the wrong place?

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/02/2019 08:01

No, they’ve shut the £2.50 room and are limiting players to 10 to reduce the jackpot.

There’s still absolute cocks bragging about team profit, profit accumulator, odds monkey, profit maximiser et al, netmums & calling all women “sandwich makers”.

It’s embarrasing to watch and if I ran Mecca bingo I’d shut the room too.

They just don’t know when to stop to the point you wonder if they have some sort of problem.

ArtisanPopcorn · 09/02/2019 09:52

Can I ask another question?

I've just started the smarkets bit on profit accumulator. I've done the first bet and it says you're supposed to bet on the next 4 games your chosen team is in.

Do I have to wait for each game to finish before betting on the next game or do I do all of them now? What if the odds aren't well matched for my teams games? I'm always confused!

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/02/2019 10:00

I’d keep checking to see how the odds are matching, they should get closer as the kick off approaches.

ArtisanPopcorn · 09/02/2019 10:06

Thank you! Does the first bet need to have settled first though? Do I need to bet another £10 each time?

I need an idiot's guide to explain the idiot's guide! Blush

ArtisanPopcorn · 09/02/2019 10:28

I can't even find my teams other matches on Smarkets. Can you not place bets until nearer the match?

princesseugenie · 09/02/2019 10:50

Anyone started with mike Cruickshank?
Is his system really better than others?

hartha · 09/02/2019 12:16

Morning! Just wanted to come on and thank everyone who answered my questions last week- no matter how stupid they seemed! By tomorrow I'll be £120 up and still have plenty of welcome offers to complete! Cheers!

DonkeyScramble · 09/02/2019 12:16

Artisan- you need to wait for each match to settle as if you lose on smarkets (where you backed the team), they refund your £10. You can repeat this a further 4 times for that same team

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/02/2019 20:27

Won £10 bingo.
