I know there have been numerous threads on this topic, but I have struggled to understand how to go about getting started. The more I read about it the more overwhelmed I become. Spreadsheets, separate bank accounts , odds, blah blah . It may as well be quantum mechanics!
I need the money for a specific reason so I need to get to grips with it all and get started. I am an intelligent person, I just need to persevere.
I would really appreciate some very basic advice. I know about OddsMonkey and other sites. I have watched the videos and understand the basic concept, but then I am lost. I don't want to make mistakes and lose money.
Help!

Ah yeah I do that prize wheel and the WH one got me £10 today! I do double bubble on starspins Grin

Ollivander84 · 29/01/2019 23:23

Fuck I just won £50 on jackpot joy bingo

ChakiraChakra · 30/01/2019 00:14

You is on a roll!!

jjemimapuddleduck · 30/01/2019 13:25

Well done Ollivander84! I did the £10/£10 free Heart Bingo offer last night and lost the whole lot.

@hartha, what was the outcome of your bet? Did you end up in profit?

hartha · 30/01/2019 15:55

Hi jjemima!

Yes I did! I'm by about £6 something. Thank you for all the advice. I'm going to sign up to another site this evening and have another go. I expect I'll be back for more help! I'm just trying to take it slowly and get my head around is so that I don't make any costly mistakes. Think then I might look at signing up to one of the sites you mentioned!!

jjemimapuddleduck · 30/01/2019 18:00

@hartha, great news, well done!

@Golden0ldie, I signed up to V8 today, gosh that's a crapply built website! I found an ACCA via OddsMonkey lay sequentially calculator and backed my bet and layed the first one (Saturday afternoon). This is all new to me. I've backed and layed ACCAs before but always via ones that are set up as a lay bet already on Smarkets so you set up the bet and either the whole thing wins (unlikely) or you win on the Exchange. Its a bit frightening if the odds go bonkers isn't it! A £25 FB was too good to pass up though.

I think I'm going to try and do the 3 x £10 inplay bets for a £10 FB tonight on Betfred. I'm not doing any TB to get £5 FB now, it just doesn't seem worth the hassle and the money tied up in the Exchange to make £2.50.

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/01/2019 18:03

I won £207 on bwin free spins. Got to wager it through to the value of £7k.

Great 🤦🏻‍♀️

jjemimapuddleduck · 30/01/2019 18:15

P.S. I was more worried about your bet than my own last night @hartha!

Good luck with that Fluffy!

Ollivander84 · 30/01/2019 18:20

I've got a load of 2ups on tonight Smile

Golden0ldie · 30/01/2019 18:49

jjemima, yes the problem with the lay sequentially ACCAs is that you’re potentially stuffed if the lay odds move before the previous match finishes. I was down a hefty £16.24 last night but with a £25 fb will cover it. I only have one newbie acca offer left but am nervous now. Made the mistake of looking at the odds during the match last night. Had I held my nerve I would have been £48 in profit! Still, if I had it could easily have gone the other way. I asked for help on the OM forum and one of the mods said just to lay and take the hit.

My exchanges are all but empty - boo. Have two free bets tonight and would like to do the Betfred offer but not sure I have enough in bank to shore up exchanges and deposit £30 in Betfred. Need to withdraw from bookies.

Well done on the casino wins - mind, 2k wagering is a bit much!

jjemimapuddleduck · 30/01/2019 18:52

Talk me through 2ups please Ollivander, are they low risk like Golden Goal? Is the theory that if you do enough of them you'll get a big win every so often covering the qualifying losses and making a profit?

Do you cash out if your team goes 2up?

Ollivander84 · 30/01/2019 18:57

@jjemimapuddleduck exactly the same as golden goal but 2 goals instead of 1! And yes but best to cash out when it's maybe 2-1 or 2-2 to make more profit

hartha · 30/01/2019 20:34

Please can someone explain liability to me again. I signed up tonight to another site - bet £10 and get £30 free bets. So it was a TB. I bet with odds of 1.15 on the back bet and 1.19 on the lay bet. Lay was £9.66. Liability is £1.84. Over all profit is -£0.34. That just doesn't make sense to me!!!!! Only £1.84 has gone out of my exchange account?
If my back bet wins I get £11.50 - £??? = ???
If my lay bet wins I get £11.50 - £10.00 = £1.50

Please can someone fill in the blanks and explain as if I was a child?!?!

hartha · 30/01/2019 20:48

Annnnnnd the qualifying odds were wrong so I need to do it all again to get my free bets! I feel like quitting whilst I'm still slightly ahead!

Ollivander84 · 30/01/2019 21:25

Breathe Smile
Your first bet is your qualifying one. So odds (check t&c) keep small and close to lose as little as possible. Expect to lose a few pence on the qualifying bet

Then you get your free bet. Pick bigger odds but still close together. That's where your profit comes from, always from your free bet

Are you using the calculator?

hartha · 30/01/2019 21:43

Yeah I used the calculator but got the qualifying odds wrong... not a problem, I shouldn't lose too much and can place the qualifying bet again (I checked this). But. The liability thing I am not getting. It makes no sense to me!

Johnluthersvolvo · 30/01/2019 22:06

I have just started and placed two X £5 free bets. I don't really get the liability thing either, but I just put the odds into the team profit calculator and do what it says! I have made a fiver Smile

Ollivander84 · 30/01/2019 22:08

The liability is basically "I am liable for this and can afford to pay it" like a guarantee

SmugglingSeaweed · 30/01/2019 22:39

what does it mean when it says the money must be wagered x amount of times? I’ve got a free casino bonus from unibet but haven’t a clue how to use it!

MB generally has been going pretty well. I’ve only made one small mistake where I forgot to put on the lay bet for a TB, losing about £6. Overall I’m £80 up since Sunday so not too bad for a complete novice.

The explanations here have helped a lot too.

Glad everyone else is doing well too Smile

Ollivander84 · 30/01/2019 22:59

Wagering means you need to play with it
So win £1 but it needs to be wagered (played with) x 10. So £10

SmugglingSeaweed · 31/01/2019 08:02

Thanks Ollivander. So if I played the £20 bonus on slots, and the wagering required is 35x - I have to spin 35 times to unlock the bonus? It just doesn’t make any sense because then I could spin 35 x 25p which seems too easy.

SmugglingSeaweed · 31/01/2019 08:04

Ah, I’ve just re-read your explanation. 35x wagering on £20 means wagering of £700. Nothing to do with how many spins Blush

I’m not sure I’ll get £700 out of 20 quid!

Thanks again

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/01/2019 08:58

Could be worse Seaweed, I’ve got wagering of £7k on a £200 win. I will bust out.

ThePerfect1IThinkNot · 31/01/2019 11:06

I tend to keep clear of anything where wagering is above 10x, there is usually something you can do that gives you a better return for your time!

Givemestrengthorgin · 31/01/2019 23:48

Can I join you please? Currently trying to get my head round the mechanics of match betting and I've just placed my first bet! Very nervous and I'm hoping I've done it correctly. I get confused about how to be sure I am placing the correct bets over the two sites to make sure I've got myself covered. I've never bet before and the terminology is new. This is a very helpful board and I've watched the team profit videos. The match is on Saturday, exciting!
