Anti MLM/ Network marketing thread NUMBER 43!!

Spongebobette · 29/09/2018 18:17

This is the 43rd thread in a long series about the dangers of network marketing/ MLMs such as Forever Living, Ariix, NuSkin, Arbonne, Younique, TS Life, and MANY MANY more!
Posts here will give examples of the lies told by 'top bots' who portray luxury lifestyles in order to lure in new victims and of the other techniques and brainwashing used by MLMs
Over 90% of people who join an MLM end up LOSING money. Always bear that in mind when considering paying money to join!

Brokebot has disappeared

SSDGM · 30/09/2018 14:24

So has his partner’s profile.

SSDGM · 30/09/2018 14:25

Apologies. Found it. Nothing on there though.

FleeBee · 30/09/2018 18:19

Yes tropic is MLM a school run mum does this. As well as a normal full time job.
I've seen lots of beauty/hairdresser folks sign up

Hunbot · 30/09/2018 18:30

Castle has a post up - without my pro planner I couldn't... Now all the huns have put things like live my dream Confused.

So anti mlmers over to you. Without my pro planner I couldn't... Remember to scam my friends

MissConductUS · 30/09/2018 18:37

Wow, I really like Body Shop and DH loves their shaving products. I usually give him some for Christmas. I had no idea they ran an MLM. Perhaps it hasn't really caught on in the US.

I don't have any BS stores near me these days and just order on the website, where there are almost always promotions and discount codes. Why would you buy their goods from a distributor?

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 30/09/2018 19:12

"Without my ProPlanner I couldn't ......remember what lies I've told on my social media posts"

coooeee! Maybe you need one of these

SassitudeandSparkle · 30/09/2018 19:13

From reading this thread, I have spent time looking up the accounts of some of the MLM companies including one that a friend does - no profits in sight so far. Why do the companies concerned carry on if they are not making any money out of it?

Also, if someone could PM me the real names of people I'd be interested Blush

Justbackfromnewwine · 30/09/2018 19:22

Sorry if this has been mentioned on a previous thread - just wonders if anyone else has seen the latest series of Orange is the New Black on Netflix? I so enjoyed the storyline of the ex-con doing ‘Nutriherbal’ — a blatant parody of Herbalife. Starts a few episodes in. I particularly enjoyed it because my closest real life bot is of the Herbalife variety. Would recommend it and I hope it does a bit to bring these things down!

SassitudeandSparkle · 30/09/2018 19:26

My friend's company has only made a profit on a couple of occasions going back over a decade! Slightly concerning is a mention in the notes of the accounts of what sounds like a focus on training courses, will keep watch from a distance!

Spongebobette · 30/09/2018 19:26

@MissConductUS the same goes for Neal's Yard; lovely products, a bit expensive but Waitrose has 1/3 off several times a year so I stock up then. Why would I use a network marketing 'business owner' when they can't possibly match that?

See also: Usborne Books. Lots of offers online all over the place, how do bots expect to make an actual living selling them??

the thing about pro planners is......if you have a lot of stock, it will lose value as the year goes on. Who wants to buy a 2018 diary in October?

user1484830599 · 30/09/2018 19:46

Is the pro planner the notebook they cover in blocks of highlighter pen to show how busy and in demand they are?

user1484830599 · 30/09/2018 19:49

Oh wow I just googled, I didn't realise it was a real thing Grin

BSintolerant · 30/09/2018 20:17

Without my Pro Planner I'd be £30 better off. Grin

Paddy1234 · 30/09/2018 20:20

Well Uber has just left for Eagle Retreat in Arizona. Two years ago there was nearly a plane full - I wonder who will be joining her (it doesn't start for a bit) - will be interesting to see who joins her

notsurewhatshappening · 30/09/2018 20:22

I had a body shop party once. The report spent half an hour blathering on about the opportunity and we played a stupid game. My friend won a tiny body lotion. No one really bought anything and it was all a bit embarrassing Blush ... I would never do it again even if I didn't know the mlm truth!

Paddy1234 · 30/09/2018 20:24

Welsh former down line on FL promises that he will spend more time with family now after spending last few years working non stop - sorry but didn't you proclaim over the years that FL gave you time with your family - lying sods

Bovneydazzlers · 30/09/2018 21:47

I am eagerly awaiting Forever Livings (late) accounts.

In regards to the question of if companies (ie forever living UKitself not the business owners) are making a loss why continue, you have to look at it globally. The global HQ manufacturing centre will pht a mark up on all goods they sell to the individual counties, who then sell it on to the business owners for a further mark up. So although an individual country may not make a profit, the main directors are likely still profiteering from that country.

Additionally you get economies of scale, so although some individual countries may not be profitable, if they allow globally to make economies of scale it still makes sense to maintain the market.

Saying that, there will be a tipping point where if it’s becomes so unprofitable, it is not worth staying in the country so they will no longer operate there (or merge countries operations) or do a huge shift in strategy for that region.

MLMsuperfan · 30/09/2018 22:01

Brokebot's FB is unavailable for me.

I do suspect something has gone down.

No mention on his "business" page though. Or his other half's FB.

Spongebobette · 30/09/2018 22:20

It’s so clear, when you look at the accounts, that the Forever Living business is very tightly controlled by one family.

All this shite about ‘working alongside’ and ‘independent business owners’ is just a way to not pay salaries/ sick pay/ maternity pay and to have a workforce paid purely on commission and being essentially self employed. With all the costs and no benefits. With extra costs for the poor bots cleverly built in such as the website, the success days etc where the profit goes up the pyramid

It’s so clever, so exploitative and so wrong

OP posts:
Paddy1234 · 30/09/2018 22:47

So wrong - not paying any contributions into the NHS, no tax, no rights for employees - all under the guise of financial freedom and being your own boss. Exploitation at its worse.

I am looking forward to the accounts being filed more than Christmas.

BSintolerant · 30/09/2018 23:21

With extra costs for the poor bots cleverly built in such as the website, the success days etc where the profit goes up the pyramid.

Exactly. A lot of the money which the CEOs of these awful mlm schemes make are from the shadow pyramid, i.e success days, mindset training books and downloads, planners (which are essentially glorified notebooks / diaries), software packages, tablecloths, banners, leaflets ...

I was looking at the pics from the Younique event in Telford. It made me sad. Lots of posts about Y sisters, friendship, empowerment etc etc
The woman I know who went is fully botted and is endlessly buying makeup for herself to demonstrate with and it must be costing her a fortune. There’s no way in hell she can be making money. And then she pays to attend these rallies which make her feel like she has lots of friends.
Her full time job as a nurse is subsidising Younique.
