Anti MLM/ Network marketing thread NUMBER 43!!

Spongebobette · 29/09/2018 18:17

This is the 43rd thread in a long series about the dangers of network marketing/ MLMs such as Forever Living, Ariix, NuSkin, Arbonne, Younique, TS Life, and MANY MANY more!
Posts here will give examples of the lies told by 'top bots' who portray luxury lifestyles in order to lure in new victims and of the other techniques and brainwashing used by MLMs
Over 90% of people who join an MLM end up LOSING money. Always bear that in mind when considering paying money to join!

@Leasedaudi it’s in NW1, not far from the BBC. And interestingly enough, I’m meeting a BBC contact to talk about MLMs tomorrow.

There’s so much media interest at the moment, but it’s so hard to get to the human story that they all seem to want. If anyone wants to share their MLM experience, do PM me in confidence to discuss.

leasedaudi · 30/10/2018 19:14

@ArbunneHun ah shame, I have a manic day tomorrow, if you were closer or my day less mental, I'd try to fit in a sneaky eavesdrop / maybe back you up?

Maybe she'll be a downline of one of our fave bots..

user1484830599 · 30/10/2018 19:23

Those suitcases! They aren't all even the same design Grin

I wonder if yawns two latest bots will make it to Stockholm, as neither of them seem to have a lot of money. It will be interesting to see their excuses if they qualify.

Hunbot · 30/10/2018 20:53

Is yawn driving long distances to deliver deodorants. She had put a picture saying she is out delivering and hash tagged long distance customers. Probably spending more in fuel than earning for her share of a stick of deodorant

Mumof3girlssoontobe4 · 30/10/2018 21:30

Found this corker on my local selling page (scotland) loads of gullible buggers commenting "interested" had to resist the urge to type "mlm scam" into the comments!

I have just seen a clip where a bot says in 5 year she's earned "millions" - surely this could be reported under false advertising - unless it's true?
£400K a year - not to be scoffed at.

Mumof3girlssoontobe4 · 30/10/2018 22:25

Reported the ad, clearly about inteletravel and it was swiftly deleted, result Grin

cozietoesie · 30/10/2018 22:26

Indeed. 🙂

Mumof3girlssoontobe4 · 30/10/2018 22:37

Something satisfying about trampling on a bots attempt at conning folk Grin

BangingOn · 31/10/2018 06:53

Sleaze is uncharacteristically quiet, no posts for a week now (that I can see, at least) Hmm

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 31/10/2018 08:35

Why do lies come so easily to bots? They just pour out of their mouths without thinking don't they.

Yesterday lunchtime Roomie posted about an exciting evening in with her DH trying out the stupidly expensive masks yet a few hours later she's off out "networking naturally" in a gin bar with friends (presuming that translates as boring the arse of unsuspecting drinkers with her rags to riches story and becoming her own boss and a #1 author overnight).

I have visions of her husband sitting home alone with the mask on wondering where things went wrong...

SSDGM · 31/10/2018 08:52

Sleaze could be in FB jail because of his repugnance.

I’ve done 10 business flights this month. Am I as rich as Sleaze yet?

user1484830599 · 31/10/2018 09:09

It's ridiculous @OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny. Yawns latest monologue is how to start in FL it costs the same as a night out with the girls (the girls, ugh). I thought it was £200? That's more than I've ever spent on a night out.

user1484830599 · 31/10/2018 09:11

And Roomie Grin they are all utterly manic, leaping from one thing to the next while forgetting what they've said. It must be an utterly exhausting way to live.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 31/10/2018 09:46

a night out with the girls (the girls, ugh)

If you think that's puke inducing Roomie went out with the "Girl Tribe"

Spongebobette · 31/10/2018 09:58

the constant 'girliness', including eeeeks and memes mitigates somewhat against their claim that they are serious business people

Roomie being in Waterstones to ‘talk about’ her book- is this her hanging around pestering people or trying to convince the manager to let her do a book signing?

user1484830599 · 31/10/2018 10:33

Like they'd stock that drivel in waterstones. God, there is confidence and being in complete and utter delusion Grin

JasperRising · 31/10/2018 11:26

The think is I look at her chapter summaries and think she has the potential to be able to help other women (and I think did work in a supporting field) but it is tainted by her MLM work which targets the vulnerable. I presume that she was pretty vulnerable to recruitment herself given her background.

DappledThings · 31/10/2018 13:23

SIL has just messaged DH to say she doesn't want any Xmas presents this year, just our support as she goes full time with her MLM. I.e. for us to join it. She got made redundant from her real job last week.

DH's instinct was to reply, "fuck off and get a proper job" but might try to be a little less blunt when he actually replies.

DownThePan · 31/10/2018 13:42

@DappledThings That's quite a big ask for a Christmas present, eh?! Also it's quite grabby when adults demand specific things for Christmas, especially given that it's weeks away.

notsurewhatshappening · 31/10/2018 13:51

If anyone I know asked me to join an mlm instead if a Christmas present I'd tell them to jog on!!

DappledThings · 31/10/2018 13:55

Oh she going to get told to jog on for sure. Hadn't realised quite how embroiled she was. Although taking my 4 year old nephew to the regional conference and claiming he was amazed and inspired by the presentations should have been a clue

Spongebobette · 31/10/2018 13:56

'I don't want anything for Christmas except for you buying things from my pretend business so that I can appear successful and so that my upline can make money and post positive things about me....and also, please join my team!'

Spongebobette · 31/10/2018 13:58

(bet she doesn't tell people she's been made redundant btw, she'll have 'sacked the boss')
