You are right of course! I recommend again the Baffler's story, entertaining and amusing as well

Misrepresentation - how is this an 'employed job'?

Employed Jobs - National Details ?

I've emailed the mumandworking website and invited them to review this and the previous thread for information on the types of business they're associating themselves with.

Eyespying · 27/07/2015 11:15

lazycoo I've now spoken to someone (full of common-sense) at the Diss Express who takes our concerns very seriously, and who is going to speak with the Editor. Apparently, the link which I previously gave to the 'FLP' propaganda article now doesn't work: not because the article has been withdrawn, but because it's been put under a different heading.

The paper was apparently approached by the people behind 'mumandworking' Website.

www.mumandworking.co.uk/2015-Awards/Awards-Shortlisted/

According to the 'mumsandwork' Website:

'Best Direct-Sales Independent Representative 2015 flexible working award

Open to any direct sales representative who can show the judges proven success in terms of business growth, as well as being an inspiration to other sellers or team members through their flexible working model of running their business to support their family As sponsored by Official Photographer Sophie Sheinwald Photography

Claire Hallet-Walsh - Forever Living
Emma Joy-staines - Forever Prosperity International Group
Sarah Fryer IT Works Global - Sarah's Body Wraps
Joanne Body - Partylite
Kelly Grant - Scentsy'

---------------

One wonders if the 'mumsandwork' judges will apply common-sense, and ask to see the income-tax payment receipts of the 'successful business owners' on this shortlist?

bettyberry · 27/07/2015 13:08

They're not employment opportunities. You'd make more, invest much less by buying yourself basic cleaning kit (£100 for bleach, disinfectant, soap, mop, bucket, cloths etc and something to wear) and doing that as a business. At least the money you earn will be all yours ( minus tax/NI) you'd make back your investment in a month. Unlike these 'businesses' where some folk are putting so much in with little return.

In fact I'd clean toilets and iron shorts for the £8 an hour I used to charge than do any direct selling and I still get to see my child.

Stitchintime1 · 27/07/2015 13:35

Fake Younique? What nonsense. It's someone's starter kit that was cluttering up their spare room.

Stitchintime1 · 27/07/2015 13:39

They specifically target women. And women's earnings can be so compromised by motherhood that we are particularly vulnerable to this sort of family friendly rhetoric. I have yet to meet a man who signs up for this sort of thing.

Eyespying · 27/07/2015 14:07

Stitchintime1 - There are 'MLM income opportunity' rackets designed to ensare virtually everyone, no matter what their sex, age, level of education, etc.

This jaw-dropping episode of Penn & Teller's adult comedy show, 'Bullshit,' entitled 'Easy Money,' featured a beer and BBQ 'MLM' exclusively for men, along with a sex-toy 'MLM' exclusively for women.

MN members are warned that this Penn &Teller show contains scenes of full-frontal nudity.

lazycoo · 27/07/2015 14:58

stitch my dad sold Amway and one of my male BFFs sold Herbalife but women feel the pressure to stay at home with the kids more than men do, apparently feel more pressure to lose weight and be attractive than men do, and as such are more vulnerable to the pressures. You're right about the motherhood thing, it's the most vulnerable time - I was desperate not to go back to work after having DD but I'm so glad I did in hindsight.

My dad was desperate for money and is maddeningly trusting even now. My Herbalife friend wasn't short of money but couldn't resist the lure of the easy buck, again, a trusting sort. When Arbonne approached me, the desire to be part of this clique of glossy-haired wealthy women at a vulnerable time in my life was huge. I didn't believe the tales of endless riches but considered 'investing' just so I could go on their fun journey with them. I was very lonely and grieving at the time.

Everyone wants something - the MLM can be tailored to target everyone's 'tell'.

xenu1 · 27/07/2015 15:11

Awesome eyespring! I completely forgot about P&T and I have all 8 seasons on (region 1) DVD. I saw them at the Amazing Meeting in Vegas (#2 I think) in 2002 or so. (Season 2 Episode 12 Exercise vs. Genetics is a fave, and highly recommended for anyone concerned with weight loss scams)
P&Ts "Bullshit" is also quite profane; but shows you what you can do under the US First Amendment - so different from the UK.
I also didn't know mary kay was the first - need to check www.pinktruth.com/ (MK-critical site) again

Stitchintime1 · 27/07/2015 15:16

LazyCoo; that makes sense. All things to all people.

Eyespying · 27/07/2015 16:04

xenu1 On your side of the Atlantic, it's a commonly held belief that the British have less freedom to express their thoughts than Americans?

Notwithstanding the First Amendment right to free speech, you can take it from me, that what Messrs. P&T have said in private about 'MLM' mobs, and what they have (so far) been brave enough to say in public, are not the same.

The three things which P&T were specifically instructed to avoid mentioning by their attorneys, were:

  1. The word, 'cult.'
  2. The term, 'pyramid fraud.'
  3. The connection of 'MLM' bosses with the so-called 'Religious Right' in general, and with the 'Mormon Church,' in particular.

To their credit, P&T did, however, slip in a courageous line in their satirical 'body-rub oil' opening-presentation, where they referred an 'interested caller' to an address in Salt Lake City.

Monday morning....chill time with the kids!! Movie time...perfect on a wet morning!!

lazycoo · 27/07/2015 16:53

The diss express story is still up but the job which I brought to the attention of mumandworking.co.uk seems to be removed or renamed. I can't see it.

That said they are still promoting loads of MLMs - it seems that is the MO of mumandworking.co.uk. Should rename their site www.mumandpayingtowork.co.uk.

Hi,

I am emailing you today to express my concern about some of the advertising of FL products on Facebook. Please see attached screenshots.
Among other things, it is implied that:

Forever living products helped someone with Stage 4 cancer go into remission;
helps with autism: crohns; arthritis such that the person with arthritis went into remission; that an FL distributor has had training from FL with a doctor and a vet so they can give medical advice about appropriate products; that use of FL products causes miraculous health turn-arounds.

There is no scientific evidence any of these statements are true or even legal.

Kind regards,

lastuseraccount123 · 27/07/2015 17:14

I"ll let you know what they say.

lastuseraccount123 · 27/07/2015 17:19

i also attached the screenshot of Rex Maughan spouting the BS about miraculous health turn arounds.

lastuseraccount123 · 27/07/2015 17:19

i mean, they should know he's making those claims, being the founder and all.

Annie65 · 27/07/2015 19:58

My flbot now got the picture of a little girl saying"please mummy dont go to work" . Its disgusting making out mums that go out to work are making their children so unhappy.I am a nan and I look after my grandsons while their mum goes to work and I can quite ensure any of the fl "business owners" that my grandsons are two of the most happy and looked after boys ever. This sort of thing makes me so angry. This flbot has got my sil into fl, I brought 2 items from her, but I can quite ensure that I wouldnt touch any of the crap again with a barge-pole!!!!

Eyespying · 27/07/2015 20:33

Annie65 One of the most effective ways of causing psychological damage to a person, is to present him/her with an irreconcilable mental conflict.

Perhaps you've seen the film 'Sophie's Choice,' where a mother is forced to decide which one of her beloved children will live and which one will die.

In the 'negative vs positive' comic-book story which controls the personalities and behaviour of core-MLM adherents, everyday families are portrayed as being forced to live apart outside of 'MLM' groups (because parents must go to work as they are too selfish to build 'MLM' businesses), whilst only successful 'MLM business owners' have infinite time and money to be with their offspring, because they have refused to quit, and have built their 'MLM businesses' on the selfless priciple of helping others to succeed.

When struggling and doubting 'MLM' core-adherents try to quit their groups, often they can be shepherded back into the fold, by presenting them with an irreconcilable mental conflict, simply by telling them that they are too selfish to succeed as witnessed by the fact that they obviously don't love their children enough to continue.

Annie65 · 27/07/2015 20:52

It really is very frightening how people are so gullible and naive when they are feeling low and depressed. These companys are very devious in their methods of recruitment. It would never work on me because of the way they tell you what and how to do things. I am one of those people that likes to do things my own way and find my own path, I think it is a certain type of person that they recruit, people who need to be accepted and want to be part of something, there is nothing wrong with being this way, I just think its vile how these so called companys work and take complete advantage of people.

Eyespying · 27/07/2015 22:08

Annie65 What is both frightening and laughable, is that (due to the unpaid determined efforts of persons such as myself) UK regulators and law enforcement agents have been aware of 'MLM income opportunity' cultic racketeering (and how it spreads like a cancer preying on the ill-informed and vulnerable) for many years. Yet these same regulators and law enforcement agents, have done effectively-nothing to warn their employers, the UK public, let alone try to stop this type of highly-organized, unlawful enterprise, or hold the racketeers behind it, to account.

The near total absence of well-informed and determined civil regulation, and criminal law enforcement, around the world, has been used by a syndicate 'MLM' racketeers to make it appear to their victims, and to casual observers, that so-called 'MLM income opportunities' can't possibly be unlawful.

I personally feel that, in respect of 'MLM' racketeering, the terms 'regulators' and 'law enforcement agents,' have long since become a grotesque inversion of reality.

Indeed, it took the efforts of a $19 billions hedge fund manager (along with a staff of attorneys, researchers and analysts) to get an investigation of the 'Herbalife' racket launched in the USA, and almost two years later, the 'Herbalife' racket is still operating in plain sight - complete with former senior US federal (so-called) 'law enforcement agents' on the payroll.

bettyberry · 28/07/2015 09:01

more Recruiting going on over with the FLbot. Also, hashtags of note #AloeToTheRescue #LoveMyKids and #aloeBoss is rather amusing and full of bloody minions and supposedly happy families. gag
