exactly Lily.

Most genuine retail companies have limits on the number of distributors they have and those distributors have exclusive rights to the product in a certain territory. Take Top Shop. The distributor in Canada is Hudson's Bay. You don't see Top Shop tell Hudson's Bay to get 5 bazillion other distributors to sell their clothes in Canada - Hudson's Bay is the exclusive distributor for them, so people who want to buy the products go there, and Hudson's makes the money.

Same with makeup etc. brands of bikes, clothes, etc. etc. I could go on. But Fl's whack-a-doo distribution model (along with YOunique and the rest of the MLM bullshitters ) is what convinces me it's about recruitment rather than sales. The distribution model makes NO SENSE from a business perspective unless you are focussed on recruiting more suckers for your downline.

lastuseraccount123 · 20/07/2015 20:24

yes, but it's your own business and presumably you monitor how much you sell/vs expenses etc.

So, if FL claims to be such a successful business model let's see the breakdown of business expenses and profits for the average distributor so people really know what they are getting into. That's not too much to ask.

MaryLennox84 · 20/07/2015 20:29

Most people are happy to share that info with you, actually, and they are pretty transparent about what it takes to achieve certain levels of income. I have seen paystubs from people in my upline and my sponsors.

But then, what is "average"? Someone who puts in the work and someone who gave up after two weeks...they aren't going to yield the same results so it makes it difficult to say what the average distributor makes.

MaryLennox84 · 20/07/2015 20:33

With FL you are also free to monitor your expenses vs profit. After the initial buy-in (which is free in the US), you are free to spend money or not on the business. No one is going to hold a gun to your head saying "Now you have to pay £x in order to progress!" Further may include products or training from FL or it may include things from third party sources that any business owner needs like creating cards, fliers, websites, travel costs, etc.

I run a blog and I have paid quite a lot without a lot of return for a long time on all of these things including my own travel and training. Just now am I getting to a point where a lot of it is being given to me for free, so my expenses are being cut.

Eyespying · 20/07/2015 20:35

'As though people who do earn money on FL are earning Monopoly money!'

How ironic, because there is actually an absurd 'MLM' board game complete with fake money.

All the quantifiable evidence demonstrates quite clearly that persons obediently reciting the script and claiming to be 'MLM business owners,' aren't really in business at all. They are merely adults who (for various reasons, sometimes tragic) have mistaken an absurd, pay-through-the-nose-to-play game of make-believe, for reality. The real money has been made by the minority of crooks who keep setting up this sinister charade.

Anyone claiming, or implying, that it is possible for the average person to generate an overall net-profit out of participating in a so-called 'MLM income opportunity,' is not telling the truth.

MaryLennox84 · 20/07/2015 20:40

Okay eyespy, WE GET IT.

LilyAlpha · 20/07/2015 20:41

Defo, lastuser. *nods head in agreement

lastuseraccount123 · 20/07/2015 20:46

that's great, Mary. Would you care to share your paystubs with us from FL?

from your upline?

it's interesting because in Canada the law has been changed and now MLMs like FL are required to disclose what an average participant makes (and yes, that's not that hard to figure out - i don't buy for a second that FL couldn't do this if it wanted to. It's just maths. ).

For Jockey P2P, the average participant made a whopping 8 thousand Canadian dollars PER YEAR.

Your blog is not the same as an MLM. I also run a business, I know my outgoings, my taxes, my income etc and I know exactly what I'm getting into. The issue that many of us have with FL and it's ilk is that it's really not clear and upfront what people are getting sucked into when they join.

trinitybleu · 20/07/2015 20:58

With Y, we get no sign up bonus for recruits and no commission on their presenter kit. It's not all focussed on building teams, personal sales are where the money is. And you don't need a geographic area as with FB, Insta etc that's not how the world works now. You're connected to people all over the world.

Avon are always advertising for new distributors on my local selling sites with no mention of protected territories ... I think that might be a historical thing. Also they don't sell on eBay or Amazon, they post all over FB, get paid a % of their team sales and run parties etc. How come no one bashes them? Wink

lastuseraccount123 · 20/07/2015 21:06

sorry Trinity you're wrong. If I try and buy a Canada goose jacket from a distributor who doesn't sell in my area, they won't sell it to me but will refer me to a distributor who does. Nice try though. I could try and get around it by using a VPN, but then if your shipping address is wrong the sale won't go through.

If Y is not at all focussed on building teams, why on the Netmums thread is that such a topic of conversation? I can find the posts about recruiting if you like. Sorry, i don't buy it. Don't you also have a downline of 7? Do you not make a certain % of their sales?

bettyberry · 20/07/2015 21:08

also a few images from pinterest that actually link through to FB pages where the forever living stuff is sold.

I am not a scientist but some of the things on these don't all ring true. If anyone can correct me or confirm please.

trinitybleu - you can buy avon direct from their website. I have bashed them but also seen first hand how little there is to be made from them and tbh I don't see much on my FB feed from amazon. My mother had to get at least a £50 order from each of her ladies to make it worthwhile with petrol etc. Xmas was the only time she really did well because folk found it easier to order via her than head into town.

lastuseraccount123 · 20/07/2015 21:15

example of Y posts:

*Thats fantastic Angela!! My sponsor is a gem too, all the girls are soooo helpful, just looking to build my own little team now! So excited for new mascara, eek!!!
I think you could def do that with shop windows, i have business cards in my husbands work, and a few girls i know have done stalls at galas with their cosmetics for samples, once i have built up enoigh stock i will start doing home party here and there! ???? thats the prob in my town, there are quite a few people already doing younique and forever, so im trying to hrab the attention of people OUTSIDE my town! Xx *

Im loving all these Younique posts! Just gutted i didnt join earlier, i always sat on the fence about it but man im glad i did it, i love it!!!! Now in position to be recruiting a new team member if any girls interested? Would love to have a widespread team of girls!! PM ???????????????????? xxxx

I think most of us on here would like new team members

I am joining my friends team next week when I get paid I can't wait. Just worried I won't get the sales. Is the sale goal over three months £125 or 125 orders? Xx

BromleyGal · 20/07/2015 21:20

Ime, Younique is most definitely focussed on recruitment. The 2/3 Younique 'presenters' I have as FB friends frequently try to recruit and make whooping noises when someone new joins their teams.

I have just done some more digging. Someone very close to me is involved with FL's #1 in the UK. And FL's #1 in the UK makes me feel very um...uncomfortable. Lucky her - apparently she received a cheque in Singapore for $680k+ and it appears that money is her sole motivation.

At what cost do these people generate 6 figure incomes? At the cost of hundreds of thousands of vulnerable naive people who just want/need to earn some extra money to make ends meet or for a treat for their kids.

The whole thing stinks.

lastuseraccount123 · 20/07/2015 21:53

absolutely. I've noticed a new trend on the Netmums board - new MLMs starting up and part of the sales pitch seems to be if you get on board NOW, you'll end up higher up the food chain - example:

South Hill Designs - Artist Discussion Thread

I was sure that we had a post but can't seem to find it anywhere so thought I would start a new post for us!

Thought we should introduce ourselves......

I'm Zoe & live in West Sussex and was the 8th person in the UK to join South Hill, I am one of only 3 directors in the UK and love the product more and more with every new launch.

So who is working towards Cancun?

I look forward to chatting with you all

Total life changes discussion

Hiya I started with TLC 4 weeks ago when it launched in the UK. It's going from strength to strength I'm so happy I joined.
I'm getting sales and recruiting well but want to make things go further.
What do you all do to generate your leads?

Traffic Monsoon Discussion

Hi all

I did search through these threads to see if there was one for TRAFFIC MONSOON but I couldn't find it!!

Am I the only one of here doing traffic monsoon? Anyone else do it?

I would love to hear your experience with them!

I only joined a week ago but I am thoroughly enjoying it so far! I have been posting on my facebook page my earnings everyday!

I just cannot believe something that was FREE to join and only takes 10 minutes per day to do can earn you money from day 1.

For the last 3 and a half years I have worked doing my own online fair website which took up 40+ hours a week. I gave that up a couple of days ago as I had made a loss for the second year running!! It was upsetting but I had to admit defeat and I stopped because of traffic monsoon lol

I am in a support group on facebook and there are people there earning loads from this!

I also would like to know, if anyone else is with them, whether you are getting good results from advertising your other websites with Traffic monsoon? The credit we earn from checking out other websites we can use to promote our own ones! So has this worked for you? As I have only been with them for 1 week I cannot really compare anything as yet!

Anyway, would love to connect with other members!!

ugh

Peacheykeen · 20/07/2015 21:58

Bromley I think I know who you are talking about I've seen my FLbot post about her and she is an inspiration to all women . Is she the one who wrote a book about how social networking doubled my business ? If so I've seen alot of the FL minions talk about her like she is a goddess to be worshipped

trinitybleu · 20/07/2015 21:59

last - yes, team of 7. No, I don't make anything off their sales yet. Only on my own sales. As I said before, that's what I am focussing on and a team is a bonus.

betty - as you can from the Younique site. Go look.

BromleyGal · 20/07/2015 22:02

Peachey, yep that's the one. Apparently irl she's absolutely chaotic, doesn't know where she's meant to be, or when she's meant to be there. But nonetheless has built a £multi-million in just a few years. Based on others' misfortune.

Peacheykeen · 20/07/2015 22:10

All the FL " Huns" I've come across want to be just like her. Have the white range rover , Porsche, fancy trips away etc. They treat that book of hers like the bible lol.

LilyAlpha · 20/07/2015 22:18

Its the pretentiousness of it all that gets to me. The feigned benevolence of it all. The FL mission to 'help' others to be healthier, wealthier & free. Complete bullcrap. I'd have more respect for FL if it presented itself as the wolf it is, instead of dressing itself in sheep's clothing. I think that's what makes it so predatory. It makes big, grandiose claims with a warm, smiley face but EVERYTHING it claims is a unapologetic lie. How it achieves such loyalty from its members, is a shame, it really doesn't deserve it! Bots will rush to its defence, saying FL never says that, just other bots....in the face of virtually all bots & FL itself doing/saying the very same thing denied. Of course, Fl makes sweeping claims of its products' healing abilities. I know I havn't imagined seeing presentations, where a 'big fat juicy carrot' of huge sums of money to be made, early retirement, even leaving a legacy behind for children (don't laugh), are blatantly waved in front of viewers/attendee's faces. What do you think those things where 'higher level' diamond, emerald, fools gold members get presented with those monstrous cheques, on stage, is about???
I can understand FL keeping up the charade, but why on earth do so many of its members feel the need to pretend 'there's nothing to see here'? If it walks like a duck & talks like a duck, just call it a ph**in duck!!!
