last MAC?? Eeekkk ... It's full of parabens and talc you know .... Wink Wink Grin

tribpot · 14/07/2015 18:37

I thought the NM thread was very sad. These people appear to have been sold an idea that you can ruthlessly exploit your friends and family. I run a business and all my work comes through personal contacts but that means you have to be doing favours for others so that you can tap them up in return. Always better to have a large credit in the favours column! Expecting people to buy, buy, buy is unrealistic; expecting it of your own friends is beyond blinkered. But I guess if you don't know anything about how business works and you can see that apparently this model is highly successful you just step on the travelator and get swept along.

lastuseraccount123 · 14/07/2015 18:45

i notice the new phrase is "social selling". Whatever, it's still the same old MLM bs.

lastuseraccount123 · 14/07/2015 18:47

trinity i love the smell of parabens in the morning. Grin parabens. paraaaaaaabeeens. mmm-mmm.

tribpot · 14/07/2015 18:54

Yeah, it's a blurry old digital world, as the bloggers have discovered from the use of affiliate links and paid-for reviews.

This form of marketing seems like a twist on the blogger case - whereas at least bloggers have to generate appealing content to build up a following, the MLM 'social seller' expects to tap into their ready-made following. This seems to have some good advice which chimes with what FL are trying to do in a very formulaic way, but lacks the authenticity which the article regards as essential to doing business.

'Don't say it's Multi-Level Marketing or Network Marketing... try peer to peer, interactive, vertically-aligned retail cooperative.'

lastuseraccount123 · 14/07/2015 19:41

it's social selling..it's not like AMway..it's the FUTURE..everything is on social media these days...

tribpot · 14/07/2015 19:50

Exactly - just like the dot com bubble. Good times!

lazycoo · 14/07/2015 20:23

eyespying vertically aligned what?!

lazycoo · 14/07/2015 20:26

Invite the NMs here for a chat so they can then see it's not their fault there's not a white Range Rover parked in their drives Grin

sara11272 · 14/07/2015 21:28

Reading with interest.

Re the white Range Rovers, I once saw a really tatty old car with a sticker on saying 'ask me how you can earn £100k a year' - can't remember what it was promoting but some MLM.

To which everyone's response must have been 'Well, you're clearly not...'

Bot update:

Lovely wee catch up with [insert name here] tonight organising our team training and planning out the next few months....and getting excited about our bonus going into the bank tomorrow!!! Love the help and support we all give each other!! ?#?foreverfamily?

MarthasHarbour · 15/07/2015 08:46

lastuser bleurgh

Something else i have noticed, for obvious reasons they will only support their own downline/upline.

For example: My cousin is doing it, her FL upline has a long thread on FB about the amazing bonus she has just been given and all of her minions are going on about all the hard work she has put in and it is all worth it hun for your family goals yada yada. Anyway, my cousin's friend has added to the back slapping and has asked if the FLBot would give her sister some advice and guidance as she has just started out and is struggling.

This post has been completely ignored, despite the request going in twice. My theory is that the FLBot upline wont help cousin's friend's sister (do you follow?) as she is not on her downline. Why would she help someone if there is no financial gain for her.

It's sickening, Sad

tribpot · 15/07/2015 10:02

?#?foreverfamily? indeed Hmm

FLBot could at least tell her to speak to her own upline, as presumably that's what she actually needs to do? But why not poach her from the other 'Zen Master Eagle Leader' or whatever they're called?

Eyespying · 15/07/2015 10:13

MarthasHarbour

'...for obvious reasons they will only support their own downline/upline.'

----------------

What is known in the jargon as, 'Cross-Lining,' has been completely forbidden in all 'MLM' rackets.

MarthasHarbour · 15/07/2015 10:28

Jeeez that youtube guy has just got me even more Angry

so much for the #foreverfamily

TalcumMucker · 15/07/2015 11:05

Well as I've been ignoring my FLbot's invitations to see what her business is all about she has a new tactic to try and get me to see her presentation. I don't know her well at all and haven't actually seen her in person for over a year. I wonder how many people she's sent it to? I might just send her a link to this thread as a reply, if she isn't reading it already!

FL thread 2
lazycoo · 15/07/2015 11:12

talcum that's a weird one. I'd be inclined not to reply - after all, coaching her to getting used to being ignored could be seen as useful Grin. It seems crafted to get you to actively oppose the MLM arguments which she'll fire at you! Chances are it won't end well.

If they're not allowed to cross-poach, then why do you think they all offer each other so much love and support on the NM thread?

TalcumMucker · 15/07/2015 11:27

I agree Lazycoo if she was a close friend it would be different but I hardly know her. I'll ignore.

tribpot · 15/07/2015 11:30

It's completely illogical - how has she been growing the business so successfully if she hasn't already mastered the presentation? Why would she need it now and not a year ago? Why would you have questions if she's only wanting to practice on you? I'd definitely not reply - so we can find out what the next step in the 'gouge your mates' handbook is.

MarthasHarbour · 15/07/2015 11:34

Oooo talc that is a new one. My initial thoughts were a simple 'no thanks' but i agree with lazycoo, ignore ignore ignore.

On the other hand you could have soooooo much fun with this. Say 'no thanks but i know of someone who may be interested' - and put her onto eyespying Wink I am sure you could help her out with her presentation eye!!

lazycoo · 15/07/2015 11:42

Ooooh marthas that's a good idea! eyespying would be amazing, we would have to film it lol.

Eyespying · 15/07/2015 13:02

-MarthasHarbour* - This is just another deceptive 'MLM' scripted, recruitment tactic - to get into the minds (and wallets) of more-sceptical , or even 'negative,' prospects. It's based on flattery and the manipulation of human curiosity; where the recruiter pretends to be only interested in practising his/her business presentation in front of a trusted-person whose objective opinion is valued, but doesn't actually explain to the trusted person whose objective valued-opinion is valued, that he/she is actually the recruitment target.

The same tactic was once taught to high-pressure salesmen to be used on potential customers whom they encountered in hotels, trains, bars, etc.

I believe it features in various best-selling books on the art of salemanship.

MarthasHarbour · 15/07/2015 13:27

Yep i think we got that - i was just having a laugh
