@Hoping77 @Itonlytakesone

Thinking of you both today.

Whatever happens, remember there's always light at the end of the tunnel :-)

bluebutterfly8 · 05/06/2024 10:58

@Hoping77 @Itonlytakesone
I've been checking to see if either of you have posted all morning - I feel for you both.

Hope you're both ok..

After a whole week of no preg symptoms, I've been feeling awfully sick this morning and have a dull ache around my back.

5 days to go for me!

Itonlytakesone · 05/06/2024 11:42

I'm out of theatre. The operation all went well im having coffee and toast. Minimal bleeding. My stomach already feels so much more relaxed it's instant relief. By the weekend I'll be feeling so much better what a rollercoaster that has been! Ah thanks so much for checking on us both!

@bluebutterfly8

Yes my symptoms started to subside over last week less painful boobs less nausea and with my sac shrinking I think my body was starting to realise. Can you ask to be seen any sooner - 5 days longer is so hard. They wanted me to wait 2 weeks but I insisted 1 and now I'm all sorted, if I were you I'd stress how anxious the wait is try to appeal to get seen sooner

@Itonlytakesone

I'm so glad you feel better! You did it :-D
Onwards & upwards from here. :-)

I just rang them and they said they don't have any availability this week so can't fit me in!!! Aaaahhh! The joys.
So, another 5 days of googling, messing around with my dates and stressing.

Itonlytakesone · 05/06/2024 12:23

@bluebutterfly8
It was worth an ask. Definitely. But getting through to the other side now I'd say, accept it try not to google anymore I know it's hard but if you act like you're not pregnant for now on it'll make it easier for you when you get your diagnosis. I didn't have any false hope last week and it helped me get through it I know it's hard because you want to have hope💔but do what's best for you

OP posts:
bluebutterfly8 · 05/06/2024 12:27

@Itonlytakesone

How long were you in theatre for?
Will you be sent home same day or are you staying?

What's the bleeding like?

Sorry, to bombard you with questions - I want to be mentally prepared! Just incase

bluebutterfly8 · 05/06/2024 12:33

@Itonlytakesone

That's exactly what I've done since the last scan - accept that this is the end.
Until, this morning I was really nauseus and then the googling started again! Aaaahhh.

Plus kids are back at school and I'm wfh and have more than enough time to research!

I'll get through these few days somehow :-)

Hoping77 · 05/06/2024 12:36

@Itonlytakesone @bluebutterfly8

Im so glad you’re out and the operation went well. It’s good to hear that you are feeling better too ❤️

Im just about to leave for the hospital now so I’ll update you as soon as I come out x

Itonlytakesone · 05/06/2024 12:47

@bluebutterfly8

Endlessly googling miracle success stories the first week of waiting proved pointless to me so I stopped all that last week! You'll be ok.

@Hoping77 hope everything is ok Smile

@bluebutterfly8
Only just saw your questions.

So I was in theatre only 10-20 mins then recovery after. Just a pad on when I came around with light bleeding on they keep checking it / changing it but it's like a very light period. No pain loads of coffee and biscuits toast they are looking after me and I'll be able to go home whenever I'm ready. Got a sick note too Smile

The surgery is nice and predictable the waiting to bleed worry is now over for me. I had 2 pessaries inserted vaginally about 45 mins before the procedure to soften ect so it makes it easier. Sorry too much information- although I'm telling you guys and you would want all the information!

bluebutterfly8 · 05/06/2024 13:07

@Itonlytakesone

Sounds good and straight forward. I'm so happy for you :-) after all of that you deserve an easy ride at the end!

My manager did mention we get 2 weeks if we had a miscarriage. So, I'm going to have to speak to her after the scan and decide what I'm doing going forwards.

I'm scared of infection, how would you avoid the area getting infected? Did they say anything about that.

And enjoy the cuppas and coffees whilst your there :-) Have u had anything to eat?

Itonlytakesone · 05/06/2024 13:36

@bluebutterfly8
I guess there's a risk of infection but they just said to keep an eye on the bleeding nothing in particular I guess you'll know if you're not right and you can pop back in. There's no good way of doing this is there though🫤 but I didn't want it dragging out I was already 9 weeks so enough was enough for me.

To keep clean after just brought a little toiletry bag & used simple wipes / products because there's no soap in them and during ivf that's all they would let me use. Iv switched onto my usual purple always pads now and there's hardly any bleeding. I'm all dressed my husband is on his way

OP posts:
bluebutterfly8 · 05/06/2024 13:44

@Itonlytakesone
Even if you waited another week, you'd still have to have it out of your stomach 1 way or another - so there's no escaping! I think I'm overthinking because of not knowing and the fear that comes with it.

Let's be more positive now - you're on way home, feet up and can just rest now :-)

Itonlytakesone · 05/06/2024 13:53

@bluebutterfly8
The doctor said, if you manage it at home you worry if there's too much bleeding 'is this ok' and if there's not enough 'is this ok is it all out?' I'm a worrier and I'm not a candidate for all that haha so I'm better off letting the doctors sort me out 🤣🙈

OP posts:
bluebutterfly8 · 05/06/2024 14:02

@Itonlytakesone

You're right 100% haha I'm a worrier to but then I'm extremely anxious of being put down and any form of a procedure! So, I've been thinking - between both I would get the pressaries they insert in or whatever they called.

Last time that's what I got but then I did stay in hosp for 2 nights so knew it all went well. Can't imagine having them put it in and then going home to 'wait and see'. That's a whole different story.

Hoping77 · 05/06/2024 15:28

@Itonlytakesone @bluebutterfly8

Hi ladies, sorry haven’t had chance to read all your recent posts this morning hope you’re both ok.

Wanted to update you, I had the scan and not much change from last week.
Empty sac which had only grown 2mm and the sac was non uniform in shape. So pretty conclusive it’s non viable which we knew.

She told me to stop taking progesterone and she will book me in next week for another scan, then they can give me medicine to assist the miscarriage but she thinks it will happen naturally before then anyway.

Im sad a little but relieved it’s not still ‘inconclusive’ I wanted it to be definitely one way or the other.

So I’m going to stop taking the progesterone from now and take each day as it comes, she warned me it might be painful but gave me the out of hours number and said I can come in whenever I need to there is no threshold just call and they will get me straight in.

She was actually the last from the miscarriage clinic I saw with my original losses and with my daughter, she remembered us straight away and almost fell off her chair when we said our daughter was 4 now! She said it only seemed like last year.

She was lovely and very understanding but realistic too which was what we needed.

Going for a bacon sandwich and booking a holiday as well later! 😊 x

Itonlytakesone · 05/06/2024 16:57

@Hoping77
I'm so sorry no it's not the best news to hear is it that it's not progressing and then to wait that bit longer but yes definitely seems to be your answer there.

I think my operation pain killers have worn off so I'm in some pain now curled up on the couch feeling sorry for myself in my pjs. Just on normal paracetamol/ ibuprofen not wanting to take anything else I don't want to be blocked up. Just feels crampy no bleeding just pains oh this is absolutely no fun😞.

Get the bacon sandwich eat all the nice food it absolutely makes everything better! I'm obsessed with custard doughnuts these are getting me through!

We can do this - we have to Smile

OP posts:
bluebutterfly8 · 05/06/2024 17:07

@Hoping77

I'm so sorry! Sounds similer to the situation we were in last week - where it hadn't grown much but they still wanted us to come for another scan!

I didn't ask if I should continue with the progesterone though interesting that they've asked you to stop..

I'm glad they were direct with you. I think with me they were sugar coating the reality and being overly optimistic which actually makes it harder to get through!

Enjoy yourself and take each day as it comes :-)

bluebutterfly8 · 05/06/2024 17:08

@Itonlytakesone
Love custard doughnuts!! Enjoy :-)

& that sounds awful, could you use a hot water bottle aswell?

Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day for you :-)

Itonlytakesone · 05/06/2024 17:09

@bluebutterfly8
Oh yeah I'll definitely get a hot water bottle iv not thought of that! Thanks Smile

OP posts:
Hoping77 · 05/06/2024 17:15

@Itonlytakesone @bluebutterfly8

Thanks both, I was told to stop progesterone as they were able to take into account the measurements from the private scan.

Usually they couldn’t but the managing director of the private clinic also manages the dept at the hospital and the lady who scanned me at the private clinic also works in the pregnancy unit at the hospital too.

She said the fact that I have not miscarried by now is probably due to the progesterone so it’s pretty conclusive.

@Itonlytakesone im sorry you’re in some pain, it’s such a cruel blow after going through the loss but us women are made of strong stuff! Be kind to yourself x

Itonlytakesone · 05/06/2024 22:36

@Hoping77

Well let us know how you're doing don't face the pain alone we can help on here. It's good they can take into consideration your private scan my hospital couldn't do that for me. So hopefully you'll get sorted pretty soon.

I tell you what @bluebutterfly8 I didn't even think about it myself but your suggestion of the hot water bottle earlier really helped iv not moved all afternoon it really eased it (as well as staying on top of paracetamol/ibuprofen staggered) a pillow from my bed behind me on the couch a big fluffy blanket and a fan! As well as some nice food and custard donuts of course. Bleeding stopped for me (for now)

OP posts:
bluebutterfly8 · 06/06/2024 13:33

So sorry it's taken so long to reply - I woke up this morning with a bit of a fever, a red rash on my hand, feeling sick, pelvic pressure and back ache. Picked my phone up and put it straight back down and have just slept. Took the day of work.

@Itonlytakesone How are you now? Whenever I'm sick - my first thought is paracetamol, hot water bottle and chocolate lol so I'm glad that helped :-)

@Hoping77
It's crazy how they were all connected eh! Atleast, you don't have to wait ages and they can put the pieces together alot sooner! When's your next scan?

Hoping77 · 06/06/2024 14:48

@Itonlytakesone @bluebutterfly8

Hi ladies, hope you are both feeling ok today? @Itonlytakesone How was your night? Did you get much sleep?

@bluebutterfly8 sorry you’re not feeling the greatest, I’m glad you’ve taken the day off to rest though.

I stopped my progesterone last night, not sorry to stop taking that they were not pleasant, with the long plastic applicator quite messy although I was starting to get the hang of it!

Got some mild random stabbing type pains this morning.. I’m thinking it will happen before my next scan and she said that might happen. I can either go along to make sure it’s all gone or I can ring and cancel.

shes going I call me Friday to book me in so it would be some time next week I presume.

Spoke to my manager today, felt a little awkward trying to explain although I didn’t go into much detail at all. He is younger than me, single living on his own, no children and a bit of a geek. He’s been supportive enough but just didn’t feel comfortable if you know what I mean.

im going to purchase myself a hot water bottle from Amazon I think. All my old ones are probably worn and degraded inside and I wouldn’t trust them not to burst on me!
going to stock up on ibuprofen too..

X
