Journey after miscarriage support thread March 2023

Hi All,

I've started a new thread as the other was at page 39.
I hope everyone had a good weekend. I'm still just about in my fertile window - I got my LH surge yesterday.

The clocks going forward has hot me a little bit, but I'm looking forward to brighter evenings.

Hi all, I'm new to club, currently going through a miscarriage now and I'm feeling devastated. Great to see so many positive outcomes on here which gives me hope!. I want to start trying again at the earliest opportunity, I hear some people don't wait for their first cycle? Hoping to hear about how long people waited before trying again x

@Nmvasey85 Sorry for your loss :( We started trying straight away. As long as you're ready mentally I don't think there's anything wrong with trying asap.

@Nmvasey85 I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a miscarriage 3.5 weeks ago, I still haven't ovulated or had a period yet. Desperate for one or the other to happen so I know my cycles are back and we can try again but it's obviously different for everyone. I started tracking ovulation once the bleeding from mc had stopped and I had a negative pregnancy test, which took just over a week in my case.
If I do ovulate before a period we will try again in that "pre cycle cycle" but I'm not feeling optimistic right now. I'd be happy to see a period at this point!

@Hankthehonk thanks for sharing your experience, I hope ovulation is around the corner for you. How are you feeling in yourself emotionally? I'm not good today, I was better yesterday. Hopefully making eater lunch for 8 is the distraction I need. I have a 2 year old toddler and I'm trying to remind myself how lucky I am but it still sucks!!

@Nmvasey85 im sorry to hear about your loss and about how bad you are feeling today. The emotions really are a rollercoaster and can crash so easily

I started trying straight away but to be honest I don’t think my body was ready so id recommend waiting for the hcg level to drop otherwise things can become a bit confusing I don’t think you can ovulate until it’s dropped anyway

i hope you take care today, Easter lunch for 8 sounds like a good distraction- good luck! X

Hopefully with a bit of time I'll feel a bit more positive and less disappointed and angry.

@Nmvasey85 hi sweet I’m so sorry for your loss we started trying as soon as I got a negative pregnancy test. I was so convinced I’d be pregnant again the next cycle but no way was my body ready I was just so desperate it’s an awful feeling. I used to ovulate like clockwork but after the mc it was slightly different days if I hadn’t tracked my LH surges I’d have missed it xxx

Thanks @Chocolatebean sorry for your loss too. Are you using ovulation sticks to track?

It took us 2 years to conceive our son, multiple goes of IVF and then naturally he came along, huge surprise to us all. We got lucky this time, first attempt and I got a BFP I was so shocked but over the moon, unfortunately it was too good to be true and wasn't meant to be!

@Nmvasey85 yes I was, this last cycle I didn’t ovulate till day 19 and it was the one I got my bfp on. I used my iwatch to track my bbt but it didn’t show ovulation so I would t rely on that if u have one. I was doing an ovulation test every morning and night and it was the late night one that caught the LH surge. I’m so sorry about the ivf struggle I was so happy as in October we got pregnant first try I was so happy and timing was perfect but then it all ended. I was devastated still am. I got my bfp a little less than a week ago by my ovulation I was only 4 weeks yesterday I have no symptoms except an achy crampy feeling that I had last time so I’m hoping that’s growing/stretching and nothing more worrying xxx

@Nmvasey85 i had my mc dec 13th it was a missed mc so that was the day I took the meds to start the bleeding. At first they said a blighted ovum at 6 weeks but 2 weeks later there was a fetal pole so I had to wait another week but after the week it had actually shrunk so that’s when I took the misoprostol xxx

@Nmvasey85 I have a two year old as well and I know this experience would be even worse if I didn't have her to keep me busy and make me laugh. Beyond grateful for her.
I've been off work since my mc but back on Tuesday and dreading it - I was meant to be back last week but I had a severe flare up of symptoms of my histamine intolerance triggered by the hormone shift and was stuck in bed for a miserable few days (don't worry this is pretty specific and won't happen unless you have this condition. It also flared up around a week after I had my daughter when pregnancy hormones left my body).

I'm up and down basically, have real low moments when I can't stop crying but they are fewer all the time. Can't imagine caring about work, I'll just need to fake it I guess.

@Hankthehonk i was the same just had to pretend to be interested in things when I totally wasn’t. It did get easier then a low day would hit most mornings I didn’t want to get out of bed. I know it’s morbid but I have a few friends my age who have died and I thought crikey u need to enjoy being alive and there is more to life than a baby that helped a bit some days. Xxx

It's 4 weeks today since my miscarriage bleeding started - the longest 4 weeks of my life in so many ways.

The good news is today something actually started happening in my body. I have cramps, I wasn't sure if that might mean period or ovulation was coming but I'd be happy to see either to get a step closer to trying again. Then next time I went to the loo I had loads of EWCM - I'm so relived and happy to see it! Hoping this means I might be a few days away from ovulation, though my LH is still low. Anyway it's just so reassuring that my body has started doing anything at all that might mean cycles coming back. @Nmvasey85 might be a reassuring update for you.

@Chocolatebean I get the morbid thoughts, whatever helps right? I am glad to say I haven't been struggling to get out of bed most days, that's 100% about my daughter giving me a reason to get up and be present. I'm just not sure how to add work to the mix when it feels like I'm only just coping. But I don't have a choice so I'll just need to take it a day at a time and count down to holidays

Hi @Nmvasey85 and welcome, so sorry for your loss. As much as I don’t like to hear of others upset and disappointment it is so reassuring that everyone feels the same way and that the roller coaster of emotions is real.
My bleeding from my mc stopped last Sunday, I haven’t been tracking anything but I’ve been feeling a bit crampy/bloated the past couple of days so I’m hoping that means ovulation is on the way. We aren’t trying this cycle, I had a chemical pregnancy the month before this pregnancy so I wanted to give my body at least one cycle and then start fresh.

@Hankthehonk hoping you too have ovulation/period arriving shortly then you know where your body and cycle is at for starting to TTC. I started back work last week, I was very unproductive and just couldn’t be bothered in general. I did also have some unhelpful thoughts of ‘last time I was here, I was still pregnant’ but it was nice to chat with colleagues and take my mind off it for a while. Hope it goes ok for you too xxxx

Hope everyone had a good Easter!

Still no sign of AF which was due Thursday. I've left it a couple days since my negative digital Saturday and think maybe I'm going to retest tomorrow morning 🤞🏻

Although with a negative 2 days after AF I'm not getting my hopes up!

@SMG1992 thank you! My FRER are delayed with Amazon😩 so I popped to Asda and got a few different clear blues as well as Asda brands 🤞🏻

So strange! Yeah, my last pregnancy I didn't test positive until I was a week late. But I'm worried about having a repeat of last time😞 I'm not sure if anyone's tested positive so late and had a healthy pregnancy.

How have you been? Xx

@mollibu blooming Amazon, how annoying! I ordered some of the cb dating ones from there and didn’t realised the delivery said 2025?!
good luck testing in the morning, I have no idea what it means but I would think no AF is still a good sign x
