I wondered if anyone out there would be interested in joining a thread for those who have recently experienced a miscarriage - a place to share how we’re feeling emotionally, physical recovery, becoming ready to try again (for those that want to), and hopefully one day positive stories of successful preganancies.

I’m 32 and recently had a miscarriage at 5-6 weeks of my first pregnancy. I was relieved to have conceived after quite a short time, because I have PCOS and was worried I might struggle to get pregnant.

My miscarriage was about 2 and half weeks ago now, and today is the first day I’ve not had any spotting/bleeding at all, and that has been a relief to feel like my body is moving on from it. I know it’s advisable to do a pregnancy test a few weeks after miscarriage, which is something I’m a bit anxious about doing as I’m fairly sure it will be an emotional thing to do.

Since it happened my sleep pattern and energy levels have been a bit all over the place. Some days I’ve just wanted to sleep all the time, which I think could be a mix of actual physical tiredness and also emotional tiredness/hormonal changes. I was back at work for the first time today, and it was helpful to have something else to focus on and motivate myself for.

I’ve restarted tracking my BBT to see what happens with my cycle returning, though I’m aware it could take a while to get back to normal. My husband and I are both on the same page that we’d like to try again once I’ve had one normal period, so I guess we’ll just see how things go and how we feel when we reach this point.

Sorry this has turned into a longer post than I expected! Anyway, if there’s anyone out there who’s had a similar experience recently and would like a place to share feelings/questions/advice it would be lovely to hear from others.

Hi all, just thought I’d mention in case it’s useful to someone…

Since I had my MC in December, I’ve been taking the supplement OVUM and my periods have been normal and regular ever since so I’d definitely recommend having a look into it as I believe it’s helped me. The website is www.startwithovum.com. I found it from a forum where a few other women had been recommending it… I’ve also just had a positive test after trying for the first time again so i’m hoping this one sticks! 🙏🏻 Anyway, just in case the supplement has helped me get to this position, I wanted to pass it on! Lots of love to you all. X

SMG1992 · 03/03/2023 16:00

@Vt86 Thank you so much for the recommendation. I'm not sure where I am with this fertile window but if all goes wrong I'm going to look into these.

Also congrats on your BFP - fingers crossed for you :)

Travellingislife · 03/03/2023 16:09

@Chocolatebean a fertility specialist! I did blood tests and ultrasound to check my ovaries and lining. Everything pointed to amenorrhea, when you don’t have periods. I had that before I had my son as well but did get them back by myself by stopping exercise and eating more. After I stopped breastfeeding I didn’t get my period back though and took Letrozole.
I’m actually pregnant again but I’m only about 4 weeks so very early days, if we can’t have any more children I won’t have IVF, it’s too expensive. The specialist I’m seeing said it’ll be around 10k per cycle and that’s without having the embryos checked for chromosomal issues, the chance of a successful cycle is only 20% as well he said.

38andtrying · 03/03/2023 17:28

@Chocolatebean my first period was heavier and second one I thought it was a bit lighter amd shorter to be honest. My first month after I had terrible ovulation pain, doubled over actually and i never had ovulation pain before, second time in which I've conceived no pain at all. Really hoping your periods get back to normal soon and your rainbow baby is on way.

I'll keep on here and hope I'm reporting good news and it's a sticky one x

Chocolatebean · 03/03/2023 17:41

@38andtrying thank you so much and I’ve got everything crossed for you it is a sticky one remember that lovely statistic that if u fall within 3 months of a mc it’s much more likely to be a sticky one 😊.
@Vt86 and @Travellingislife omg omg omg massive congratulations that’s amazing I’ve just ordered some ovum I’ve been taking all those supplements separately so if I can get them all in one tablet that’s awesome thank you
@Travellingislife if I remember rightly we’re you really worried about your lining thickness it just goes to show doesn’t it.
im so chuffed for all of you it gives me hope. Please feel free to chuck any more hints or tips this way
i woke up with period pain today which I haven’t had for years hoping I get a decent luteal phase at that will at least mean my cycles may be improving xxx
keep the good news coming girls ❤️

Saturnsmoon · 04/03/2023 00:48

Congratulations @38andtrying @Vt86 @Travellingislife although I haven’t been very active on this thread since getting my bfp I’ve been lurking hoping to see all of you on here get your bfps and sticky beans. I’m currently 9w and so far things seem to be going ok. I have another reassurance scan on Monday so fingers crossed for that.

Sending love and positive thoughts to all of you still waiting for your cycles to regulate 💕

s14a · 04/03/2023 15:49

Is anyone trying anything different this month?

We are going back to 'full' trying.
So dtd for 2 days in a row and one day off for fertile window.
Using a menstrual cup post dtd.
Conceive plus lube
Supplements of: bee pollen, Royal jelly capsules, bee propolis( I used these for more ewcm and to bring forward ovulation within the cycle)

We have male factor infertility so am also working with a very low sperm count (but we conceived in September and October with it so I'm not too worried).
I've got an appointment with for a private recurrent miscarriage clinic as well to look at sustaining a pregnancy. I hope he's going to tell me there is an issue because I feel like thats easier to deal with than 'just bad luck'
I've had my 4th loss (2x chemicals in 2014 and 2016, 6 week mc in Oct 2022 and 10 week mc in December 2022) but within my area they don't refer until 3 consecutive losses.

Travellingislife · 04/03/2023 17:48

@Chocolatebean Thank you! I think it was someone else on here who was concerned about their lining but when I didn’t ovulate my lining was thin and hence I didn’t have a period either. Letrozole sorted that out!
@Saturnsmoon thank you! I’m so happy to hear it all looks good, I’ll be having a few early scans as well if I get that far. It’s such early days and I don’t dare to get my hopes up yet.

Chocolatebean · 04/03/2023 23:46

@s14a ive been racking my brains what else to do this month. I bought a cup to try ive heard people struggle to get them in so I’m a bit nervous to try but am also very tempted.
so far I’ve had a super healthy smoothy every day since October ( stopped when I was pregnant as couldn’t face it) take a million supplements, aspirin, eat clean, all full fat dairy as much bpa and chemical free except gel nails which I’m now giving up. I walk an hour a day pomegranate juice. I’m starting accupuncture 14 March, have an appointment at a menstrual clinic ( don’t know why nhs made me it so figure I’ll go) I’ve found a fertility clinic near me so if it fails this month then I may make us an appointment. I always need to feel like I’m doing something new to give me hope. I think the best thing I could do for myself is relax and chill out a bit haha 🤦‍♀️. Oh we’ve started impryl now and I’ve ordered ovum as well so here’s hoping xxx

ThaiDye · 05/03/2023 06:17

Congratulations to all the positive testers, hope they stay positive for you!

Speaking of acupuncture, I was the one who was told about needles in perineums, well I found an acupuncturist on another MN thread so I asked her and yes, it's a thing! So my acupuncturist wasn't trying to get rid of me as a patient after all!

Enigma85 · 05/03/2023 09:23

When you say gel nails is that a gel manicure? I've been worried about that so done some reading and spoke to my nail technician who said it was a myth, there's a few posts in MN too and people say it's safe, really hope so as I have mine done every 4 weeks.

I'm now 9dpo and it says period due tomorrow, stupidly tested on 7dpo and got a bfn. Was feeling nauseous so thought maybe it was hcg but obviously not.

Fairylight102 · 05/03/2023 12:21

@Chocolatebean I’m trying some of the same things - full fat yoghurt, pomegranate juice, acupuncture, exercise. For supplements I’m just taking folic acid and vitamin D as they’re the ones recommended on the NHS website.

I’m on CD16 now. Yesterday my BBT was up so I thought I might have ovulated already, but then today it went back down so it seems not! Going to just keep trying every other day and see what happens…

It’s so hard the effect on your mental health after a miscarriage. I had a tendency to be anxious beforehand anyway, but recently it’s been even worse. There are so many things I worry about like the whole thing of cat litter and toxoplasmosis, gel nails I also decided it’s not worth the worry just in case (only had them occasionally anyway), what if accidentally ate something I shouldn’t, had too much caffeine etc.

Sometimes I have to take a step back and remind myself that there are lots of women who get pregnant unexpectedly and will have done all these things before they realised, and they end up being totally fine.

I really just want to be out of this stage of monitoring my cycle and being anxious about every single thing, and I hope the same for everyone else here 🙏🏻

Hi @Enigma85 ugb I know I adore my gel nails I do them myself these days, I took one hand off the other day and still haven’t been able to bring myself to do the other hand. I suspect the amount of chemicals ingested from gel nails is minute but my nails probably need a break anyway so I’ll take them off and see how long I last lol xxx 9dpo you could still be positive and need a bit more time xxx
hi @Fairylight102 you sound very similar to me I’ve almost been acting like I was pregnant already no heavy lifting being very careful, yesterday I just thought what the heck are you doing I had a headache so I just took the painkillers and thought Sod it. I then ate a huge piece of shop made chemical included choc fudge cake and enjoyed every bite.
I have no symptoms at all, my bbt is everywhere, I do have slightly sore boobs I’m 11dpo did an internet cheapie totally negative xxx

Chocolatebean · 05/03/2023 16:13

Lol @ThaiDye so the question is are you going back to get your perineum pricked 😂😂😂

hennie222 · 05/03/2023 16:51

Congrats @38andtrying @Vt86 @Travellingislife . Keeping all things crossed for you. 8dpo (ish?) for me now, so keeping up hope and trying not to symptom spot, but also looking into the impryl and ovum reccomendations as now 3 months post mc and time is ticking.....

SMG1992 · 06/03/2023 11:38

Hi All, I finally got my peak ovulation on Saturday morning so am thinking I'm probably about 1dpo today.
I did have some bleeding with ovulation which is something I've never experienced before but read up on it and it looks like it's nothing to be worried about.

Now for my TWW, I'm planning on potentially taking my first test on 16th March at 11dpo or would that be too early?

TheBirdintheCave · 06/03/2023 12:02

@SMG1992 12 would probably be better but I've had positives at 11dpo before :) Good luck!

Chocolatebean · 06/03/2023 13:27

Fingers crossed @SMG1992 id go for 12 dpo if you can.
my period started this morning so back to the beginning ( again 🤦‍♀️) xxx

Chocolatebean · 06/03/2023 13:29

@hennie222 ive gone nuts and ordered the impryl and the ovum. 🤦‍♀️😂.

TheBirdintheCave · 06/03/2023 13:52

@Chocolatebean Sorry to hear that :(

Chocolatebean · 06/03/2023 14:18

Aw thanks @TheBirdintheCave i knew I wasn’t and tbh I’m glad it’s started so I can try again this month. I’m actually quite pleased which is weird.
im getting back in my exercise bike as have put half a stone on since the mc I haven’t been exercising just walking since the MC I know loads of exercise isn’t great but it’s not tons and I just want my body back the way it was. I was really ill with covid last month so it was no big shock it wasn’t my month. Here’s hoping for March xxx
how are you?

TheBirdintheCave · 06/03/2023 14:36

I'm ok. No idea if/when I've ovulated. OPKs are very pale and I have vaguely sore boobs so I think it's happened BUT I have EWCM again and my temps are still at baseline so that points in the opposite direction. So tiring and confusing.

Fairylight102 · 06/03/2023 16:46

@Chocolatebean Sorry to hear that. Fingers crossed for next month now that you’re over the Covid.

@TheBirdintheCave That sounds very confusing! I’m also confused about ovulation this month. My BBT went up a few days ago so I was hoping I’d ovulated, but straight back down the following day. Last night I had what I thought might be a bit of EWCM, but this morning my BBT was even lower, no idea what’s going on. I’m so fed up of it 😢

OP posts:
Chocolatebean · 06/03/2023 22:25

@TheBirdintheCave i got slightly sore boobs the day after my OPK peaked and my bbt never went up this month, about 5 days later it rose and stayed there for a bit but then down it came 🤦‍♀️. I also got ewcm during the 2ww as well so no idea🤦‍♀️.
aww @Fairylight102 it looks like a few of us are getting the same type of thing happening it’s like post miscarriage hormone issues isn’t it?
I emailed a fertility clinic today with the same situation as what we all have so I’ll wait for the reply to see what they say I’ll let you know. I also saw the price list 😬😬😬.

38andtrying · 06/03/2023 22:28

@Chocolatebean worry to hear the witch got you, I think covid is defo a barrier to conceiving. Fresh month and outlook, praying for your BFP this month x
