@dippyegg32 Im really sorry to hear that lovely. Why do you think it is chemical if you are only 12dpo? Also what will they see on a scan at that stage? Sorry if you already typed all this and I missed it!

dippyegg32 · 16/02/2021 14:40

@TheDaydreamBelievers my appointment at EPU was booked a while ago. My lovely consultant who did my surgery kept me on to have monthly checkups for a while to check my cycle regulates properly. Last months scan showed my womb was clear from the mmc and so it's just timely I have one on Thursday too. I guess they'll just be able to confirm ovulation and see a thickened lining I guess. I'm confident it's a chemical because the lines aren't darkening and got a negative digital test.

Badlydrawngirly · 16/02/2021 15:14

Hi everyone

I’m sorry to be joining this thread of course but what a wonderful and supportive group you are. I’m truly sorry for your losses.

I’m typing this after my ERPC this morning so excuse any typos and I’ll try and keep it brief!

This is my 7th loss. 3 ectopics (left tube now removed) and 4 miscarriages (2 happens naturally and 2 missed requiring an ERPC). I’ve had loads of tests and have mild lupus and an under active thyroid. This time I was on fragmin, aspirin and progesterone. We saw a heartbeat when I was measuring 6 weeks (although should have been 7 plus 4) and then 6 days later at a private scan the heartbeat had stopped and the fetal pole hadn’t grown. The sonographer mentioned that the yolk sac was very large (10mm) and said this could be a sign of an issue so I read up that it could be a chromosomal problem. We’re having cytogenetic testing so that may provide some answers.

I had no symptoms apart from a tiny amount of v light pink spotting the day after the scan when we saw the heartbeat. I started to feel rough and got antibiotics for a uti and put the spotting down to that. The Drs confirmed I did have a uti and the consultant at the EPU said it wouldn’t have caused the miscarriage. I guess I won’t ever know but the timing would be exactly when the fetal pole stopped growing.

My main concern is the pain I’m in. The nurse has been lovely. There was one nurse on recovery (not looking after me just came to chat to my nurse) and he randomly asked me if I have children. Wtf?!!

They gave me fentanyl in recovery and I’ve had oramorph since and I am still in pain (tummy and back). I’ve had an ERPC before and didn’t need any pain killers and after my lap fentanyl did the trick.

The nurse totally understands my worries about what’s causing the pain and they’re going to keep an eye on me and keep me here until it’s under control. Just had some paracetamol and codeine on top!

I just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar after an ERPC?

Thanks x

dippyegg32 · 16/02/2021 15:54

@Badlydrawngirly oh you poor love you've certainly been through it. I had an ERCP in December and tbh I was pain free day of surgery. I think they gave me diclofenac (or the equivalent) and then I had the odd period-type cramp for a day or two but don't recall needing pain relief. However I then had a uti a few days after which caused real pain but co-amoxiclav helped. I really hope they get the pain under control soon for you

Jtb10 · 16/02/2021 16:07

Hi All

I’ve been reading through the last few threads and it’s really helped. Lots of positivity during a difficult time. I had a mmc December, bled for 3 weeks. You then think you’re doing ok, until you add to the worry that AF is no where to be seen, lots of symptoms and feeling rubbish, negative tests. We’re TTC but without my period or any idea what’s happening it feels so disheartening. Is anyone else still waiting for AF?

Badlydrawngirly · 16/02/2021 16:19

@dippyegg32

Thank you for your reply. That’s how I felt last time. They’re allowing me home as the pain is manageable but they’ve told me to call if I feel bad later. I think I’m overthinking having an infection or something being wrong I guess.
I’m hoping I’ll feel better once I’m able to rest at home.
Poor you picking up a uti as they make you feel so rough. How are you feeling mentally and physically? Xx

MeganChar1 · 16/02/2021 16:53

@Badlydrawngirly did they give you an antibiotic after the procedure? I had a d&c under local anaesthetic and they did with me. It sounds like you have had a really rough time with it bless you. Just in regards to the underactive thyroid you mentioned, I have that as well, if you do decide to ttc again in the future I would really recommend the Facebook group “Thyroid Disease and pregnancy” if you’re on Facebook, there’s so much I didn’t know about managing an underactive thyroid during pregnancy and the group has really helped me for when I ttc next time xx

Badlydrawngirly · 16/02/2021 17:53

@MeganChar1

Thank you, I will definitely take a look. My thyroid was tested in September and was ok but I know it can change rapidly, especially in pregnancy. My GP tested it last week so I will see if it was still ok then. I’ve never had thyroid antibodies checked, or at least not for years so will get those tested along with NK cells I think. I’m looking at seeing Mr Shehata in Epsom for some advice.

I asked them about an antibiotic injection and I’ve not had one which is a bit concerning. Last time I had one!

dippyegg32 · 16/02/2021 18:23

@Badlydrawngirly Epsom hospital is only about 5miles from me so you must be super close to me! Hope you get some answers x

SuzieDeLaTour · 16/02/2021 19:04

Hi ladies! @AMS19 thank you for starting the new thread and adding me- can’t believe we are on no 3 already! Chatty ladies 😂 that’s so exciting you’re now in your TWW - feels weird to think we all have that to come again. Hope the days go nice and quickly for you! X
@Badlydrawngirly oh my love you’ve really been through it 😢 I’m so sorry to hear your journey has been so tough and that you’re still in the hospital in pain. I’ve had two EPRCs and wasn’t in any real discomfort - I had a few stabbing abdominal pains here and there the first couple of weeks but nothing dreadful and I don’t recall being in any pain on the day of my procedure. Did they give you antibiotics during the procedure? I really hope they can sort the pain for you and you can get some much-needed answers. Sending you virtual hugs x
@jtb10 hi! I’m 4.5 weeks post ERPC and still haven’t had a period. I think I ovulated last week at 3.5 weeks so hoping my period comes some time next week. Fingers crossed!! Like you, I just want it to come so I can start in a fresh cycle but we haven’t been trying. I’m holding off and hoping for some good luck in March!! 🤞 x

SuzieDeLaTour · 16/02/2021 19:15

@MeganChar1 I’m so sorry for your loss, it really is devastating 😢 I’ve had two MMC after seeing the heartbeat on numerous occasions. I found out with my first it was a chromosomal issue - nothing I did had caused it. Just “sheer bad luck” was how my consultant described it but it does feel particularly cruel when you see a heartbeat and think all will be fine only for it to still go wrong. I hope you can get the advice / help you need for your thyroid xx

MeganChar1 · 16/02/2021 19:21

@SuzieDeLaTour so sorry for your losses as well, it’s made me question whether I would want to get a private scan next time because it really gave me false hope, however 12 weeks is a long time to wait just to be potentially given bad news. If you don’t mind me asking how were you able to get your first mc tested? I was told they won’t do any tests etc until after 3 Sad, which is a lot of trauma for someone to go through before investigating things!

SuzieDeLaTour · 16/02/2021 19:32

@MeganChar1 oh I know, we were all previously talking about whether we would get a scan. I automatically get scanned early because I’ve got scar tissue which puts me at higher risk of ectopic but I actually think I would be tempted to hold off now until 9/10 weeks. Both of my miscarriages happened between 8-9 weeks so I feel like waiting until after that point might make me feel more positive although as we’ve all discovered, nothing is guaranteed! 😞 I’ve seen the same gynae since I was 18 and so I was very fortunate that he arranged to have the tissue analysed privately. I did have to pay for it though I should add!! But for me it was worth it for peace of mind x

SuzieDeLaTour · 16/02/2021 19:36

@MeganChar1 unfortunately MC is so common so they have to wait until you’ve had three to justify investigating. I actually went on to conceive a few weeks after my first MMC (and before I had the results of the analysis!!) so it had no bearing on my ability to have a successful pregnancy. I’m just praying that this one was also really bad luck and another rainbow bubba will come! X

Jujujuberry · 16/02/2021 19:37

@Badlydrawngirly You deserve some good in your life after what you've experienced, I really hope you get the pain relief you need, even a warm hot water bottle and maybe a gentle massage on your lower back from your OH.

After my 1st MC I had alot of cramping, I was on codine, and that helped. My 2nd MC was pain free all happened naturally, we saw the heartbeat at 6+4 after I had a bit of brown discharge, and then next day I had loads of red bleeding and clots, also passed the conception tissue. And obviously the next day at the scan there was nothing to see.. it all happened so suddenly, its like how can you see a heartbeat and the next just gone. So awful.

@Jtb10 I’m so sorry your here too, I’m finding this group so inspiring. I’m also waiting for AF, though its just been a week since MC for me. Try taking your mind off thinking when your AF will arrive, then it’ll come I’m sure xx

MeganChar1 · 16/02/2021 19:40

@SuzieDeLaTour I think I would be tempted to hold off until at least 8 weeks this time as that would be further than we got last time. But still lots of people do mc after 8 weeks so still a worry Sad ah right that makes sense, I think if this ever happens again (hopefully it doesn’t) I would go private to have tissues analysed x

AMS19 · 16/02/2021 19:45

@Badlydrawngirly @Jtb10 welcome ladies! Firstly I'm so sorry for what you've both been through. It's just awful all the suffering but something that should be so straight forward. We are bought up thinking you miss one pill and you'll be pregnant, like it's that easy. The reality is its bloody difficult, and sometimes feels impossible.

There are no words to make you feel better. Whilst we've all gone through different journies, we do understand how you feel. Getting all the tests you can is very sensible too. Lots of love xx

Jujujuberry · 16/02/2021 19:48

@SuzieDeLaTour having two MC is so tough isn't it, It makes me feel like the next time we will be so cautious with being able to celebrate, and the anxiety around the weeks of past MCs will be hard. But on the other hand, I will absolutely love every minute of being pregnant. Xxx

AMS19 · 16/02/2021 19:50

@Scottishskifun thanks for the tips! I learnt about the soy source when my Gusto box has it listed as gluten. Also marmite 😭😭😭 I've just made gluten free pancakes with a mix from asda which was amazing, very impressed. I havent tried the breads yet, I don't eat bread usually so not too much of an issue for me. I only plan to do it until I get to 12 weeks of a pregnancy, then get another test and hopefully start incorporating gluten gradually again

@Badlydrawngirly
I’m so sorry for your losses I hope tests give you some answers.
I’m 3 weeks post erpc, I had no pain at first but then 3 days after I was in terrible pain in stomach and back - they have me 2 different antibiotics for uti and uterus infection while they tested, it got better after couple of days, but I was on codine for those 2/3 days and that didn’t really cut it I was very worried and was close to going to a&e. I assume the antibiotics did the trick and it was an infection but will never know as they lost my sample!
Btw I had no other uti symptoms.
I would suggest they give you a course of antibiotics
Hope you start feeling better soon.
Epsom is a mile away from me! (But I went through royal Surrey)
X

LauraT94 · 16/02/2021 20:06

@AMS19 first period was actually ok! Think this is my last day. So 5 days total. Definitely heavier than my normal periods, but that's my normal periods on the pill.... I'd only had my withdrawal bleed post-pill before my BFP! So this could be a 'new normal' for me. Pain was normal, maybe with my cervix being a more sensitive? I.e. when I removed my menstrual cup this morning I didn't break the suction well enough so it kind of pulled at my cervix a bit and that set off some pains for a little while. Sorry if TMI 😂 I'm guessing it's just down to the disturbance from MVA!

I'm glad you're doing ok! And I know what you mean about the relief of knowing what's happening. The waiting around and not knowing what your body's doing is the worst. ❤️

AMS19 · 16/02/2021 20:24

@LauraT94 onto a lovely fresh cycle now! Yay! I'm actually really enjoying the TWW. I feel it is the only time you can have hope without fear. I definitely won't be tempted to test early, going to enjoy this period of naivety and being care free. I'm trying to focus on the positives of not falling too, mainly trusting my body to now wait for the perfect egg and sperm. Will throw myself into more exercise if/when period arrives ready for the next round xx

@DMT1982 meant to say, thanks for the Gusto suggestion. We've very much been enjoying our boxes xx

Thanks for the add to the new thread. Sorry I've been quiet but I have been reading all the comments but soo many to reply to. Hope everyone is ok today.

TheHotelCalifornia · 16/02/2021 21:46

@Ams19 that’s so exciting that you ovulated early I reallllyyyy hope I experience similar. So good to hear that you’ve been in my position and are out the other side. I just need to sit tight and wait really. Frustrating but unavoidable!

@Scottishskifun thank you for your sweet message. Ah interesting that you had no warning. I honestly thought it would come today but it hasn’t, blank OPK too. Just sucks being in limbo but hopefully it will happen for me soon. Yeah that’s the thing! I feel okay for days and then suddenly it just hits me and I get upset. Thank god we all have each other and we all understand what each other is going through xxx

@CocoLoco88 hey lovely, thank you so much! I honestly have been pretty positive lately and I think yesterday just wasn’t my day at all!! Feeling more like myself today though which is good. Yes my post-pill cycles were all over the place but actually they were getting more ‘normal’ so I’m really hoping they don’t go completely haywire now. Guess I’ll just have to wait and see! Hope you’re doing okay xxx

@Mellous ahh so glad your period arrived for you. Last two cycles were 36 ish so quite long, and that was after coming off the pill, so I guess technically that would be this week ish. I’ve been pretty distracted today making pancakes which has been good as I haven’t had a chance to agonise over it much!! Sorry to hear you got upset while walking doggo, I hope you’re feeling a bit better today ☹ xxx

@Ralala I’m so sorry to hear you’re struggling lovely. Please don’t think you’re ‘still’ off work – there is no normal time to be off and every experience is normal for each of us. Are you getting any support from anywhere else? Hope your partner is looking after you and you’re taking this time to just rest and like you say have a completely stress-free time. We’re always here if you need us. Thank you re: agnus castus too, I got my BFP the month I started taking it and it bought my O forward 5 days so I’m keen to continue taking it to shorten my cycle and lengthen my luteal phase more. Fingers crossed it continues xxx

@Jujujuberry thank you lovely, so sweet of you. Lol at the craft thing too, it actually wasn’t mean but I totally read someone doing that in the last thread haha!! Xxx

@dippyegg32 I’m so sorry to hear your story and that you may be having a chemical. Please let us know how your appt goes on Thursday xxx

@pettylamby can I please join you in limbo!! 5 weeks post ERPC today and still waiting on my bloody period! Also my first period was 108 days after coming off the pill last year so I feel we are kindred spirits. @thedaydreambelievers is also part of this club unfortunately Xxx

@LostFox82 hello and welcome. Sorry you have had to join us. 5 weeks post ERPC here, so happy you got your negative and hope you’re doing okay. Lots of ladies have done the same as you so please try not to worry as others have said xxx

@PlantMummy87 don’t ever apologise for being negative on here. We all do it but that’s exactly what this thread is for. I know exactly what you mean but you’re not out til you’re out so try not to think about it until then lovely, and remind yourself you’ve done all you can do for this month and that is all you can really do xxxx
