Periods after medical miscarriage

Hi, I think I'm about to go insane! I underwent a medical miscarriage after discovering a MMC on 08th July, I was 9 weeks by my dates but the sac was around 7 weeks. I eventually miscarried on the 17th July and got a negative PG test on 09th August.

My period showed its head on the evening of 16th August but literally for 24hrs!! I have had nothing since until yesterday evening when I had some brown spotting and again today some pinky brown spotting on wiping!

I'm so confused as to what my body is doing and I feel so out of control. I understood the first period after a miscarriage would be normal flow or heavier, but this has been practically none existent. Has anyone else had a similar experience? This MC was my second PG, the first ended in TFMR back in November at 15 weeks 😥 I just want to know when we can TTC again as I am 35 at Christmas and getting panicky about getting older!!

Any words of wisdom ladies? It's really starting to get to me xx

@Wils85 thank you so much for your advice it hurts so much that they are having to go through this. Speaking to her last night we would have been 3 days apart in our due dates it's so sad that we have both had to experience the loss.

@Lildav welcome to the group these ladies are such a support. Mine have been really heavy the first day and then light and finish up after 4 days.

@StEmilion how are you getting on? Did you manage to get a test?

StEmilion · 21/01/2021 13:14

Hi everyone

I did a test yesterday and got a bfp. I know I should be thrilled after I've been so desperate to be pregnant again but I just feel worried and anxious that it's going to happen again. And even if I don't miscarry there are still lots of things that can go wrong. I don't want to even imagine that this could have a happy ending. I think my boobs not hurting is a bad sign and I'm just waiting to see blood when I go to the toilet. I'm so sorry to sound so negative when I know what everyone else is going through.xxx

Wils85 · 21/01/2021 13:55

@StEmilion firstly, congratulations, that's amazing news ♥️ secondly, everything you are feeling is absolutely valid and a form of self preservation. Sadly, we have all been robbed of the enjoyment of pregnancy and I expect we will all feel this way when we get our BFPs, I know for sure that I will. Your boobs not hurting isn't necessarily a bad sign, every pregnancy is different, with different symptoms at different times. Try not to stress too much and take each day as it comes. We are here for you every step of the way xxx

Thanks @Wils85 I'm telling myself there's nothing I can do either way. Trying to keep myself busy with work but it's hard not to think about it!xxx

Lildav · 21/01/2021 16:38

Thanks everyone for being so welcoming
Hopefully it’s not the new norm 🤦🏻‍♀️
Anyone got any tips on falling pregnant
I’ve been trying to work out when I’m ovulating
I’m beginning to think it was fluke last time x

Wils85 · 21/01/2021 17:10

@Lildav I'd start using ovulation tests or temping. I use the tests, haven't a clue where to start with the temping. I use the cheapy strip ones from Amazon, you don't have to spwnd a fortune. Generally sex every other day throughout your cycle is a good starter for ten. Also, google the Sperm Meets Egg Plan as well. We've been doing that and fallen pregnant twice. As you know from this thread those pregnancies didn't work out but we did manage to get pregnant doing it 👍🏻 xxx

Lildav · 21/01/2021 19:56

Thanks @Wils85 some good advice
Every day , holy moly 🤣🤣🤣
Will look into getting the Amazon strips xx

StEmilion · 21/01/2021 20:31

I was also using opks and trying to follow sperm meets egg plan. I temped for a bit but that only tells you you've ovulated after it's happened. I've been taking proceive max and coq10. This month I've also been keeping my feet warm (have been told that helps, maybe it did!)xx

Wils85 · 21/01/2021 21:15

Oooo @StEmilion not heard about the feet warm thing! I've heard about the back warm. Going to give that a whirl xx

OP posts:
StEmilion · 21/01/2021 21:18

Hope it works!!xx

Wils85 · 22/01/2021 11:40

@StEmilion me too! Got them all toasty and bought a foot hot water bottle. I've also got my dressing gown tied round my waist keeping my lower back warm🤦‍♀️ I'll give anything a whirl. 🤣

How are you feeling today? Xxx

StEmilion · 22/01/2021 21:19

I like the sound of a foot hot water bottle, going to google it now! 😆

Where are you in your cycle now? And any news on the referral?

Boob pain is almost non existent now but there's nothing I can do xxx

PlantMummy87 · 22/01/2021 21:30

Hi all,

I'm sorry to hear of everyone's experiences. It looks/sounds like you have a lovely supportive board here and I would love to join if possible?

I recently had a missed in December at 7 +3 weeks. I'm currently on my first AF since the miscarriage but still in the throes of things being different and wondering if I'm ever going to return to 'normal' and be able to TTC again.

Wils85 · 22/01/2021 22:24

@StEmilion do it! I feel it's going to change my life 😂

I'm CD18 so TWW'ing and just keeping it real. Whatever happens, happens. If AF is late I'm going to wait until she's at least a week late before I test, just because of the chemical. I'd rather not know that I was PG and just think it's a late period.

No news on the referral yet. I'm hoping we get something this next week, but who knows. I never know if it's 8 to 10 weeks to hear or 8 to 10 weeks to be seen 🤷‍♀️ I guess the latter.

Take each day as it comes chick. Like I said before, it's not necessarily a bad sign that the boob pain is lessening. Try and be strong ❤️

Welcome @PlantMummy87 👋🏻 you are more then welcome here, I keep saying it but this is an amazing group of ladies. I wouldn't have gotten through the last 6 ish months without them. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. It's all so very recent for you. If I'm honest there are things, mainly feelings particularly about pregnancy, that will never be "normal", but I promise you you will start to feel more like yourself in time. Your loss will never leave you, but you learn to carry it. Take care of yourself xxx

Hi ladies sorry I've been a bit quiet on here. My friend having to deal with her Tfmr has brought back alot of feelings. She's going to the hospital today for the final medication to deliver the baby. :( I'm not sure what happens in these situations if they will keep here there or send her home. I really hope she doesn't have to go through that at home.

@StEmilion congratulations on your news. I know you must be feeling all over the place but I am keeping everything crossed. Its so sad that our journeys have a cloud over us because what has happened in the past. I think i would be feeling exactly the same as you though happy but terrified at the same time.

I didn't know about keeping the feet warm im going to try that this month. I've also read about omega 3 oils so going to get some of those. It can't hurt can it.

@PlantMummy87 welcome I lost my baby in November and have just started the TTC journey again. This group of wonderful ladies is so supportive. They also give me such hope.

PlantMummy87 · 23/01/2021 12:34

Thank you everyone for being so welcoming. It's so nice to find a supportive and friendly group 😊

I'm feeling a lot more positive today after deciding yesterday to reach out on here and feel hopeful again 😊
Looks like the pelvic pain and AF I was feeling is starting to subside which is supper exciting as I'm going onto cd 7 and seemed like the flow was never going to end. Still going to go for the private scan at start of Feb just so I have peace of mind.

I've not heard about keeping your feet warm either but will definitely be trying it during my window 🤞

@Nellie5115 I also read a few months ago that omega 3 are helpful. I'm plant based so thought I couldn't get any but found a good vegan one that myself and my partner take. I've gone back to my fertility vitamins and take a co-q10, my partner takes a multi vitamin and also co-q10. We eat very healthily usually but for us I definitely feel like it can't hurt to just take them. I don't know if it was a coincidence or actually helped but we started taking the co-enzyme q-10 the month we first conceived, but then again I had started up yoga classes again and started a fertility specific yoga class that month too so I guess could have been a combination or just a fluke.

Wils85 · 23/01/2021 13:01

@Nellie5115 don't apologise my lovely, these things are triggering when you've been through what we have. We were almost 15weeks when we had our TFMR. I was given medication on the Monday, sent home to then go back on the Wednesday to be admitted until it was over. For some women it takes longer and they have to stay in overnight. Luckily for me it was over my mid afternoon 😥

Im willing to try most things. I've stopped running, I've started fertility yoga, now I'm keeping my feet warm and I've added floradix to my supplements as I've been pretty fatigued recently. I tried prenatal hormones when we first started TTC but they made me have the runs 🙈 sorry TMI 🤣

I've not heard about the Q10. I'll have a look at that this afternoon 👍🏻

Attached photo of the new foot warmer. I LOVE it. Toasty toes here.

@PlantMummy87 so glad to hear things are starting to subside. AF is rubbish, you just don't quite feel yourself and that's before adding in all the feeling about TTC and losses.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

@StEmilion @Cornflake24 hope you're both keeping ok 😘 xxx

Hi all and welcome to the new people, this group is truly a life saver.

New with me, they have decided to go ahead with my colonoscopy despite the risks to the baby so booked in on 9th Feb, not looking forward to it at all haha.

For the newbies I am pregnant now (13+3) following two MCs however I have been having blood in my stools so was scheduled for an urgent colonoscopy to ensure it wasn't cancer, then they decided not to because of risks and have now decided to go ahead anyway. So not out of the woods yet sadly

Cornflake24 · 23/01/2021 14:00

@StEmilion massive congrats! Might be worth saying my boobs haven't hurt at all this time, they were soooo sore last time. All my symptoms have pretty much changed, apart from being tired and feeling a bit sick iv not had much, I was terrible first time. I'd say different symptoms could be a good thing, different pregnancy so different symptoms and hopefully different outcome. Do not symptom spot!!!!!!!!!!

Nellie5115 · 24/01/2021 15:23

Hey @PlantMummy87 I just went out and got some omega 3 and coq - 10 how many mgs are you taking for the coq - 10?

I'm going to start rattling with all these vitamins. If it helps I'm all for it though!

PlantMummy87 · 25/01/2021 10:08

Hi @Nellie5115 I've been taking between 30mg and 60mg a day of the co enzyme q-10 tablets so either one or two tablets for me and my partner usually just takes one although he isn't as religious about taking them as me so might miss one or two a week.

Reading online some people suggest taking a lot more but I figured I'd try a lower amount first, see whether my body likes it as a vitamin as didnt want to react badly to it or anything, and up the amount I take if I needed to, especially as they are quite pricey compared to other vitamins. Definitely check out your own research too as I'm most definitely not a doctor and don't want to suggest anything that isn't right for you or anyone else. Hope that makes sense 😊

Nellie5115 · 25/01/2021 10:27

Thanks @PlantMummy87 they are quite expensive aren't they. I managed to get 100mg tablets from super drug for £12 which was quite reasonable compared to other places. Willing to give anything a go. Fertile window opens again this week so back to tracking everything.

PlantMummy87 · 25/01/2021 12:01

@Nellie5115 oh wow that is much more reasonable, I'll definitely go to ss

Superdrug next time to get them although 🤞 don't have to.

Also going into my fertile period this weekend coming up. First cycle proper cycle I've had since the MC so hoping things are back to 'normal' but half expecting my ovulation dates and following AF to maybe not be what it used to be. Have started tracking again too 😊🙏

StEmilion · 26/01/2021 09:03

Morning everyone

Sorry I've been a bit quiet, have been quite up and down over the last couple of days. Getting a lot of cramping and breast soreness has virtually gone. I know I shouldn't symptom spot but I think what's worrying me is that I had a symptom that's now gone. Not feeling very positive.

I read the 'it starts with an egg' book and based on that was taking 400mg of coq10 a day. I got it at Tesco- think it was £9.50 for 90x100mg tablets and they do 3 for the price of 2.xx
