Missed miscarriage - advice needed please

I have just found out from a scan that I have a missed miscarriage (ie. no bleeding but fetus not growing and no heart beat). The doctor recommends I have surgery (ERCP) rather than wait for nature to take its course. Does anyone have any advice/experience of this? Please help -I am gutted and don't know what to do. Thanks

Lynne-your job sounds really interesting.

Jossie-what age group do you teach? (And yes that was a lovely thing to say!!!)

Yes it sounds as though we all over-indulged at the weekend but I think we deserve it!

Im a mental health nurse, work on a ward and also do some community work. I live in Norwich.

Not going to bother with OPKs and the like, just gonna relax a bit xx

Jossie · 10/10/2006 19:28

My friendis a mystery shopper, I've thought about doing it, would you recommend it Lynne?
I live in Hertfordshire and currently teach Year 6 (10 & 11 year olds), although I'm just trying to go freelance working for a company that goes into schools with science workshops-science is my main teaching specialism, sort of fell into it as originally I taught music (still play in a brass band).
Edie, I think you're right about relaxing lets face it the past few months have been stressful enough, its easy to get hooked up on OPKs and the like, but you and DP could probably do without all that atm, relaxing around each other is probably better.
Nice to find out more about you both, realised that I haven't told DH about my mumsnetting, I think because I wouldn't be as open if I thought he might look in-I normally tell him everything!
Best wishes
J

lynneclynne · 10/10/2006 20:04

Yeh Josie,i would recommend it, i love it!I shop in Mcdonalds where i get a meal free plus paid to shop, pizza hut is a good one they pay good, banks and building societies pay well i also do alot of clothes shops, jewlers, coffee shops and furniture stores and restauarnts, it is good and the work is optional so i fit it in around my lifestyle which is good. I would go for it! Especially if u have some spare time available, u wont become rich over night but u get alot of freebies which is good!

Edie i know what u mean about relaxing, thats the best way as me and dh did it that way in june and i was pg in july, thats the way we are doing it again, the only thing i had to put my mind at rest was if i knew my cycle was back to normal and ov again. I know a few girls that have gone way over the top with ttc and a year later they still arent pg, thats why we decided to be v relaxed about the whole situation in june when we were ttc and in july it showed it deffinetly works!!

Gosh!! I bet in both ur jobs it can be quite stressfull, u are constantly on the go and needed at all times, but i bet its v rewarding!!
Norwich and hertfordshire???? God knows where they are (just know it far away from me V far!!
Josie, know what u mean about telling dh about mumsnet, at first i wasnt so sure but then i did and im sorry ladies but havent stopped talking about u both since i cae on here (hope u dont mind)
Well, i hope u are both well, speak soon xxx

edie123 · 10/10/2006 22:23

Aww Lynne thats so sweet about telling your dh about us!! Ha ha. Because I have cut my hours down at work I think it would be good to do something else a day a aweek. How do we find out more about it? Sounds facinating. What is it exactly that is involved? Yes my job can be stressful at times but on the whole I enjoy it.
Just played a game of badmintion-feel better that I have some exercise evry now and again in terms of ttc.

Jossie Yes think the relaxed approach is definately the best for us right now. However check to see if im still saying that in a months' time! Where abouts in Herts are you? My mother was born and brought up in Letchworth and I have family in Baldock. My aunt used to live in Hitchin.

lynneclynne · 11/10/2006 08:49

Morning ladies, hope u are both well.
Edie you have to register with some m/shop companies, here are a few that i do work with.
www.gapbuster.com
www.retailmaxim.co.uk
www.retaileyes.co.uk
www.grgresearch.co.uk
www.optiumcontact.co.uk

Dont be disappointed if u dont get in to all as it depends on where u live, if its a busy city like where i live they may already have alot of shoppers in ur area but some still take ur details and keep it in their database. Good luck! You can do other searches on the internet for other companies but dont go with any that ask for money.Once u are registed u will find some companies pass on ur details to other m/shop companies, which is quite good.

Hope u are both having a good week! Mines is quiet, just working one day so Edie i too will have to get out there and get some excercise!!! God! Its a thought!!

Take care girls

edie123 · 11/10/2006 09:46

lynneclynne · 11/10/2006 19:11

Jossie · 11/10/2006 20:51

Hiyam
Edie I live near Ware (East Herts).
I currently work 2 days a week in school (Thursday and Friday) si I've got to go back to it all tomorrow. I also work about 10 hours a week in the evenings doing homeworking, I want to cut down my teaching so that I can get more involved with the science workshops job.
I like the sound of those sites and will apply (trying to get enough other more convenient jobs so that I can make the leap of faith from the regular teaching to the more specialised (it's not on a contract, its freelance so no holiday pay etc!).
Not feeling too bad today although am shattered as DS1 has had his party with his friends tonight, but he enjoyed it.
In retrospect, what happenned last week at work has really made me appreciate how noce people are there, as I've only been at that school for just under 2 years and working part time, felt slightly detached from others, so that is the positive side.
Lovely to have you both to rabble on to.
Bye for now
J

edie123 · 11/10/2006 21:35

Jossie

Not sure where Ware is. Going to be at Herts on the 4th Nov as it's my grandpa's 90th b/day. Actually I go there quite a bit to see my family. Im glad that people have been supportive toward you at work xx

Lynne

I work 30 hours a week. Would be good for me to do something that would be interesting for me, money is not so much of an issue although a little bit extra in my pocket would be nice. I guess everyone wants to do that type of work though so I shall not get my hopes up. Norwich probably has loads of mystery shoppers.

HOWEVER IF WE ALL DID IT, WE COULD CHAT ABOUT IT ON HERE!!

edie123 · 11/10/2006 22:21

Lynne

Just applied for the retailmaxim one also but it asked me for my bank details and now im worried!! Do you work for this company?

I had to fill in a exam style thing!! Very strange!! xx

Jossie · 11/10/2006 22:35

Hi Edie
Funny just been looking at caravan sites in Norwich as might borrow mum and dads caravan over half term, mum and dad are moving back to Norfolk probably next month (I was born in Newmarket general many moons ago!)
Where abouts are you coming to in Herts for the party?
Lynne I've started looking at those websites as well but got a bit windy when they wanted personal info, is that ok?

Jossie · 11/10/2006 22:42

Lynne forgot to ask whereabouts in Scotland are you?
J

lynneclynne · 12/10/2006 08:51

Morn girls (god im getting earlier and earlier these days! Josie im in Glasgow and love it! Its a busy city with everything in it, what about you two, is it busy cities u both live in??

Edie, thats ok about retail maxim, they ask for everyones bank details, they are very trustworthy, i do alot of work for them....Josie, most of them ask alot of personal questions, all the companies i have given u are all very well known and reliable.

Josie, its nice that u have lovely people in ur work,it does make a difference, my last job was i was the only female, although that has its good points too (no bitching) At the moment, im freelance too, but that suits me for now, i can it easy most days.

So do u both live near each other??
It is really nice having u both to chat with,im glad i came on to this site.

Well ladies, its another quiet day for me,just gonnie to the housework, ironing, strip wallpaper then have breakfast. (well its not that quiet)
Infact,might just have breakfast first!

Hope u both had a nice day at work.

edie123 · 12/10/2006 09:54

Hey girls

Jossie-you should definately consider a caravan in Norfolk, we have very pretty countryside, and beaches. Suffolk is also lovely-paticularly somewhere like Southwold which is very popular with holiday makers. Norwich is fantastic and has lots of shops. Been to Newmarket-thats very nice. On the 4th I shall be in either Letchworth or Baldock-can't remember which.

Lynne-I would love to visit Glasgow-might do one of these days. Me and Jossie live about an hour and a half away from eachother. Norwich is quite busy yes, probably quite similar to Glasgow. I am glad about the bank details being safe. Phew! It was very strange-had to do like a little test thing!

I am also glad we have eachother to talk to. Im about CD9 now I think. Still taking the relaxed approach though!

I have a day off today and tomorrow but working over weekend xx

lynneclynne · 12/10/2006 11:20

Oh Edie! Thats rubbish u have to work over the weekend! Oh well suppose it'll be worth it when u get ur days of during the week.Have u got any plans for today and tomorrow??
Im suppose to be doing the housework I havent even started yet!! My mum came round for breakfast and thats her just away, i'll have to start soon though Thats nearly 3 hours ive sat about doing nothing!! Keep saying i'll start upstairs LOL but havent even bothered to get of this chair Thats the only thing with working less hours, ive become v. v lazy!! My backsides never of this computer chair
Im glad u got things sorted with the m/shops, i had wee look on gapbusters website they did have some shops in the NR12 and NR 2 areas, im not sure if those are near you though, are they??
Right i better go this time (no doubt i'll be back on soon, once i've done a bit of dustin)
Bye for now xxx

edie123 · 12/10/2006 13:39

Lynne

Seeing a couple of friends tomorrow and we are going to see my DP's bro tonight to cook him dinner as his mother has gone to France for a couple of days and him being a typical 20 year old, can't cook much!

I am doing house work as we speak. Cleaned the bathroom and just de-scaled the kettle! Listening to radio 2 at the same time as I love the Jeremy Vine show.

I applied for all the sites you gave me, plus did a search and applied for another but can't remember the name. Hope I get a few assignments-it sounds like fun! Yes I think those post codes are quite near me, I live in nr3 so they must be. Oh goodie

Get on with that house work!!! (Im trying to motivate you)

My wrist has started to hurt from all the mumsnetting!! xx

edie123 · 12/10/2006 13:47

Keep thinking I might start a new thread for us three to chat on (you me and Jossie) and others of course. Don't know what to call it though...

lynneclynne · 12/10/2006 14:13

Edie, i was thinking that too!! Mmmm...dont know what we could call it though?????
Well i've finished the housework (at last)did stop for a few breaks thoughJust waiting for dh and ds to come home, we're going out for a meal as dh away for the weekend to Dublin, so i'll be home alone LOL
Did u do anything nice on day off edie??

lynneclynne · 12/10/2006 14:17

Enjoy ur meal!
xxx

edie123 · 12/10/2006 16:33

Im not sure, lets have a good think.

I haven't done anything nice as yet, apart from the house work but that can't really be described as 'nice' can it?!

Yes I am still drinking, not a lot as I don't drink much anyway but I have the odd glass of wine. I really don't think it does that much harm, of course in large quantities it would but every now and again would probably be a good thing.

Jossie · 12/10/2006 20:48

Quite envious of you 2 chatting, whilst I was in the midst of the classroom. Hope you got your housework done. DH is on night shift over the weekend, so I'm hoping the weather will be ok as I'll be on football practice duty.
About the wine, I know with DS1 I didn't touch a drop, DS2 I had the ocasional glass, m/c baby 1, drank before I knew I was pg, m/c baby 2 didn't touch a drop!
Still not sure where we are going for half term-I do like the Suffolk coast (especially Aldeborough, rather bracing or should that be freezing cold!)
Saw the girl at work who is pg, but didn't talk to her, supposedly she doesn't want the parents to know, but she was wearing rather tight clothes today (or am I being hyper sensitive), Others were really supportive again.
I am going to have some wine in a minute, feel the need!
Hope you're both doing well
J

lynneclynne · 12/10/2006 21:21

Jossie, u didnt miss much, just me and edie stuck in the house doing housework!!
Im glad work went a bit better for you this week.I hope the weathers good for the football! Theres nothing worse!!Standing in freezing cold or even worse, the rain!!

Edie, im not much of a drinker either but its nice to get a wee glass of wine.

Josie i didnt touch a drink with ds either or with my last, i do know a girl that drank all through her pregnancy, i was totally disgusted also a girl who took heroine and the baby had withdrawl symptoms when it was born, they had to wean it off with methodone...u never hear of idiots like that having mc, do u? and that just scunners me!!
Right girls, take care, speak tomorrow sometime, im out for lunch during the day with a friend so i'll catch up tomorrow some time.
Lynne xxx

edie123 · 12/10/2006 22:05

Jossie-bless you! As Lynne said-boring old house work! Doesn't take long to get messed up again though does it? DP was well pleased though-he is very very clean and tidy and normally I am very lazy but today I just had a bit of an urge!

Mmm I don't like that girl you work with. He he, arn't we funny creatures! Still-like I said before-pregnant people still make me go a bit funny . Yes Lynne you are right, some people smoke and take drugs and stuff and are fine. Makes me sick. [need a vomit emoticon] !!

Pass me the wine Jossie. Yes go to Suffolk-blow the cobwebs away if nothing else xx

lynneclynne · 13/10/2006 17:37

Hi ladies, how are you both today?? Josie hope work went well and edie hope you enjoyed your day off.
